Penguin's Nest Grand Opening
Who: King DeDeDe, the employees of the Penguin's Nest, a whole bunch of succubi and incubi, and YOU
Where: The Penguin's Nest in the Taurus District
Summary: There's a new nightclub in town, and it's having its grand opening tonight
Warnings: This place is an adult entertainment venue, so potentially sex, drugs, alcohol, and things like that. Probably just regular mingling and chatting, though.
[Creepy graffiti be damned, this penguin has a club to open. It's been a busy few weeks: getting the electricity connected, hiring employees, orchestrating various demons that showed up looking for work that would suit their own appetites, and schmoozing with the locals in the area to ensure everything would go off smoothly without any native / visitor strife on the big night.
The work seems to have paid off, and the place is newly renovated and ready for business. The area around the entrance has been cleaned up, and there's a velvet rope outside to mark the building as something other than a simple warehouse. The door has an emblem of a cartoon DeDeDe giving a V-for-victory sign - his personal insignia from when he was still the king of Dreamland.
Piano music can be heard from behind the door, inviting visitors in for a night of adult pleasure. Do you enter?]
((OOC: The club is open for business! Threadjacking and mingling is encouraged. If there's anything I've missed, or if there's a location you'd like to play in that I haven't made a thread for, feel free to create your own.))

Still, she couldn't help the curiosity that struck her when she heard that DeDeDe had a business opening up... and with everything on her mind weighing down on her shoulders lately, a little alcohol probably wouldn't hurt either.
When the bounty hunter entered the club, she wasn't wearing her armored suit or her zero suit (probably to DeDeDe's disappointment), but instead came in wearing a 'casual' military outfit fit for a starfleet commander, her hair pinned up.
Surprisingly, the place wasn't as loud as she'd expected it to be, which was a comfort. It was certainly as uplifting as she'd expected, but she could deal with uplifting better than loud.
Samus made her way through the club, glancing here and there at the peculiar guests before seating herself at the bar.]

He saw the woman approaching before she sat down and assessed that, based on the way she carried herself and how she was dressed, she was one of those types who needed to loosen up. Once she was seated, he offered her a charming smile.]
Is there something I can get for you, dear lady?
no subject
Something kind of strong... with not much taste. Anything you recommend?
[She was just looking for a buzz to kill her bad mood, really. Unfortunately she wasn't really able to name too many drinks. Even when she was in the military she didn't drink all that often, only ever to celebrate successful missions with her squad, on her commanding officer's insistence.]
no subject
I assume you mean 'not much taste' overall and not just you don't want to taste the alcohol.
[There were more fruity drinks for that.]
I think I have something. It'll do the job quickly in exchange for a pretty nasty kick at first, all alcohol fumes burning your nose and all that, but the kick fades quickly. It's about as tasteless as you're going to get.
no subject
Strong and tasteless is fine with me... [Please don't get her drunk with one shot, Johnny.]
How much is it?
no subject
How much? For you? Nothing~
[He winks.]
See if you like it first, I wouldn't want you to pay for something you didn't even enjoy.
no subject
[It's been a rough couple of weeks.]
no subject
What'cha drinkin'? First one's on me.
no subject
I have no idea. [But she's taking a swig anyway.] I'm sure the Aran of your world would've been more familiar with these kinds of places, considering she'd had more time to spend down on the ground in an actual city.
[Despite her dry tone, Samus gives DeDeDe a small smile.] I'm surprised you already have a place of your own set up and running. Things been going smoothly for you?
no subject
Yeah, she knew her way around the city all right.
[Still purposefully vague on the details, of course.]
Smooth as ever, I suppose. Gotta say, I didn't expect that many people to actually volunteer to work in a place like this.
no subject
[She presses the palm of her hand against her forehead as the alcohol is really starting to take effect...]
They volunteered? You didn't hire them?
no subject
[He shrugs a bit.]
Might wanna slow down a little on the hard stuff if you're not used to it. 'Specially if you're drinkin' from the bottom shelf.
[A small chuckle as he waves his hand.]
Oh, no, 'course I'm payin' 'em. But shakin' your body for money... well, generally either the money's gotta be real good or you gotta be real desperate, y'know?
no subject
[For far too many reasons, actually. At first Samus seems to heed his warning about her drink, as she stares at it with almost curiosity as to the things it was doing to her mind. However, in the end, she finishes it off and sets aside the empty glass, sitting up straight and swaying a little in the process. Well, despite the dizziness, at least she was feeling more relaxed now. Though she might have overdone it just a bit.
The hunter looks over her shoulder at those working around the club, and she could see his point... Still, though.]
I try not to pass judgement on those based on their professions... it'd make me a rather nasty sounding hypocrite, wouldn't it?
no subject
[What with the being dead there and all. DeDeDe just shrugs, watching Samus knock back her drink like a pro.]
Glad to hear it. I ain't exactly in the business of judgin' people for it either. Everybody's gotta do what they can do, whether it's blastin' aliens in the face or sellin' this kind of entertainment. If you got a talent for it, doesn't make much sense not to make some coin on it.
no subject
[She was probably something close to a mercenary, really, but she liked to view her relationship with the Federation as far more professional than that.]
I make enough to supply myself for my missions, and then enough to get by... [Samus pinches the bridge of her nose a little. Yup, here comes the wooziness, she probably had one too many of those drinks. It's making her tongue a little looser than it normally would be.]
Sometimes I wish I could get away from it for a while... the job demands so many sacrifices... maybe that's the real reason I'm still here in Hinoto-Ri.
no subject
[DeDeDe briefly waves over the bartender before continuing the conversation.]
Get the lady a chaser.
[And then back to Samus.]
Well, it's not my first choice for a vacation spot, but it ain't bad, either.
no subject
I think I've had enough for one night...
[Though her refusal is only halfhearted. Her inhibitions aren't exactly top tier right now, after all. Samus leans over the bar a bit, propping her elbows on the table and gripping her head.]
... I think, if I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have needed the 'vacation'. When I'm on a mission, I try to put away all sense of emotional attachment until it's completed, for the sake of efficiency...
I was hoping I wouldn't have to cope with the fact that I recently killed two of my fellow bounty hunters until after I returned home and completed my mission. This place has made me think about it far more than I had been expecting...
no subject
Don't worry 'bout it. You look like you've had plenty. Here, drink up.
[DeDeDe respects Samus. He's not about to shove drinks at her until she doesn't know up from down.]
Killed 'em...? Sounds like a hell of a story, but I won't ask if you don't feel like rememberin' it any more.

Evil twins, radioactive substances, extreme cases of insanity... I'm well equipped to handle stressful situations like this, I just haven't received any closure on the situation yet...
My current concern is the status of my condition. That... place, that I went to.... taunted me, showed me my fate if I were to succumb to the Phazon corrupting me.
I just need a break.

no subject
... I don't exactly think that will be a problem.
[Dressed like a soldier and giving off an air that she would be ready to break off someone's arm if they tried anything funny, she doesn't think anyone will even want to come near her.]
I'm not used to places like this but it's been a relaxing night. Your bartender is at least pleasant enough.

[She drinks some more of the water before gesturing to her eyes.]
He wasn't human. And I wouldn't describe him as short, so in all likelihood I mean Johnny.
