Summary: We have a pool now!  Summer fun for everyone!

[It's summer, and what would summer be without a pool?  Well, thankfully for the good citizens and Visitors of Hinoto-Ri, the public pool is finally open for business!  With three different pools, a snack bar, and plenty of space on the grass for playing frisbee or just laying out to get some sun, there's plenty of summertime fun for everyone!  There are also a number of pool toys to use, ranging from basketball hoops and plastic balls, water noodles, boogie boards, and just about anything else you can think of.]

It'd be totally worth it, though! My life is worth a lot; I've got the record for Donkey Crown in three arcade stores in Shinjuku!

[Atsuro is at least dignified about plummeting to his death. The skinny boy simply takes a small breath before jumping in as rigidly as a stick.]

You realize just touching the water isn't enough to drown you, right?

[Atsuro deliberately stays at the bottom of the pool as long as he can just to spite Hizumi before he slowly bobs to the top.]

...T-There, see? Exercise.

[He says as he clings to his noodle for dear life.]

Congrats, you've exercised enough to burn off a grain of rice!

[He idly kicks around a bit, pushing his own pool noodle underwater in the process.]

A grain of rice is exercised off in a half minute of breathing. That was at least five.

[Atsuro huffily floats forward a few more feet.]

[Well, at least that makes him an easy target.

With a mischievous grin, Hizumi suddenly brings the noodle up again, blowing into one end so that the water that was previously inside comes shooting out the side and straight at Atsuro.]

[The water of course strikes Atsuro straight in the face, sending him reeling backwards into the water and away from his noodle.

He slowly sinks great job Hizumi.]

[bondsofsuffering]

[And then Hizumi's first murder wasn't a cursed Blade Child but an ordinary human instead.

Wh...oops...?]

[...Atsuro pops up after a few seconds of glubbing and sticks out his tongue.]

Splashing people is rude, you know.

With weather like this, you should be grateful for the cool water!

Yeah, the cool, Hizumi-spit contaminated water.

[Actually it probably had everyone's spit in it. Atsuro leisurely floats a few feet further into the deeper part of the pool.]

Well, if you really think about it, the pool water is probably really filthy but... That's what the chlorine is for, isn't it?

[Atsuro harassment over for the moment, he's just idly hanging onto the pool noodle to keep himself afloat now.]

I read somewhere that most pool water is generally around 0.5% urea.

[Thank you for that gem of knowledge Atsuro it probably isn't even true.]

It'd probably depend on the pool though, don't you think? I could see that being true for a shallower one where you have kids who probably shouldn't even be in the pool to start with.

[He snags a stray pool noodle, adding it to his first one. Maybe he can make a raft...]

...OK, I think it was time for a change of topic about ten minutes ago.

How'd you learn how to swim? Took lessons when you were a kid?

[And Hizumi just laughs at that. Atsuro is surprisingly easy to put off during conversations.]

Yup! It was a while ago, but it's not so hard to remember again once you're in the water.

That's what most people say, but they never seem to be able to explain how swimming works, exactly.

[Atsuro gives a small shrug.]

You mean besides the general rule of trying to stay afloat?

[otakuro]

My rule is 'hold on to the noodle'. I'm sure other people have different rules, but they don't explain it very well.

And you wanted to go into the adult pool?

[otakuro]

Hey - It's not like I sink immediately or anything. I know about treading water.

[bondsofsuffering]

Just treading water for a while like that doesn't sound too interesting...

If swimming gives you so much trouble, you should just find someone to teach you.

It hasn't really been on my list of priorities.

[Atsuro gives a small shrug.]

And I really don't think I have to worry about drowning in Hinoto-Ri. We aren't exactly near an ocean.

You say that now, but just you wait until the Aquarius event comes and we're all left to drown!

Aquarius was back in January! I've got half a year before it swings around again.
