A Wild Trainer Appears!

Summary: Kotoha's out and about, riding all around the city

[Virgo Ward] OPEN
Kotoha's pretty well settled in by now, so it's time to go shopping! She's wandering around the shops of Virgo Ward, Arthur in tow to act as a pack mule. In Kotoha's token nod to staying low-profile, the jackal-like Pokemon is wearing a pair of black sunglasses.

Currently, she's in Junes, leafing through a copy of the first Junes Invasion book and giggling.

[Cancer Ward] OPEN
A remnant of Atomic Robo's memories has stuck with Kotoha, and she's interested in exploring the possibilities - which is why she came to Cancer Ward. Currently, she's in a small hobby shop, looking over a selection of airsoft guns while Arthur waits outside, still wearing his sunglasses and loaded down with bags. The Lucario has his arms crossed underneath his chest spike and is leaning against the outside wall of the shop, visibly bored with the entire process of waiting.

[Capricorn Ward] OPEN
Lunchtime sees Kotoha in the Capricorn Plains, enjoying a pre-packaged sandwich and bottle of iced tea she picked up while Solar Logos and Tesla fly overhead in a mock dogfight, creating a brilliant light show - the Volcarona releasing torrents of flame which the Magnezone deflects with shining lasers and jolts of electricity.

It's a few minutes before the 13th Hour, and Kotoha is waiting in front of the JP's Headquarters with what appears to be a sea lion of some kind, one hand resting on the creature's shoulders.

Kotoha spent quite a while picking out the perfect outfit for her date - not as casual as her normal combination of culottes and black stockings, but not super formal either. She's currently smoothing out the plaid skirt and fussing with the hair ribbons while waiting for Ruri to show up at the small park they agreed to meet in.

Kotoha replies in a distracted fashion, eying Fenghuang warily.

"It looks a lot like Ho'oh, a legendary Pokemon from the Johto region sometimes referred to as the 'Lord of Resurrection'."

She circles around it warily before addressing Fumi once again.

"It focuses on fire and physical attacks, I'm guessing?"

Hm... interesting. You'll have to tell me more about that later.

As for Fenghuang, its attacks are fire, ice, and wind.

Kotoha nods in reply.

"Sounds like we have good coverage, then. Now, shall we wait for Scorpina to report back, or would you prefer to go look for her?"

I'm content to wait. That's what scouts are for, after all.

Kotoha nods in response to this and starts going through some stretches as they wait. It doesn't take long for Scorpina to show up, flying low to the ground and clacking her pincers as a signal. Kotoha has a brief, quiet conversation with her before turning to Fumi.

"There's about four demons approximately a minute's flight northeast of here. Given the speed Scorpina usually uses, we should be able to get there in...two or three minutes, I think?"

All right. Let's go, then.

It doesn't take long before a group of strange, dog-like creatures comes into view. Kotoha's voice is hushed as she addresses Fumi.

"How do you want to do this?"

Kobolds.

[Fumi laughs quietly.]

These are some of the weakest demons out there. Between your Pokemon and my own demons, they'll be no trouble at all. They're weak to fire, if you care to know.

Kotoha absorbs that information and nods.

"Get to it, Victini!"

With that, she torches all four Kobolds with a Maragi spell.

[And down go the Kobolds in a blast of fire.]

Well, that was short.

Kotoha frowns.

"...yeah. Kind of boring, really."

...please don't tempt fate, Kotoha.

[You asked for it, Kotoha, and you got it. In the wake of a group of demons that could be compared to tiny little yappy dogs, the equivalent of a doberman has just shown up.]

Ah, Cerberus... well, this should be far more interesting.

[Dismissing Fenghuang, Fumi keeps Tao Tie out as she also summons her Persona, Vapula. The beast is far enough away at the moment that she can at least get off a quick Weakness Scan before the battle begins in earnest.]

Very interesting. It's weak to Water.

[Calling out toward Kotoha, Fumi takes several steps back.]

I'll support you, Tao Tie, and your Pokemon with analysis from Vapula. I'm going to scan for what not to use next, and then I should be able to start chipping away at its defenses. Can you handle fending it off until then?

Kotoha nods as she falls back behind Tomoe.

"I'll be fine."

With a wave of her hand, she directs Victini to cast Tarukaja on Tomoe and then settles down the serious business of directing her Pokemon.

"Tomoe, use Aqua Jet! Scorpina, back her up with Ice Fang!"

The Samurott, boosted by the Tarukaja, lets out an impressive rumble as she suddenly rockets forward on a column of water, smashing into the Cerberus, while Scorpina, her jaws spread wide and her fangs coated with ice crystals, swoops in and latches onto the demon's long tail.

[The water attack collides with Cerberus, knocking it over just in time to take another heavy hit from the Ice Fang. It's not done yet, though - this is a strong demon, and now it's even angrier. Standing up and shaking its mighty form in an attempt to knock Scorpina loose, it breathes a gout of flame at the Pokemon and tamers alike.]

Hnnn...!

[Unfortunately, Fumi's Persona happens to be weak against Fire attacks, so she's hit especially hard by this one. She's not down and out just yet, though, and manages to struggle to her feet to command her own demon.]

Tao Tie!

[Rather than unleash an attack of its own, the demonic sheep falls back to cast a Diarahan spell on Fumi, restoring her to full health. It doesn't seem all that bothered by the flames, having shrugged most of them off itself. Standing again, Fumi once again scans - this time for strengths.]

Don't use lightning.

Victini resists Fire, so Kotoha manages to scrape through the attack herself - which, frankly, was not what she expected. Her eyes wide, she casts a second Tarukaja on Scorpina and continues directing them. There's a slight tremble in her hand as she points at the Cerberus.

"Earthquake! Surf!"

At the command, Tomoe starts to glow, a blue light like the sun shining through water surrounding her. With a roar, the Samurott summons a tidal wave that crashes into the lion-like demon. Meanwhile, Scorpina has flown upward at Kotoha's command, hovering over the battlefield while Tomoe drowns everything. As the massive wave dies down, the Gliscor drops into a dive, literally propelling herself down with a single tremendous sweep of her wings. As she reaches the bottom, she starts to spin, turning her entire body into a massive drill as a glow the color of sand outlines her body. Upon impact with the ground, the glow cascades outward in a shockwave that rends the earth asunder and sends chunks of rock and dirt spraying forward directly into the demon's side.

[The combined strength of those two attacks at once is almost enough to send the demon back to whatever hellish dimension it crawled out of in the first place. One more hit should do it. In the meantime, it lashes out against Samurott with a mighty series of blows from Deathbound, hoping to at least take its strongest opponent down with it.]

I'm going to try something new.

[Fumi, still taking point with her analysis Persona, closes her eyes and concentrates for a moment. Her Persona glows briefly, and there is now a floating translucent screen and keyboard setup in front of Fumi. Her fingers fly like lightning across the keys as a strange light envelops the Cerberus, and then the display vanishes once again.]

Take out Tesla and use lightning. It should work now, and should be plenty to finish it off. I'll have Tao Tie take care of Tomoe in a moment.

Kotoha draws out Tesla's Pokeball and releases the Magnezone. As her three pokemon fall into formation, she takes a deep breath to steady herself and proceeds to direct them.

"Aqua Jet! Acrobatics! Thunderbolt!"

Tomoe charges forward once again on a column of roaring water, smashing into the Cerberus and roughly shoving it towards Scorpina, who puts on a blurring burst of speed and knocks the demon into the air. Tesla's main eye locks on to the lion-like demon and flashes red as it discharges a bolt of lightning from its main antenna.

[The combination of attacks is plenty to take down the Cerberus, with the Thunderbolt attack providing the coup de grace. Fumi dismisses Vapula and smiles, walking up to Kotoha as Tao Tie drops another Diarahan on her Samurott.]

Excellent. Exactly as planned. It seems my Persona picked up a rather useful skill.

Kotoha surveys the three pokemon that are currently out and recalls both Tomoe and Scorpina before looking over at Fumi.

"Oh? What's that?"

Rooting through her bag once again, Kotoha draws out a mottled green ball and uses to release a massive, six-winged moth in a burst of darkness.

Hacking.

[Fumi smiles.]

Specifically, it appears to be able to manipulate innate elemental affinities. I was able to downgrade a lightning-absorbing affinity to one that merely reduces the damage from lightning attacks.

Kotoha smiles back and nods in appreciation.

"Not bad!"

She pauses for a second as something occurs to her.

"You know, I just thought of something. If I ever get the opportunity, I'd love to see how you'd train a Porygon."

Another Pokemon, I take it. Why that one in particular?

"Porygon was the first man-made Pokemon - it's essentially a computer program that has a material body."

A shrug as she stretches a little.

"They've been around for...like, seventeen years now, I think?"

Interesting. I'd like to see that.

Kotoha nods in agreement.

"A friend showed me hers once - they're actually pretty strong!"
