A Dance in Vivacissimo for the Velvet Room

This time, there didn't seem to be a crisis, but nevertheless, the Velvet roomed showed up once again. As usual, policemen and WAND operatives protected the door, the rendezvous point was well guarded.

As they stepped in, the group weren't given much information as to what exactly you were heading into. Unless you've been a Guest before or had visited two times prior, this entire experience will be completely new...and even if you've been here, the experience is still new.



The bar is spacious and large. The place is oddly calming; as if all the troubles of the city have melted away and you're just drifting in the sea. A multitude of blue butterflies are flying on the ceiling overhead.

Now, for some of those who had been here before, there was something different this time.

The lights were mostly out, the dim bar setting made even more evident. The remaining lights, however, pointed to a musical setup. In the back, a single dark figure bouncing his head back and forth, as the sound began to fill your ears. The voice, for those who have heard her speak, sounds like Caroline was doing the background vocal work.

The Aria of the Soul...just served a little differently.

Now the full meaning of the Velvet Bar comes to fruition.

If you can spot Igor in the farthest corner (it's hard to see without the lights) he has...a pair of sunglasses? He seems to be pretty quiet this evening, and instead Caroline is there to great everyone as the music continues to play.

"Welcome to the Velvet Room. My name is Caroline...and this is DJ Velvet, my brother William."

He responds by raising one of his hands in the air and giving a V sign, before going back to mixing.

"This place exists between mind and matter... A room for those who gave forged a contract... For those who are here for the first time, you now must know that in awakening to the power of Persona granted to you by Philemon, you are bound to a contract. You are all now guests of the Velvet Room. You all have the ability to hold multiple Personas and wield their powers...a wildcard ability. However the rules of this world are rather...unique."

Her tone of voice was clearly much better than the previous two times. Caroline was gaining, slowly a bit more assurance in herself. She also seemed much more relaxed with William around.

"As you continue to live here longer and aid this ailing world, the connection and bonds you forge will reinforce your Destiny String, and allow you to truly unlock your full potential. As stipulated by the contact, we will aid you to the best of our abilities. I hope you find your stay tonight enjoyable."

Caroline then goes behind the bar and awaits for those who might wish to talk with her. Or perhaps you'd like to go see William first?

Ruri quietly walks into the bar and sits there listening to the movie and looking over the drinks.

"So this is now a club?"

Caroline didn't seemed to fazed, and pushed a bluish drink towards her.

"My brother's choice of music for the Velvet Room is...more...I believe the word is modern than Nameless and Belladonna's, I admit."

Loken seems fairly annoyed to have come into here once again. Still, he doesn't openly complain, just looking around and examing the new helmet-clad denizen of the Velvet Room.

The helmet-clad gave him a small wave before going right back at mixing the music inside the room. He was tall...well taller than the rest of the Velvet Room residents, standing at 6'4", but still small compared to Loken.

For Caroline

Much to the confusion of the WAND agents, Latooni had entered the Velvet Room with what was clearly a gift-wrapped bottle of alcohol, and was now looking for someone to give it to.

And Caroline was busy serving drinks at that moment. When she finally came over, she gave Latooni a smile.

"Good evening." Her tone was much brighter than last month.

This is her first time visiting such a place. Yukiko's first thought when she entered the bar: 'There's so much blue'.

What intrigued her more was not the music but rather Caroline speaking about the ability to use multiple personas. So it's possible for everyone in the city to do such a thing? Then it got her thinking back to when the scorpions were attacking everyone...she didn't have anything to help Yu when he was poisoned and just scrapped by the skin of her teeth getting him help.

So would this be the answer?

Meetra, this time, decided not to make her way to the bar to complain immediately, instead listening more intently. She also, in enjoying the soothing atmosphere of the place, noticed someone she vaguely recognized.

Ah, right, the girl who'd been with that strange kid dressed as a Jedi, now not looking like she'd raided Mira's closet for formalwear. Well, Mira's equivalent of formalwear.

"She makes it sound pretty glamorous, huh?" she asked, of Caroline's speech.

Sasha sauntered into the Velvet Room with one of those laundromat hanger bags. "Caroliiiiine~!" she chimed, a playful lilt to her voice. "I've got something I think you'll like!"

"Indeed?" Happiness was infectious, especially for a resident of the Velvet Room, and she gave her a warm smile. She had a good idea of what was inside, but, oh dear, she had to be a proper resident of the Velvet Room.

Pharos remembered this place, even it had been a spacious elevator endlessly traveling upward the last occasion he had personally visited the dimension between mind and matter. The door that shines blue and the man behind the door in the Room—now the Bar—full of plush upholstery, shimming blue butterflies, and calming music, it was all familiar even if there were new faces.

"You're one of Igor's new Attendants, I assume?" he asked one of the said new faces with a half smile on his lips.

So, he had been correct in his assumption that this city was full of people who could summon multiple Personas both naturally and unnaturally. And he'd gained that ability as well with his arrival into this universe. Interesting. The child couldn't help, but wonder what his own inner self was.

The man in the helmet nodded at him. He was indeed one of the new residents of the Velvet Room.

Sephiran was having a bit of difficulty getting used to Hinoto-Ri, to say the least. All the strange technology and materials and aesthetics were a tad overwhelming at times. Nonetheless, he managed to pry himself away from staring at the fridge and microwave and stove and other modern appliances in his apartment to investigate this Velvet Room place. Multiple Personas...? He had barely gotten used to his original one. He was going to hold off on getting more for now.

However, what really got Sephiran's attention was the music. It was a little grating and confusing to his ears, but the vocals were beautiful. "Whose voice is that...?" he wondered aloud, mesmerized.

"That would be mine..." Caroline said from her post, very much pleased with this praising. "William recorded it using his electrical machines and created a modern, upbeat melody with it!"

Yes. Modern Upbeat Melody.

For William, I guess?

Shura came into the Velvet Room sick, exhausted, and cursed. Yamato had been pressing her on to find a way to summon the Lady, so far to no avail, and between him and Marogareh, she hadn't gotten much sleep.

Normally she didn't like that type of music much, especially on so little sleep, but something in the beat was soothing her instead of giving her a pounding headache. Slowly, she made her way to the DJ's mixing table as her curse was dispelled; when she reached it, she was cured, but she nonetheless sat on the stage and rested her head against the table's leg.

"Don't stop playing, DJ," she asked.

Don't worry, DJ Velvet wasn't going to stop playing the music any time soon. Take all the time you need, in this place between the conscious and the unconscious.

Caroline; then OPEN

Lev looks around, confused at this place. He's familiar with the basic concept of a nightclub but he's never been in one. He heads over to Caroline, a little hesitant.

"I'm not sure I understand this whole Persona thing. I don't understand why the thing that appeared took the form that it did."

He's not so sure he deserves an angel of mercy.

Later, Lev wanders around, trying to see who else is in this place. Don't mind a very quiet boy staring at you a bit.

She hands him a drink (don't worry, it's alcohol free!) before speaking.

"A Persona is a facet of your personality that surfaces as you react to external stimuli. It protects you from hardships."

As if this somehow answered everything.

Asem drops into a seat at the bar and orders a drink. He's only nineteen, though, so it's just a cola. He took the time to just look around the room and see what else was going on, trying to take his mind off the fact that he still hadn't awakened his Persona.

A very bluish cola, nonetheless.

"How are you?" she asked him after a few minutes.

Kais grabs a seat at the bar, helmet in his lap. He has no idea what's going, even with the explanations. Still, a drink seems nice and hopefully they'll have something for all species though he was sure he could imbibe anything a human could.

"What am I doing here?"

He was sure that question had probably already been answered but it never hurt to ask a question multiple times. Well, it never hurt if the other person didn't get mad.

"Dealing with sorcery."

Grumbles Loken, who is mostly just scowling at everyone.

"Wow. This place has got some nightlife...," Rise observed, listening happily to the background music. Not exactly her taste, but the singing and the mixing were both really impressive, and she couldn't help but enjoy the melody itself.

Meanwhile, though, she was thinking on what Caroline was saying about multiple Personas. Did that mean everyone here was like...

Rise visibly raised a hand, as if she was in class. And as if she ever voluntarily raised her hand in class. "Excuse me! If we can have multiple Personas, what does that mean if our regular Personas can't...well, fight? Could we also get a Persona that's more..."

She pantomimed an awkward mix of Chie kicking something and Yosuke trying to stab something at the same time, apparently shorthand for action.

The DJ looked up enough to raise a hand at Rise too, giving a thumbs up as his Helmet flashed her an answer.

Caroline; Open

When given the choice between a cute girl and some strange looking men, of course he's going to go for the cute girl.

Also she's by the booze, and part of him wants to see if he can get his hands on some of that because why not.

"So, are you the person to ask if we want to know more about this Persona stuff?"

Alternately, other characters can come talk to the 16 year old hanging around the bar.

Sorry if you ere not in the age, you only got non-alcohol drinks. They were pretty nice looking, mind you, even if sometimes the ice cubes were just rocks.

"All three of us would be happy to aid you in that regard," she explained with a smile.

To Igor

Nick flips through the book on the table, humming a bit. "Hmm... seems like there's more here than I remembered from last time. How do more personae show up here anyway?" he asks casually.

Igor simply laughed quietly like he always did.

"As the Destiny Strings grow more powerful, and the Guests entering the Velvet Room increase, so does the list of Personas. The possibilities are endless, in that regard."

In other words a hell of a lot.

Caroline; OPEN

What is this place?

Sam looks horribly out of place in such a lavish setting, what with the loose clothing, matted long brown hair, and general unkempt look, and he blinks nervously at his surroundings, trying to figure out what to do while the music plays around him.

Oh wait, that woman...she knew stuff about Personas, right? Time to go up to her, hands held almost apologetically in front of him as if she's going to turn around and punch him in the gut.

"Um...hello. You said something about Personas?"

And then afterwards, he'll be in some dark corner somewhere, staring at the rest of the people here with a dazed sort of look in his eyes- these kinds of places are definitely not ones he's used to.

If Caroline knew more about Sam's than she let on, she wasn't showing it, and simply pushed a drink up to him.

"What would you like to know about?"

For Caroline

Minako isn't here to change Personas, but she has a purpose in mind regardless. She heads across the room and takes a seat at the Velvet Bar. "Hi, Caroline-san! I brought what you requested."

She pushes a bag across the bar, which contains... her favorite fall and winter outfit. She's kind of hoping Caroline won't want to keep this. "I wasn't sure about it being 'armor,' but it was pretty warm for wearing inside Tartarus."

"If it protected you, the it is armor, is it not?" She spoke with the logic of someone who did not understand the outside world fully, which was probably evident when she took out only the top of her outfit.

"My, what warm clothing!" she exclaims, pushing the fabric to her cheek somewhat violently (but thankfully not tearing it).

"If I may...I read that 'Clothes make the Man', but it seems that they also Make the Woman as well...thank you for showing me a winter armor. If I may ask you one more request?" She put the outfit back into it's protective bad and then took something from under the bar; a small Jack Frost wallet. Turning it upside down, she shook it. Large wads of Yen comically fell out, until the total was close to Around 1000$">82,000.

"It would pain me to separate this outfit from you, as it contains so many memories...If you could please get me something instead? You may keep any additional money for yourself." She looked down. "Did I give her enough. Perhaps a little more..." Another shake about another 16,000 yen fell out. Minako had now had 100,000 yen neatly stacked right in front of her.

For William! But also pretty open.

With the potential of her own Persona still sleeping inside her, Cloche sees no need to take up the valuable time of the Master of the Velvet Room. She can instead be found standing in front of William's set-up, completely and utterly transfixed by the version of the Aria of the Souls that he is producing.

Each and every note, sound, and rhythm... they all blend seamlessly together to invoke a sense of--Cloche finds herself lacking with the words to properly describe the sense of calmness and serenity that the Aria effortlessly spreads throughout the room.

"This song..." When she speaks, Cloche's voice is unusually soft. "It- resonates within me." Cloche closes her eyes, so she can better concentrate on the song, and clasps her hands in front of her. She will stand and listen to the Aria in such a fashion for a long while, engraving its melody upon her heart.

Eventually, during one of (comparatively) slower parts of the song, Cloche will address William directly: "You are a talented musician, sir. Thank you for your efforts."

He responds by giving her an exaggerated bow, befitting a man of his showmanship, as his helmet glows a response. He lets the music continue and comes closer to her, before moving his hands closer to her face and then pulling out a card from behind her ear, and giving it to her.

This was fancy! It was like the Scumm Bar, if the Scumm Bar was run by people who knew what manners were, and didn't spit on the floor, and weren't completely drunk 24/7.

Okay, maybe it wasn't like the Scumm Bar at all.

Elaine meanders around enjoying the decor, gets herself a drink from the bar, and eventually makes her way over to that interesting-looking book. Don't look in the L section, Elaine.

Igor quietly opened the book in front of him with a wave of his hand. Your move Elaine.

OTA - PCs and NPCs alike

This is Nano's first time in the Velvet Room, since she was still getting used to the city and her Soul Persona the last time it appeared. As she materializes in the room, the music instantly startles her, causing her to jump in place a bit.

"Ah...!"

Of course, it's only a momentary fright. This place doesn't seem dangerous, and the residents look friendly enough. Still, Nano's a bit shy around new people and places, so for the moment she contents herself with glancing around curiously.

Don't worry. Caroline has a drink for her ready at the bar whenever she feels ready to come over.

Gale made his way to Catherine at the bar as soon as her greeting speech was over. "I need your help with this 'Persona'." She did say her work was to help.

Haha I tihnk you mean Caroline unless he's suddenly in the Aramid Room. XD

She gave him a smile and passed a drink along to him.

"It would be my honor to aid you in any way that I can."

Minato doesn't have any particular reason to be here, so far as changing personas goes. He's pretty content with the ones he has now, but he does have a request to fill, and so he shows up at the Velvet Bar with a bag of a few varieties of candy at Carolan's request. He has brought a few different packets of pop rocks (he wasn't sure what flavor she wanted) and a box of gushers, which were a candy-like snack that he happened across in the grocery store that advertised themselves as exploding in the mouth.

When she has a free moment, he wanders over and holds out the bag for her. "Here. I brought you the candy you requested."

"Oh my! There seems to be much more than what I requested..." She reached into the back and pulled out one of the blue raspberry flavored pop rock candies....staring at it.

"It appears there is no opening. Should I just be tearing it in half?"

CDs aren't exactly something Sasuke deals with often, but he could at least navigate his way around them. Thus, asking around the various shops for a certain CD didn't pose that much of a problem for him. Although... he does have to wonder about her choice in song...

Anyway, now he just needs to get the disc to Caroline herself. She looks busy talking with everyone else, but he's fine with waiting until she's a little less... popular.

Eventually the place does clear a little, and she waits for him to come closer...a drink already set on the table for him.

Well, this was kind of a nice surprise.

Even though Masamune was still confused as to how this even worked in the first place, the place seemed cool enough. Better than some of the clubs that Motochika tried dragging him and the others to, at least. The woman's statements about "Persona" helped him remember a little bit about that weird transition phase between being in his world and then being dragged here. Though her mentioning a contract had piqued his curiosity more than anything else.

"So it's kinda like a give-and-take, huh," he said, more to himself than anything. Help this world, and they'll help him be stronger. Not a terrible arrangement, thinking on it.

He ends up at the bar, leaning against the counter with a slightly bemused look on his face as he surveys the entirety of the Room.

Yeah. Not bad at all.

"In a way, yes." She pushed a drink towards him, although the percentage of alcohol was negligible. "Are you enjoying your time here?"

Wow, this is certainly not what she was expecting to be ushered into.
The whole experience reminded her of a witches barrier, just enough to put her on her guard but not far enough to make her transform in case she needed her powers. She wasn't particularly interested in getting any new personas from them; in fact, she wasn't even entirely trusting of this power they had already given her, and that mistrust only worsened when they brought up the word 'contract'. Forgive her, but she didn't trust anyone handing out 'contracts', especially one that she barely even remembered making (and if she had been of her right mind, she would have never agreed to it). She'd learned her lesson about contracts, thank you, and she had the soul gem to prove it.
Anyways, she was more interested in information at this point. She was still quite shaken up after her untimely arrival, and couldn't say she was adjusting very easily. Homura would need some very serious coaxing to ever willingly summon her persona, that's for sure.

"Huh..."

Atsuro hesitates at the door with a notebook under an arm before he makes his way into the Velvet... Techno Dance Floor. It seemed there was a new resident here, but no matter how helpful they had been in the past, he doubted they would be willing to answer any of the questions he had on his mind.

Still. Might as well try.

He enters the room proper and pauses at the side as he tries to formulate his thoughts.

Santa grabbed Atsuro by the shoulder the second he saw that stupid hat passing by. The notebook was the second thing he noticed, but it wasn't what he wanted to talk about. No, for now he would put most of his effort into spinning Atsuro around so that they were standing face to face.

"What's up, pal?" That's all he really wanted, totally. Just casual conversation "The big day is getting closer, right?"
