Summary: Otoha has vanished from Hinoto-Ri. Desco is taking it...poorly.
Warnings: Pissed-off Final Boss
Ever since he got out of the hospital, Desco has been sticking to Otoha's side like...well, an emotionally needy little girl. Then, last night, she had a dream - in itself suspicious, since sleep is just a hobby for her - and when she woke up, he was gone.

It didn't take her long to find out that he was completely gone from Hinoto-Ri, given the state of the network, and now...well. There are a lot of craters scattered around Capricorn ward from her tantrum. At the bottom of the deepest one lies Desco, flat on her back with her tentacles absorbed, streaks of dirt covering her body, tears flowing from her golden eyes, and a furious scowl on her face as she pants heavily, catching her breath.

He felt the same and a part of him was perfectly willing to step back and let her tear things up or even help. However, he was over 700 years old and, on occasion, could act the part of the responsible adult; smashing the city might make them feel better, but it probably wasn't the best course of action.

"I don't blame you." He reached out to wipe some of those tears away, patiently. "But, you know, Otoha probably wouldn't like it if we tear up this city; he's adopted it as his own...which means he doesn't want things happening to it."

At 700 years old you are officially the youngest vampire Desco has ever met.

Black mud trickles out from between her claws as she clenches her fists tighter, and her voice is tight with suppressed anger and sorrow as she replies.

"Then...then he shouldn't have left Desco behind!"

She's sitting up now.

Technically, Johnny was fully aware it wasn't Otoha's fault. The dream-asshole had said that some people were 'called' and others weren't. However, that didn't make him feel any better so he doubted it would really help Desco either.

"You're right, he shouldn't have. He's a fuckin jerk, but we can punch him when he gets back." Because he was going to come back. He had to. Dying wasn't an option for the stupid human in Johnny's mind.

"Until then, it isn't nice to break things he'd die to protect just cause we're angry." He reached up to pet her hair again as a soothing gesture. "So, how 'bout, instead of breaking the streets, we break some demons come the thirteenth hour instead, hmm~?"

Desco rubs at the eyes down her torso with both claws, angrily dashing the tears away as she nods. When she speaks, her voice is cold and precise.

"Desco will instill the fear of the Final Boss in everything that sees her."

He leaned down to quickly kiss the top of her head, his own voice taking a cooler, more detached note. "Mmm~ Sounds perfect. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll find something worth our time while we're out~"

With that, she hugs you, both her scowl and her tears clearing up gradually.

"Desco won't let anything hurt you."

That brought a soft smile to his face and he hugged her back.

"And I won't let anything happen to you, either. Now then, how about we get out of this pit and go make a nuisance of ourselves~?"

Desco allows herself to luxuriate in the hug for a few seconds before breaking away and releasing her tentacles and rising into the air.

"Desco hopes there will be something capable of fighting back."

Johnny smirked, dissolving into bats to follow her up to the surface and re-formed there.

"Oh, if we look in the right places, I'm sure we'll find something~ Where would you like to go?"

Her funk having been marginally dispelled, Desco finally notices the bat thing.

"Uncle Johnny, you're a vampire?"

He glanced down at her in surprise for a moment, but quickly recovered. That wasn't usually the thing that gave it away, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

"I am~ Have been for a while. I'm surprised you know what we are, I've met a number of people who didn't even know what vampires were."

Desco puffs her chest out with pride at that and nods eagerly.

"Mr. Valzy is also a vampire! He taught Desco all about being a Final Boss!"

His smile widened and he offered to take her hand as they walked.

"Oh really? Well, it's clear he did his job and that you are an excellent student because I think you're a wonderful Final Boss."

Desco reabsorbs her tentacles, touching down lightly on the ground as she slips her claws into your offered hand. She giggles happily at your compliment, her tail thumping against the ground.

"Yes! Desco was very lucky to learn from Valzy!"

She beams up at you, distracted by happy memories.

"Desco is the only Final Boss who can say she was trained by Tyrant Valvatorez, the strongest vampire in the universe!"

He smiled, amused by the thought. "I wish I could meet him." If only because he was the oldest and one of the strongest vampires from his world, he wouldn't mind meeting someone stronger or wiser. "What sort of things was he teaching you?"

Desco starts ticking off lessons on her claws.

"No one will play a game where the Final Boss has an unblockable instant death attack that is used in the first turn. A Final Boss must be able to take the hero's strongest attack head-on without flinching! A Final Boss must always keep in mind the dignity of their position! The Final Boss must always accept their defeat with grace, and leave just enough ambiguity in their defeat to leave room for a sequel! The more transformations the Final Boss has, the less time there is for special attacks! If you are going to offer the hero half the world, do it before the battle starts! Always leave behind a fresh feeling like a cool breeze when you win! Eat sardines!"

...wait what was that last one?

Hmmm....yeah, that all sounded good, and he was proud of himself for not laughing all through the checklist.

But that last one..."What do sardines have to do with anything? Unless...they're supposed to make you seem more evil or something." Yeah, no idea on that one.

Desco actually looks a little embarrassed at that.

"Mr. Valzy, uh...used sardines as a substitute for human blood for five hundred years."

Slight pause as Desco absently kicks at the ground, putting a little too much strength into it and briefly embedding her foot in the dirt.

"But he's still really fearsome as long as he's not talking about sardines!"

That...makes him pause. Sardines as a substitute for human blood? He had the feeling it wouldn't work for him, but he really wished he could ask how that worked. Eating salty little fish would certainly be better, in his mind, than treating his currently absent partner like a sippy cup once a month.

"Huh. Well, if that worked for him, I'm glad. Although...I'm sure you don't need to eat sardines to be a Big Bad."

Desco nods in agreement.

"That's right! All Desco needs to conquer the world is her love for Big Sis and the joy of violence!"
