Where: Starting in Pisces and moving around the city!
Summary: Minako drags Minato out of bed to explore! And hopefully they'll run into more people on the way...

Earlier...

Oh, how wonderful it was to finally have been allowed to go to their apartments and get some sleep! If he were awake, Minato would have barely remembered staggering through the door and collapsing on his bed. Or futon. Whatever it was. It didn't really matter to him presently, as he was sound asleep, still in his (singed and smokey) school uniform. At least he'd remembered to remove his shoes, though he did seem to have forgotten to lock his door.



Later...

With the sleepyhead up, washed, in clean clothes and out the door, it was time for the two of them to explore! Apartments were all well and good, but there was so much more to the city than mere residential districts. So of course that meant it was time to find the subway station, hop on a tube and go exploring!

Besides, knowing where things were was the first step in finding a good place to get a job, get food to eat, engage in various activities to raise one's social stats, etc...

Kanaya looked up to find one of the other people on the car, a human, standing over her. For a moment her eyes flick to the blue-haired boy she was chatting with when they entered, but he seemed to have fallen asleep... and yes, she was pretty much lost in this confusing new environment. So she gave the girl what she hoped was a grateful smile and nodded, smoothing out the map so that they both could see.

"Yes; I admit that I am unaccustomed to the means by which this city seems to handle public transportation. If you wouldn't mind, I would be very grateful for your help."

She takes one corner of the map and indicates with her other hand. "Each colored line represents a subway route. We're on the purple line right now." She points to the purple loop at the center of the map. "If you wanted to go out here..." She points waaay out at the end of the yellow line, "You'd have to travel to the station where the purple and yellow lines cross and then board a yellow line train instead. Also, you want to check and make sure the train is going the direction you want to go... The signs should tell you which stop each train is heading towards next."

She's ridden many subways and monorails in her time, so this kind of thing is second nature to her by now.

"Oh, I understand," she said, nodding along. It seemed like a very inconvenient and circuitous way to go, but looking out the window, she could understand the convenience. They were going fast and far. It would probably take a day to walk all that way on foot. And since no one had monorails in the middle of the desert, she was pretty accustomed to taking the long way home anyway. "And to cross over to the 'yellow line', I would need to get off at..." She squinted at the page. "...'Aquila Station'?"

"Yes, that's right. It's simple once you get the hang of it." Provided it's not the middle of rush hour, anyway. "Is that really the way you're going?"

Kanaya shook her head. "No, it was merely for the sake of example." There was a small pause as she debated whether she should continue, and eventually seemed to decide that she should. "To tell you the truth, I did not have a particular destination in mind for today's excursion, and merely wanted to get out a little bit to grow more acquainted with the other areas of Hinoto-Ri. Since I don't think anyone knows how long we will be living here, it seemed prudent at the time to become familiar with the surroundings."

"Then you are one of the newcomers, too... It's nice to meet you."

She offers a hand. "My name's Minako Arisato... my brother and I are doing the same thing today."

"My name is Kanaya Maryam. It is a pleasure to meet you too." She took the hand and shook it; for the first time ever, as she had noted on the first night she was in this town, at the party. "Your 'brother'... is that him, asleep on the other side of the area?" She didn't really know what a brother was, to be honest. It was a guess. But he was the only one who Minako had brought in with her on the train, so he had to be of some importance to her, right?

"That's right... I don't think he was too happy with me waking him up this morning." Although she's beginning to wonder how much of this near-narcolepsy is from exhaustion, and how much is just his natural state of being. "His name's Minato."

"Your names match? That is very nice." She didn't sound insincere at all. Her eyes lingered on him for a second, committing his appearance to memory, before moving back to Minako. "Well, I have a proposition for us. Since neither seems to be moving on a particular track, would you mind terribly if I joined Minato and you for a while?" If she wanted to be successful in this city, after all, it simply would not do to just keep dwelling on her old friends forever. There had to be some new blood.

"Well, we are twins..." Minako that is completely not obvious from looking at you two. "And, of course! I'm sure he won't mind at all either."

/sliiiiides in discretely. this is discrete, right?

It is as if he feels the eyes on him even in his sleep, for he stirs a bit. But what really wakes him up is the jerk of the train putting its breaks on in preparation for an upcoming stop. Blinking dazedly, he sits up, peering around. The first thing he notices is that his sister isn't sitting next to him anymore, but his worry is quickly assuaged as he sees her talking with someone else - and that someone else catches his attention all the more.

Grey skin and orange horns? He wonders if she's one of the nicer demons or if she's another person drawn from their world to here. But either way, he's not sure it'd be polite to interrupt their conversation, so he just waits, rubbing his eyes a bit in an attempt to help wake himself up. He has got to stop falling asleep everywhere! Someday he hopes to have energy again...

Note to self: when back home, look up words 'brother' and 'twins'. In the meantime, Kanaya merely nodded along. A second later, Minato started waking up again. "...It seems that you will have the opportunity to ask him yourself," she pointed out.

She'd be happy to explain if she asked... but Minako unfortunately is still under the assumption that aliens understand human family units.

At Kanaya's words, she turns and sees the sleeper actually showing signs of life. "Oh... good, you woke up! Minato, this is Kanaya... she's also exploring the city and I thought we could all go together."

Stifling a yawn as he makes himself sit up a little straighter, Minato nods to Kanaya. "Ah -- pleased to meet you." He pauses a moment, processing what his sister just said, and then he nods again with a faint smile. "Sounds fun."

"It is a pleasure to meet you, too." She held up a hand in greeting, since Minako had already gone to the trouble of introducing her. "Thank you for letting me travel along with you. If I may ask, which housing district are you in?"

"I'm in Libra, but he's in Pisces..." That obviously already makes some things difficult. "It would have been nice if we could pick, but we'll manage somehow."

Minato nodded in return to the hand lift and put his own hands back into his pockets. "Where are you living?"

"I currently reside in Libra 5-03," she said, having already committed the room to memory after a couple of days. "That would put me in closer proximity to Minako, of course."

"Just a little ways away... but I'm sure he'll be over often enough."

She glances at Minato as she says this. He will come over sometimes, right?

He nods, shooting her a look that says 'why do you doubt me?'

Kanaya smiles at their little exchange. "If you don't mind, I believe I will come to visit you on occasion as well."

"That'd be great!"

Now was probably the time to get to know their new acquaintance better. "What kinds of hobbies do you have, Kanaya-chan?"

"I don't mind."

He likes visitors. Unless he's asleep. Then he doesn't like them as much, but he's not going to say that. Kanaya just might... have to knock a little loudly on his door. But he's otherwise quiet, listening while his sister does most of the getting-to-know-you questioning.

"Hobbies?" Kanaya had quite a lot of those. "Well, I'm fond of designing and creating clothing, primarily. Another of my favored activities is gardening. And I am quite fond of books." She stopped herself there, predicting a rant coming on; she remembered Lizzie's response to her rambling, and it wouldn't do to have two people staring at her uncomprehendingly.

"I've never done much gardening myself..." Aside from watering the flowers when Theo asked. "But I was in a 'Fashion Club' at school. Well, it was just me and one other student, but we had fun designing and making things."
