A Week in the Life of a Part Time Job Slave

Where: Virgo, Aquarius, and Taurus Districts; any given week.
Summary: The jobs Yu applied for called back... all of them. He chose two willingly, because how bad could they be? The third... well...
Warnings: ...may be some Nyx in here. :|b

[Yu was always one to work hard if he wanted something. All those books he owns? Yeah, they didn't pay for themselves, you know. And right now he had extra motivation for working hard: Nanako was here, and he needed to look after her and her comfort -- after all, his uncle would probably hang him if he didn't.]

[So when all those jobs called him back at once? He had some things to think about. Accepting the job at Mays wasn't that hard to decide; it was the highest paying one in the long run, and if he was lucky there would be an employee discount. The second choice was a little harder, but ultimately a good idea; working in the kids section of the library would be an easy job, and he could always bring Nanako with him if she wanted to spend time with him. A win-win situation either way.]

[...and then he got that call. Again. He almost rejected it outright, but... well... he really wanted to make sure Nanako wanted for nothing...]

[S I G H; it was going to be his summer vacation all over again.]

[MONDAY-WEDNESDAY; MAYS GROCERY STORE CLERK, 5:00-11:00PM]
[This was probably the lesser of the evils Yu would ever have to do. He was slightly familiar with grocery store work, thanks to Yosuke asking for a favor at Junes every now and then. It wasn't really that bad at all, just... hectic, and some customers were flat out rude.]

[If you want to talk to him, Yu can be found servicing the grocery area; he's responsible for stocking shelves and promoting sale items as needed.]

[THURSDAY-FRIDAY; AQUARIUS DISTRICT LIBRARY, 5:00-9:00PM]
[Yu really did love kids, he really did. After all, when you had someone like Nanako as a cousin, it was hard not to love kids. The hard part was... remembering not all kids are as sweet and innocent as your baby cousin. Especially the little brat that thought it was a good idea to throw half chewed gum in his hair.]

[...he loves kids. He loves kids.]

[Yu can be found in the children's section of the library; he's responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the area, helping children find books, and making sure the books stay in the proper order.]

[SATURDAY; NYX'S NIGHTCLUB, 10:00PM-4:00AM]
[...your big brother loves you, Nanako. Just remember that.]

[It should go without saying that Yu really didn't want this job. The farther he stayed away from the Taurus district after that first mission, the better. But Nyx was pretty insistent, especially when she started throwing numbers at him. All he had to do was think of how quickly he would be able to get a comfortable apartment for himself and Nanako, and he ended up agreeing... with all the reluctance in the world.]

[He just hoped Nyx remembered her agreement of no pictures. He didn't need pictures of him popping up on the network, where he was pretty sure he'd be recognized, especially by those that had been there that night.]

[Yu can be found on stage, part of a crossdressing act that runs in cycles. When he's not on stage, he's in the dressing room resting and getting ready for the next cycle. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll also be able to catch him sneaking out of or into his apartment with a duffle bag of women's clothes.]

Saturday | Nyx's Nightclub (will Yu ever have time for homework?)

[ Now, Minato doesn't go to a dance club every Saturday, and his sister did give him a couple extremely vague warnings about this place, so he's been a bit wary of it hitherto. However, as his energy levels have been steadily coming back, and he's feeling restless tonight. So clearly the thing to do is go exploring somewhere he's yet to go - and of his array of choices, he ultimately settles on the Taurus district.

Thus, burning with both curiosity and a need to just get out for a bit, there he heads, and if for no other reason than the familiar name, he slips into Nyx's Nightclub just in time for a very special show...

At first he's a bit confused - what sort of club did he wander into, anyway?

But then all such musings are driven from his mind as he sees someone who looks remarkably like Yu... In fact, he's got a suspicion that none of the 'ladies' on stage at the moment are actually ladies, but seeing Yu just confirms it. ... maybe. He's not completely certain that's Yu, after all...

But just in case it is (because this is just too good to miss), Minato discretely snaps a picture with his COMP. ]

[Nearby to Minato is a very drained, very exhausted looking Incubus, stuck in the wall by his koteka, who seemed to be giving him a sad look.]

You got time to be doin' that, but you can't help a brother out...? That's cold, man...

[WHY WOULD NOBODY HELP HIM GET OUT OF THIS DAMN WALL...]

[ At first, Minato is a little confused where the voice is coming from - that is... until he sees that Incubus in the wall. That, at least, is enough to distract him from watching Yu embarrass himself rock that dress on stage. And he just stares blankly at the demon for a few moments. ]

Um... are you... okay?

[Yes, that was Yu. That was Yu flaunting and strutting, showing off a little leg, batting his eyes, all while constantly saying how much he hated his life in his head.]

[...wait. Blue hair? He only knew two people with blue hair, and...]

[...oh god, was that a COMP?]

[Yu fumbled, almost breaking his heels. Oh no, no no no no... Unfortunately he was right in the middle of an act, and he couldn't exactly jump off the stage and tackle him, could he?]

[ Don't worry, bro. He only takes the one picture before being temporarily distracted by a demon, so he misses the fumble. However, he's not busy with the Incubus for so long that he misses the grand finale!

He's hoping names get announced or something to confirm his suspicion (though given the stories his sister told him about her first mission... it's a pretty suspicious suspicion)... Either way, when the show's over, he might just send a text message to Yu... ]

Saturday; something about Pink lyrics and nightclubs

[See, she had been paying attention to the network lately, and while she hadn't said anything... she did indeed wonder when she sensed him wandering out of his sneaking out not long before the 10pm. Especially since he had a little 'sister' here.

It wasn't hard to silently follow him in the dark, sticking to the shadows when she didn't cast Vanish on herself to keep from being seen at all. Stealth had been crucial back when she roamed the worlds and even more so when she became trapped in the darkness. Really, it was child's play. So when she drew closer and noticed the duffel bag and where he was... going...

...Oh my.

She sneaks into the club with him, not really going to comment on it except-]

...that isn't how you apply mascara, Narukami-'chan'.

[AT LEAST SHE DIDN'T WATCH YOU CHANGE? ...and yes, still invisible. This really isn't somewhere she'd let anyone catch her after all.

The 'floating' eye liner may be a hint as to her location, though.]

[Yu damn near jumped out of his skin, coming awfully close to stabbing himself in the eye with the mascara brush. Okay, it wasn't like he made a habit of crossdressing; he had only done it once before coming to this city, and Rise had done his makeup then. On top of it, he had a god in his head that was starting to get rather vocal, something he really wasn't used to.]

[For a moment, he thought it was Izanagi making fun of him, until he saw the "floating" eye liner. What...?]

[Whoops, her bad. She laughed under her breath for a moment before catching herself, removing the cap from the eye liner. Truth be told, she isn't used to having a nymph in her head, but she knew well enough that it could be confusing to hear sudden voices? It... kind of came with the way they communicated between worlds back home.]

Thursday | Library

[ No matter how you look at it, Snake doesn't belong in the children's section of a library. He outgrew these books before he started elementary school. Probably. Forgive him his trespasses, he's a little bit lost. He was able to find the library at all by asking Santa for directions, and then asking strangers on the street for further directions as he walked.

An educated man is a determined man, it seems. The journey is half the fun. And other sayings both made up and clichéd.

Point is, he's in the children's section and looking right at Yu. ]

Excuse me, I was wondering if you could lend me a hand for a moment.

[ This is hilarious because one of his hands is fake and I will never get tired of that line. ]

[Yu looked up from a shelf he was organizing, a bit surprised to see an older individual there amongst the pre-school books.]

[Link is sitting in one of the chairs, a little uncomfortably since his legs are a little too long. He's trying to make it through a book, but he's having trouble, given his expression and little noises of frustration.]

[Oh Link, why are you so adorable? Or, well, Yu would probably think that if he knew you were ten and not... seventeen. Because seriously, this is awkward man.]

Monday | Grocery Store

[OH WELL look who also happens to be a grocery store clerk in the exact same grocery store sharing a couple of shifts with his best friend and partner in crime!]

Hey, dude, is that you?? Damn, I told you we'd end up working together somewhere without even planning it! [Yosuke is donning his clerk apron... proudly? Well, like someone who's really used to wearing these kinds of things.] You were always helping out at Junes and all, I guess it makes sense that you'd pick up a job here. Still, let me know if you need any help, this job will probably be way less boring with two of us working together.

[Yu blinked in surprise, a small smile coming to his face a moment later.]

[Having his best friend present was definitely going to make working here a lot easier. Also, Yosuke, your time at Junes is showing. Still, bro high five here, man.]

[Not that a Being of Power needs sustenance but, well...

A dance club is nothing without a few drinks, and that is exactly what Elizabeth is looking for today. In the wrong aisle, as she's in the cleaning supplies instead of the liquor, but you know. She tries. Really.]

My, I thought one would suffer an intense pain if one drank from such dark liquids... Yet they are a delightful blue color. Theo would be undoubtedly pleased at my choice. [...] Do either of my siblings partake in this...?

[...She's really talking to no one but herself, even if she's speaking loud enough to be heard in the next aisle.]

[...and guess who happens to be in that next aisle. Yu shot up from where he was stocking the bottom shelf, eyes wide in surprise. Oh no, not on a Monday... he wasn't sure he could handle Elizabeth shenanigans at the start of his work week.]

[Hesitantly, he headed to the next aisle, and even with max courage, he wasn't sure if he was brave enough to approach. Somehow he managed it, bracing himself for a headache.]

Friday | Library

[Aziraphale wasn't very good with kids. That isn't to say he didn't like them. He honestly admired their innocence, their potential, and even their wisdom-- for he knew better than most that children could often be wiser than adults, even adults who were several thousand years older than them. But despite liking kids... they really didn't seem to like him.

Never would he forget that one birthday party

So he avoided the children's section whenever possible, extremely grateful for Yu's help in keeping them in check and keeping the place organized. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to matter much when a child insisted on yanking a book from the reference section- it had a pretty picture on the cover- right out of his hands and running away with it into the children's section. The exasperated angel follows after the child, calling after him to hand back the book, rather worried for the book's well being.]

[Fortunately, Yu had already heard the commotion, and was there to catch the run away munchkin before he could get too far with the book. He managed to get the boy to calm down, talking him into handing him over the book, before letting the boy go to join others sharing a picture book.]

[He turned as Aziraphale approached, offering him the book back.]

Tuesday - Grocery

*The loud crash in the canned food aisles suggests that Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty Temp Restocker, might have ballsed it up a bit again. This results in the weirdest cursing you've ever heard in which he seems to be accusing the cans of "fighting like cows." Weird.*

[...oh boy. He's already acquainted with the sound of that strange swearing thanks to that first mission. Now he has a feeling he's going to be associating the sound of a lot of work tumbling to the ground to the supposed pirate.]

[Yu made his way over to the aisles in question, nearly stepping on a can in the attempt. Guybrush, what the hell did you just do?]

Saturday; dear god this will be fun

But why was she out in the middle of the night and with no one to let her know that going into that one place-Nyx's wasn't it?-was a very bad idea?

Because to know the city, sometimes you had to go in the seedy places. It didn't seem too bad when the girl came in. Just in time too because there was a show starting with pretty young women running around. Yukiko blinked twice then gulped, not really wanting that kind of entertainment right now. Ok, time to get the hell out of here.

That is until she noticed someone familiar on stage. She should know it by now because of the festival back home.

Oh sweet goddess Amaterasu. Who got her friend involved in drag again?]
