Summary: Celebratory night out on one of Yamato's rare days off

The sky was completely dark at this time in the early evening, and the temperature was dropping with each passing minute. Yamato was not in his usual long coat, but instead in a warm looking winter coat with a thick, pale coloured scarf topping the ensemble. His JP's uniform was mostly for show, not for warmth, and he didn't do too well in the cold.

He was standing on the edge of the Taurus Ward, looking as severe as usual. He was ten minutes early for his and Shura's meeting time, waiting beneath a tall looking street lamp. He didn't look impatient, and actually seemed to be lost in thought, gazing up at the dark sky with his arms crossed over his chest.

Hm, it was even starting to snow a little...

Yamato shifted awkwardly, unsure on how one proceeded from here.

"Well then, I think that's enough excitement for us. Shall we go to...wherever it is you want to celebrate?" he said briskly, slipping his phone back into his pocket.

[demifemme]

"Yeah, I'm pretty deflated now. Let's go to Nyx's and have a drink or two to celebrate." She didn't start running this time, crossing the street calmly to head to Nyx's Bar.

Yamato trailed after Shura, letting out a quiet sigh. Nyx's Bar... hopefully they'll be able to secure a private booth because, not really wanting to be hit on or anything of the sort.

"We will be drinking privately, won't we...?"

[demifemme]

Shura nodded. "Yeah, of course."

Nyx's Bar was less crowded thanks to the cold and the fact that it wasn't broadcasting the Grand Prix, so having access to a private booth away from the pounding music and the dancers was not too difficult.

Once there, somewhat hidden from the other clients as well, Shura took her hoodie off and began her night by ordering a rum and Coke.

Yamato sat down comfortably into the booth, pleased that the music was a muffled, dull throb - easily ignorable. He unwrapped his scarf and started unbuttoning his coat, ordering a Bailey's on ice after Shura ordered her drink.

"I only caught the end of your fight," Yamato admitted when their waitress moved away. "I wasn't all that interested in the tournament. I had more important things to attend to."

"Oh." Shura took a silent moment to put her things aside, the markings of her neck and face glowing in the dim light.

"I'm a bit disappointed, actually. I was hoping you'd watch my whole fight." She sighed. "Oh well. I'm happy you caught the end of me being badass." She grinned a little.

"Hm," Yamato let out a small laugh. "Yes, at least I caught your victory. Actually," he carefully shrugged off his coat, revealing the simple button up shirt beneath. "I'm still curious to see the full extent of your power. I don't believe I've ever had the chance to..."

Last time would have been during the Scorpio Event, but Yamato had been more preoccupied in finding and rescuing Kaito - and hadn't known Shura well enough to care enough about her then.

"Oh man, that would be pretty difficult," she admitted. "I am a weapon of mass destruction after all... It'd take a strong enemy to make using my strongest attack worth it."

[drakenguard]

"Hm..." Yamato pressed his gloved hand against his mouth in thought (unconsciously copying a certain Star...). "Perhaps we can scout for any strong opponents during the 13th Hour?"

[demifemme]

"That could work," she agreed, "but not tonight. Tonight we're enjoying the night."

The waitress came and gave them their drinks. Shura took her, smiling, and lifted it slightly. "Kampai!"

"Right."

Yamato picked up his, lifting it up in a small toast, "Kampai."

Shura took a good sip of her drink before asking her next question. "So how has work been?"

[drakenguard]

Yamato didn't take a sip of his drink yet, preferring to nurse it for a bit. Ah, small talk. He's getting a bit better with it - he hoped. "Exhausting, but we are working hard on something," judging by Yamato's tone, he was not elaborating on what that 'something' is. "Also comparing data between you and a 'Kazuya Minegishi'. The results have been interesting."

"You've found another Demi-Fiend type of person?" At least, that's why she assumed they were comparing them.

[drakenguard]

"Yes, well, his case is different to yours," Yamato explained. "You became a Demi-Fiend through a symbiotic relationship with your Magatama. He became a demon by devouring and digesting powerful demons - and even then, his transformation to Demon isn't fully finished. I haven't seen something like that before."

[demifemme]

"I haven't even heard of anything like that," said Shura, imagining a human cutting a demon to pieces to roast it and eat it. "But I think I've met him before my match."

[drakenguard]

"Have you? Ideo was the one who examined him," Yamato sounded a bit put out about this. "What's he like?"

[demifemme]

"I met him just yesterday. He was using his demon to cheat at betting on fighters in the Grand Prix."

[drakenguard]

Yamato rolled his eyes. "He could not make his own decision? It is obvious that you would have won." That was the only fight that happened today after all.

His tone was matter of fact. Hitoshura was obscenely powerful compared to the others in battling in the tournament. She was, as she said, a Weapon of Mass Destruction.

[demifemme]

"Apparently he has never heard of me. I guess to some people I am still just a girl with strange tattoos" It did seem to bother her a bit, too. "I expect that from the locals, but not the 'visitors'."

[drakenguard]

Yamato hummed in thought. "Just a girl? What's that supposed to mean?"

Yeah Yamato's been surrounded by strong women who take no nonsense for his entire life, so he doesn't understand why 'girl' can be counted as an insult, or to be underestimated.

[demifemme]

"Y'know, just a girl. A weak little girl who has to be protected, be pretty otherwise men won't want her but not too pretty otherwise men will rape her; a girl meant for marriage and pregnancy and staying at home for her husband to raise his children and keep the house no matter what she could have wanted to do instead with her life; a girl who should wear dresses and skirts, not walk around with her breasts bare, not be tattooed, not swear, not get angry, not get into fights, not become a leader of demons, not love another girl."

[drakenguard]

Yamato couldn't help it; he erupted into shocked, amused laughter.

"W-What?" he coughed, pressing a hand against his mouth to swallow back the noise. Oh, he didn't mean to do that, and he felt a bit embarrassed by the show of emotion. "That is ridiculous - is that a common viewpoint of women in society?"

Surely not... he knew modern civilians were corrupt and ignorant, but to hold such values? It was mind boggling. Women were stronger in terms of spiritual compatibility and their brains were wired more towards languages and socialisation, but aside from that there were no other differences between gender, no 'weaker' one.

[demifemme]

Shura was shocked by his laughter. He... what? How could he not know this?

"What... it's absolutely everywhere! It creeps up in everything."

At least he found it ridiculous enough to laugh at it...

"It does? I haven't seen it," Yamato replied, calming down a little from his laughing fit. He took a small sip of his drink, setting the glass down slowly. "Then again, I have been isolated from society since birth. I have no idea what misconceptions mere civilians hold regarding genders. I wasn't aware that there were any."
