The Search for the Newcomers, December 2012 Edition.

Who: Open to Everyone, but only Newly Accepted Characters can start threads.
Where: All around the city! They appear where you want them to appear.
Summary: Newcomers arrive and by now the Government is more ready and sends everyone out to go people hunting.
Warnings: ARRIVALS. Also assume the first thread is the ones who tell you about the city, and the other tags for the character can be talking with others in the city and learning more about it.

[FOR THOSE IN THE CITY:]
They were getting much better at this, it was for certain.

Last month's initial testing of the HORUS system had worked really well. The device which allowed everyone to spot abnormalities; and now even more refined, they could hone in on newcomers at a much faster pace. The leftover energy from the travel (commonly called Magatama Residue) gave them a few minutes to find them before it would flicker out.

Combined with the fact they could appear in most parts of the city, it made finding the newcomers was both easy yet frustratingly difficult.

As the blips appear on your own radar function, it was also nice enough to calculate for you the best transport and destination routes to take to get there. Speed was of the essence, after all.

[FOR THOSE WHO JUST ARRIVED:]
You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[OOC: As stated above, only new characters can start a thread, but feel free to jump in any of them. characters arrive with their clothing and whatever items they had on them the moment they were taken; the remaining items will be later found in their apartments.]

It is rather bright, isn't it? But, she's still fond of the pajama-robes, despite their fluorescence.

Rose blinks back, one hand fishing in a near invisible pocket of her robes for her knitting needles. She wasn't even certain if they were still wands here, but it was better to be safe than dead--considering she was also uncertain of her continuing immortality.

"Greetings," Her tone is cordial.

"Hi."

The reason for his dazed voice isn't the bright pajama-robes. It's the knitting needles. It's a dumb thing, something he shouldn't let get to him considering she wasn't the only one in his world who knitted, but it's something that can't be helped. Dumb things tend to get to you when you miss someone important.

Rose tucks the needles back into her pocket almost as soon as they were drawn. In her experience, people interest in pickpocketing, mugging, or murder didn't often exchange pleasantries. She tilts her head slightly, one eyebrow cocked as she offers her hand to Link, "I don't suppose you would be the welcoming committee? New to the job, are we?"

Link blinks in an expression of not understanding--a state of being one assumes he's often in. As if someone had flicked a switch, however, he comes to clarity. "No," he replies. "But...has anyone come to greet you?"

He knows about the Newbie GPS in the COMP system, but save for one exception, he's been ignoring it.

"Come to greet me? You mean there is an actual welcoming committee? How quaint," Rose laughs merrily, "I am touched that whatever dark powers in charge of this little dream bubble of a universe would care so much for their peons."

"..."

Lady, you're using big words. Not like it's confusing him, but...

"I don't think the people in charge of here are dark..."

"Ah, but how can you be certain? Have you met them?"

Rose grins, continuing to window shop, "After all, they are stealing us away from our own universes to complete some sort of task, I assume. That is most often the case with these sorts of things."

SBURB really has jaded her.

"But they treat us nice, and they don't make us do anything we don't want to do. Besides stay here, but...at least they give us someplace to stay."

[complexdisorder]

"Ah, yes. So long as our jailers provide us with a gilded cage, we should forgive them for installing a lock on it?" She looks over her shoulder with a slight grin.

"I don't think it's like that."

[ ooc: sorry for the delay. 'twas the season. ]

"I can tell," It's deadpan and slightly sardonic. She sighs, crossing her arms over her chest, "You have much more faith in others, especially those in power, than I do."

OOC: Don't worry! Happy holidays!

"I don't have any reason to distrust them. Especially since there are people out there who are trying to hurt other people."

"Then why would they bring us here? If not for nefarious purposes?"

"Because they need our help to save the world. Most of the world is destroyed outside of this city."

[complexdisorder]

"Ah," Rose muses, turning over a small white ball in her hands that she pulled from her pocket.

"I see. So I'm assuming we cannot leave the city limits."

"I don't think anyone has tried," he says, giving the white ball a curious look. "But I guess not."

Rose rolls the ball between her hands, shaking it and whispering something. She sighs.

"So no one knows a real way to return home?"

[sky_child]

"There's a way, I think...but you'll always wind up right back here."

[complexdisorder]

"I had thought as much. Is there at least housing? It really is the least they can do."

[sky_child]

"In the Pisces and Libra wards," he says with a nod. "It should say where you live in your card."

He digs in his pocket, extracting his wallet, and extracting from that his Extraterritorial Guest Card.

"See, right here, where it says Pisces 5-07? That's where I live."

"A card?" Rose blinks, digging through her pockets until she fishes out a small card. She flips it over, reading the back and front before nodding. "Pisces 5-11. I suppose it is the least our captors can do. Make us comfortable, at least."

"So you're on the floor above mine, then. I can show you where it is, if you want."

"Oh... that would be very kind of you, but I am sure that I can navigate the city by myself," Rose shrugs, "I am certain it is far less dangerous than the world I came from."
