Clipping the Wings of Night

Who: Open to All
Where: INSIDE the city & the Mictlan
When: From the 9th until the early morning of the 16th.
Summary: A town meeting and temple pillaging
Warnings: Depends on the players!
Music: This one | Map: See the Temple Layout for each level

9TH, 11h30AM, REMAINS OF CITY HALL
At Q's Request, Visitors gather near the remains of town hall. The half destroyed stone structure stands with three walls to serve as office, along with one undamaged desk. The situation is dire and serious.

Q is standing looking at a map along with the mayor, his assistant, Isabelle, and the Commissioner General of the Hinoto-Ri Police Force. When they see Visitors arriving, they silently nod, waiting for the time to address them all. There's not much to do, but the place is in shambles, and people are moving all around.

Members of the police and MAGI are slowly carting away pieces of the barrier that had fallen down. Perhaps it would be possible to grab a small, chipped part of it when they aren't looking? Or maybe Visitors can conduct a search in the debris nearby on their own accord...that seems less like stealing.

Probably.

9TH-16TH, 13TH HOURS

The Mictlan stands defiant against the reddish moon. The monsters around have become more bold, waiting to attack Visitors as they watch the city rise at night. Thankfully a few police officers have been tasked to aid them in collecting the Plumes of Dusk.

"Are you in teams yet," Q asks, as members of MAGI around him carry containers that will be used to collect the gathered items. Isabelle serves as the mayor's representative, and to count them as Visitors come back from their temple runs. Q is making sure everyone is safe...in his own way.

"Don't go in there alone like fools! Make sure you're working at least with someone else. We'll be keeping tabs up here for safety precautions. As soon as you're ready, let's get to work!"

Delayed Arrival

Who: Anyone
Where: The tail end of Aquarius
When: The 15th of January
Summary: Some people like to make a dramatic re-entry. Kandori and Q rearrive in ~style~
Warnings: Danger?

After the Coming of Age celebration, the city was quiet for the next two days...at least until the 13th Hour. As the clocks stopped working, the night sky suddenly lit up as bright as day - onlookers gaped and townspeople screamed in terror as a large object, the source of the light, streaked across the sky, leaving a trail behind.

Those out patrolling could have easily followed its path as it flew close to most buildings before disappearing and slamming into the barrier on the Aquarius sector. A loud sound echoed through most of the city, sounding like a bomb had gone off. For all the populace knew, that was exactly what had just happened. Thankfully, the barrier stood.

Then all was quiet again, save for the whispers and murmurs of the townspeople. No one would dare to venture closer to source of the panic, especially so far away from the central town and so close to a hub of demon activity.

...Or, at least, until the Visitors were all contacted and politely asked (more likely begged) to go see what was happening while the police continued to maintain status quo. They had a feeling that whatever had happened, the crash site would be heavily guarded.

Time to gather and go see what has happened exactly...

The Coming of Age

Who: Anyone
Where: Capricorn Park
When: The 13th of January
Summary: A celebration
Warnings: Stay away if you are allergic to celebrations and fun.

In a city where the mortality rate is determined by the whims of demons and danger, those that manage to survive until they are 20 and enter the adult age are to be celebrated, just as the child festival two months ago. Last year the month of January was marked by a Grand Prix destroyed by the Anoli. This year the mayor had wisely decided to pool the city’s budget into something a little more quiet, refined, yet full of the hospitality and jubilation that only Hinoto-Ri could offer. They were a proud people, for better or worse. Despite all of the ills thrown at them, they continued to survive.

The park was illuminated by bright orange lanterns and white lights on every tree, both representing hope for the future… and all the lives that had been lost last year.

The young adults going to celebrate Seijin no hi were wearing outfits either bought or borrowed. Females were decked in furisode, the white fur coats draped over their outfits to provide warmth. The males were dressed for the most part in traditional hakama, but a few wore the suit and tie business combo. If someone from the visitors was reaching twenty this year or last year, they were invited to join as well. It didn’t matter that upon returning those ages might be lost, this celebration was open to all. When the snow started to really fall later during the evening, participants were handed white umbrellas.

With the children becoming adults, there was much more emphasis on adult food and games; you might get lucky and win a bottle of sake by playing a ring toss, or even Japanese beer (of course this was only opened to those above 20). For those a little lower age, there was apple and grape sparkling drinks.

More traditional games were lined up as well including the popular goldfish scooping and bobbing for apples. Tables for chess, Japanese mahjong and go were set up close to the park, as elders and the new adults faced off. Crowds gathered to see how they would do and once in a while a group would clap in glee when the younger emerged triumphant. It was a sign of good luck for years to come.

Later that night there was to be a talk by the city officials and priests, as well as a concert, that was going to be hosted by one of the visitor's own.

And for one of the rare times, the feeling was that of peace and quiet. Maybe things were looking up after all that work you’d all been doing.
