It was obviously a dangerous mission, and hidden away by the cover of the reddish tint of the 13th hour. With most of the city still focused on what had happened during the tournament and the Anoli, there was little question to the disappearing Seven and Wisemen...or if they had noticed at all.

But eventually that would readily turn into questions, and the panic and confusion that could ensue might be dangerous. Thus it was time for a little trip into the temple that once yielded no answers and see what exactly had happened...and hopefully able to stage a rescue attempt. But what did the Mictlan have for them in store, and would they be able to get in at all? It was hard to judge.

As the Visitors arrived, they were ushered into the front doors of the temple in the center of the ghost town. Most of the demons were being kept at bay, in a bid to better keep their strengths and powers.

For who knew what they might need in there...the video had cut off so many times, after all.

"I'll cover you." Loken rumbles. While willing to take the risk himself, he prefers to have both hands free for MURDERING HIS FOES. Also he isn't really an explorer. More of an exploder.

Shinjiro grimaced. "No reason to rush into touching that pedestal. Just because we only see one option doesn't mean there ain't another around." Though it might be a completely one-way affair, but risks should only be taken if there isn't much choice or hope of another, safer option.

"Not that I don't admire your bravery, but I think we should take a moment to think carefully before we do anything. Those statues bother me a little. They seem entirely too haphazard in a way that suggests several unpleasant possibilities."

They represent the monsters they have to fight, they actually are the monsters, touching the stone turns you into a monster, take your pick from any number of terrible video game cliches....

"I wasn't about to rush into it. I've been looking around, and..." And he wasn't sure what to make of it all.

"Considering this is the only thing left standing, I would think it's the cause of all this..." Nik gestured to the rest of the room to indicate the state it was in. "This mess. But I think we're going to find out what it does one way or another."

Well, while you guys think, he could sniff around (literally) and see if there was anything else to find besides the obvious pedestal that smells like a trap. If the strings ended there... what did that mean?

Probably exactly what it said on the tin, but Koromaru began to sniff to see if he could find anything. He really didn't want one of his friends touching it, okay.

"We don't have to start by picking it up directly, either. We could try using a Persona, or a weapon, or psychic powers if someone has those..."

She doesn't, but the other two are feasible. Her naginata is long enough that she could stand back from the pillar and knock the stone off, and a Persona could give even more range. Maybe even enough to stand outside the door.

Arguing. And arguing. And more arguing. Oh for...

That's it. "Geez. If you want something done right, you gotta send a comically inept pirate in for the job," he gripes, finally. "Look, I'LL handle this. You guys just... watch for horrible tentacle thingies, or something, okay?"

Guybrush approaches the pedestal with trepidation. The strange stone glitters before him. Reaching carefully into his inventory, he pulls out a coconut and, inching, moving ever so slowly, his hands move towards the stone. Careful... careful...

~~You can almost hear the music.~~

With a quick movement, he swaps the coconut for the stone, holding it aloft. He turns back to folks. "There. See? That wasn't so bad."

The second Guybrush lays his fingers on the stone, it not only glitters-- it begins to glow with a bright, white light. The light starts to get brighter and brighter, and Guybrush will feel his arm being sucked into the now-activated portal.

It won't suck him in beyond his elbow, but as the light continues to grow bright, the glowing stone starts rising into the air, hovering a few feet about the top of the pedestal and dragging Guybrush slowly into the air with it.

"...oooookay, that's probably not good. *ahem* YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Guybrush flails as he begins to be lifted, desperately trying to let go and, more importantly, try to get the stupid thing to let HIM go. "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!"

"...Hang on!"

Well.

He had told Minako his plan earlier In Case of Tentacles and this seemed like it was about to lead to Tentacles. He spares her a glance before bringing his COMP to bear.

Badb Catha materializes in a flash of light and immediately swoops towards Guybrush with a screech, wings spread wide. It brushes past quickly, attempting to teleport the both of them away from the stone. No doubt it would be totally ineffective but it was all he had short of grabbing on to Guybrush himself, which he was pretty sure would lead to some sort of chain reaction resulting in everyone grabbing on to each other and being sucked in.

The stone seems reluctant to release Guybrush, and the teleport is unable to remove him from the portal's grip. The light continues to get brighter and brighter.

Well whatever was happening, Miki wasn't going to stay there without a fight. Taking out her evoker, she pointed it at her head.

"HELEN!" The persona hovered forward and attempted to grab the pirate.

Ruri looks over at Guybrush and ponders for a moment.

"What does it feel like on the other side of that stone portal? Do you think something with a camera could be slid in to see the area?"

"Guybrush!" Came a shriek from behind the group. Forget Personas, Elaine shoved past everyone and ran forward to grab at Guybrush's free arm before the stone could do... more of whatever it was doing.

Kazuya, who had been watching all of this chaos for a while, muttered a soft 'called it' under his breath before sending Okuninushi forwards. He knew how these things went! Everyone will grab onto each other, and get sucked in in a comical anime way.

Best to sacrifice a demon subject to the rescue of Guybrush. Alas.

So now three people are grabbing onto Guybrush - persona, demon, and human. Will that be enough?

Garviel grunts, deciding Guybrush is being sufficiently dragged, and checks the strange statues for signs of movement.

"This could be the distraction part of a larger trap. Watch out."

"Not the time, Ruri-chan..."

Right now it's time for action. Whether Guybrush has enough people pulling already or not, Minako raises her Evoker to add to the mix. Quetzalcoatl wraps his snake-tail around Guybrush's waist and tugs, beating the air with his wings. The move isn't just about rescuing Guybrush - having her Persona already summoned will also help if the trap is suddenly sprung.

"Uh."

There seemed to be quite enough people tugging desperately at Guybrush at this juncture in time. Badb Catha returns to Atsuro's shoulder with a subdued caw, and the boy quickly summons a second demon, Shiisaa...

This was less about fighting than about mobility at this point. With Badb Catha's Flight and Shiisaa's Switch, he felt fairly confident he could help the others escape from Tentacular Doom - or at least one person, anyway.

"Be careful, everyone! This is the part in the video where they were captured!"

The statues show zero signs of life or movement. If it weren't that video earlier, you'd think they really would just be elaborate statues.

The light continues to get brighter and brighter as their efforts persist-- it blooms and spreads to fill every recess of the room and everyone's eye sight.

Just as fast as the light filled the whole room, however, the stone finally released its grip on Guybrush, the suction no longer holding his arm captive and sending him falling back to the ground along with everyone that was holding on to him. Curiously though, they weren't the only ones that were falling.

There was far too much sound to just be the members of the team. Once the light finally receeded, the source was obvious: Q, Orpheus, Minerva, Eiichiro, and Brainstorm had fallen to the ground right along with Guybrush, Elaine and Okuninushi.

Luckily for them, it seems Brainstorm was able to land with enough composure so that he wouldn't fall and crush the others. Once everyone had toppled out, the stone lowered back down to hover above the pedestal once more, the bright light completely gone.

However there...seems to be some extra voices and passengers to this fall-- two people had very ungracefully fallen to the ground with the others, while another one was standing aside, a black figure with complete composure. These three were definitely no Seven or Wise Men.

"Well that was quite a ride," a familiar voice spoke from in the middle of the newly formed pile. "Now, if whoever has his foot on my back were to so kindly remove themselves as soon as possible, it would be appreciated."

"Mffhmffhmwwweee!"

Orpheus was only just above Guybrush in the unfortunate human sandwich. Perhaps one could thank the stars that the pile of bodies had rendered him unable to speak for the moment.

Eiichiro was already attempting to stand up on his end.

"That was...quite a ride..."

To put it lightly.

"Were it my foot, you likely wouldn't be asking that question, so count yourself lucky. I'd say 'quite a ride' is quite the understatement, though," Brainstorm says to Q and Eiichiro, working on trying to upright himself from the awkward hands-and-feet position he'd landed in. Which given the large wings on his back proves a bit trickier than he would like. He does eventually manage to push up enough that he gets into a crouching position near the pile, and looks around to see where they're at.

"...well, I suppose this answers our big question, yet raises a great deal more."

Wait...where was Professor McGonagall? There was just a cat standing close by, its tail twitching as it stood on top of the pile and then jumped off.

Minerva wasn't the only cat in the pile, oddly. There was another black cat, about the same size sitting next to her, ear flicking every so often in annoyance.

And across from both of them was the composed figure who hadn't fallen like a sack of limbs. He slowly turned around to face the group, making no expression as his eyes passed over the Seven to look at the other occupants of the room. Under his waist-long cape, something shifted- the man resting his hand on the long katana he had.

And yet, he said nothing. Simply watched and waited.
