Ichiban Market Golden Week Lottery!

Summary: The market is closed for Golden Week, but it's running a lottery promotion on the sidewalk.
Warnings: Gratuitous use of action brackets in a log post.

[The Ichiban Market from Nano's home world always closes every year so that its employees have more time to enjoy Golden Week and to restock the store, but there's also usually some sort of special sidewalk promotion designed to drum up more business when they reopen. Nikolai is the day to day manager, but Nano's stayed on as kind of a consultant since she's from the same world, and so she's spent the past week or so organizing a storefront lottery for the store to get rid of overstocked merchandise and stuff nobody ever buys anyway give away some fabulous prizes and appreciate their customers!

Nano herself is wearing an apron with the store's name on the front, a pair of cosplay cat ears from her other job, and is manning a Japanese style revolving lottery machine with multicolored marbles corresponding to each prize.  She's joined by store manager Nikolai, wearing his usual business attire, and also their newest employee - a ten year old girl by the name of Akane Awakusu.  She's decked out in a happi coat and a white headband, waving advertisement flyers and handing out promotional packs of tissues to anyone who lingers in front of the store for long enough to listen.  There is a sign set up next to the table they're all standing near announcing the lottery, with big bold text: GRAND PRIZE!  ONE NIGHT TRIP FOR TWO TO THE AMAGI INN!

Anyone is free to step up and try their luck!]

((OOC: To play the lottery, go to random.org, generate a number between 1 and 100, and put it in the header of your tag to find out if your character wins anything.  Please check the thread to see if the number you got has already been taken, and roll again if that's the case.  You can also just show up to talk to Nano, Nikolai, or Akane by putting one of their names in the header.  The only way to find out what the prizes are is to play!))

I don't know how to fix it if it is, but I can at least make a meal if everything is working.

"I'm sure someone can be hired to fix it. Its just a cafeteria kitchen. Just knowing how to make edible food is a skill I never cultivated. All I can make is what Yurika called food..."

There is a distinct pause and a slight green twinge to her pale face at the thought.

"Made with love."

"Yes. Purple is not a shade that vanilla cake should be."

...It wasn't food coloring?

"Sweet rice flour."

But that... isn't purple...

Actually it is when it gets wet

"No, its black, till you get it wet, and add wine instead of water because that's more romantic."

I think I understand now.

Ruri just nods, still a little green.

"People in love can be kind of stupid sometimes."

I wouldn't know.

"Its a terrifying thing to behold."

It sounds kind of nice though, don't you think? Being in love with someone.

"....I guess. Given how people leave though, it has only been painful in my experience."

But I don't think that's a reason not to open up to people. The time that I was the most alone was when I was afraid to do that.

"I've never been good at opening up to people. I grew up without the training so since the ones I was closest to left I've been... Guarded."

Isn't that just as lonely?

She shrugs a little.

"Normally I had my work to get lost in, here not so much."

At school there are clubs to help people with similar interests meet each other and make friends. Maybe you could try starting something like that. There are a lot of other people here who know things about computers and robots, for example!

[She should know, after all, considering how they flooded out of the woodwork to help her when her arm malfunctioned.]

"I'm not sure I have the temperament for teaching."

I didn't mean you should try to get a teaching job, just that maybe you can have a club where people who already know things like that can meet to talk about it.

"Most of the people that work with those things I wouldn't thing would go to school though."

It doesn't have to be at school at all. You could just... have a club.

"Maybe if I find one. I'm not good at forming things like that."
