The Search for the Newcomers, December 2012 Edition.
Who: Open to Everyone, but only Newly Accepted Characters can start threads.
Where: All around the city! They appear where you want them to appear.
Summary: Newcomers arrive and by now the Government is more ready and sends everyone out to go people hunting.
Warnings: ARRIVALS. Also assume the first thread is the ones who tell you about the city, and the other tags for the character can be talking with others in the city and learning more about it.
[FOR THOSE IN THE CITY:]
They were getting much better at this, it was for certain.
Last month's initial testing of the HORUS system had worked really well. The device which allowed everyone to spot abnormalities; and now even more refined, they could hone in on newcomers at a much faster pace. The leftover energy from the travel (commonly called Magatama Residue) gave them a few minutes to find them before it would flicker out.
Combined with the fact they could appear in most parts of the city, it made finding the newcomers was both easy yet frustratingly difficult.
As the blips appear on your own radar function, it was also nice enough to calculate for you the best transport and destination routes to take to get there. Speed was of the essence, after all.
[FOR THOSE WHO JUST ARRIVED:]
You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said.
There is one word that stays with you, however.
Persona.
So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...
[OOC: As stated above, only new characters can start a thread, but feel free to jump in any of them. characters arrive with their clothing and whatever items they had on them the moment they were taken; the remaining items will be later found in their apartments.]

"Big Sis? Big Sis!"
She'd present the perfect image of a lost little girl, scared and alone - except for the fact that she is pretty obviously a demon of some kind. There's a bulky mass comprised mostly of tentacles and slit-pupiled golden eyes attached to her back, tiny red horns peeking out from under her purple bangs, and her clothing seems to be made of chitin and is an actual part of her body, judging from the way the eyes on it are moving around.
Said eyes (and the slightly more human-looking red eyes on her actual face) are starting to water slightly at the edges as she begins to give into panic.
If you move quickly, maybe you'll be able to head off the incipient tantrum!
no subject
Another small girl is nearby, guarding her currently immobile form of transportation, and hears the panicked calls.
"Hey! What's wrong?"

This just wasn't Revan's day.
She groaned, briefly contemplated going right back into unconsciousness, and hauled herself upright. If this wasn't some kind of fatigued fever dream, she needed to get to the bottom of this.
That is, if anyone was going to be forthcoming with someone in scuffed brown robes, a rifle slung over her back and a lightsaber hilt on her belt, climbing out of a pile of cardboard boxes.
No rest for the wicked...
no subject
It was, nonetheless, unmistakeable, the psychic equivalent of a comet crashing into the city, even if she was the only one who could feel it so strongly. Meetra didn't know (or really care) how they'd ended up in the same place, but she wasn't going to fail in her self-appointed mission to find her now that she was this close.
Meetra threw on her own robe...and her lightsaber. She was rushing ahead without thinking of what she would do, first, and she knew that was a mistake, but she kept her mind focused on her immediate goal. That was calming enough.
After the initial shock, the Exile did need to use HORUS to pinpoint the new arrival in the loud background "noise" of Hinoto-Ri's human and demon population, but she still managed to arrive at the dingy alley where the Republic's savior and destroyer had found herself after only a few minutes...
Wow. Revan had clearly had better days.

Nik was always good at blending into the scenery. Being plain-looking man of average height and weight helps, as well as a lot of practice going unnoticed, for now he will stalk the streets and get a feeling of where is he and what's going on. This all seems like a dream. Better to stay on the defensive for a bit while he gets himself sorted out.
Later in the day, you might come across him sitting on a public bench, a man in a nice suit having a cigarette and looking damn confused. Nik's given up on the blending-in part, and doesn't care if he looks like a newbie tourist. You'll probably find him poking at his nifty new watch and muttering to himself in Russian.

It's safe to say that she is thoroughly confused. And also she's impossibly hot -- she pulls down the green hood she's wearing and decides it's probably best to just sit down right where she is and wait for someone to appear and tell her what to do. Getting lost in a strange realm with no teammates sounded like an awful way to spend the time.

He eventually makes his way over to the spot, looking around, and...there we go. He approaches carefully, narrowed eyes looking her over through his matted brown hair. What an interesting outfit...what did that symbol mean?

No bubble. So this wasn't Vatheon, but it wasn't Shinjuku either. He reached into his pocket and clutched his amulet, and checked to make sure his sword was within reach.
He could tell there were demons around - a few of them were staring at him, too. He could ask them where he was... or he could figure it out himself. He headed towards a tall building and started climbing the fire escape, heading up to the roof.
no subject
The vampire spied a building that looked like it would offer him a decent view of the place and flew to the roof, setting Minea down as he landed. He looked out at the city and frowned, a bit of sadness coming over him...this wasn't his bubble. But..there was nothing much he could do about it, he'd have to move on.
Just as he was going to turn and leave, the wind shifted and a painfully familiar smell blew toward him, causing the vampire to whip around, eyes searching the roof. It was so close. There, on the other side of the roof, was a man. The sight of his silhouette was just as painful as the smell and it caused Johnny to walk closer.
"...Otoha?" His heart rate had picked up and the keys to his friend's bar suddenly felt heavy in his pocket...he didn't want to hope, but it seemed it was too late for that.

Of course, that is easier thought than done in the depths of the Cancer District, where one young woman with long, pointed ears can't help but jump a bit at each whirring gizmo and gadget she passes by. Being from a world perpetually stuck in a medieval-like stasis, the oddities of this ward are beyond her imagination, and it's disorienting at best.
Think, Zelda. Stay focused.
Right. She needs to find that butterfly man she saw in her dream. She doesn't know exactly why, but it feels like he would know how she can return to Hyrule, and get away from... whatever this place is. What was his name... Augh, it's hard to think through all this noise--
Wait.
Suddenly, the woman stops in her tracks, pulling out a small, blue flute-like instrument and beginning to play a series of melodies, one after the other. She gets a few odd looks from some passing natives (shouldn't she be in Scorpio?), but she pays them no heed, putting everything she has into playing. Maybe you might be able to hear it over the din of the crowd...
no subject
Wait. Hang on. It's not coming from nowhere. Someone's playing them, and on a ocarina, even! Pit searches the crowd for his nerdy soulmate, eager to meet another Nintendo fanatic, when he spots--
Is that--
It is!
Except...except she's probably like the Link from Ocarina of Time and wouldn't know what he's talking about if he mentioned Melee. Given that she's outside in the could dressed in full royal regalia, playing an ocarina for seemingly no reason, she must be new. Which means Pit must be brave, suppress his fanboy glee, and do his civic duty as a guest of Hinoto-ri to introduce the Princess of Hyrule to the city!
...a few moments later, a teenage angel boy is tugging at her sleeves.
"Um um um um..."

At first it's the only thing Garra takes in as he stands motionless in one of Aquarius' many streets. Blank-faced, a little spacey... But then again that's Garra on a good day anyway when he's not paying attention to the outside world. His host's body feels ill, like it wants to vomit. But he knows from practice that it can't so he ignores the sensation for the moment.
Warmth, sun, noise.
With a slight blink Garra's eyes come into focus. He still spends several more seconds staring blankly ahead before bothering to lift a hand and look down at it. Still in the same Host...but the setting is different. Or is it the same? He isn't sure, he wasn't paying attention. It must be some sort of task or mission though, Garra decides, though what that might be is...also a train of thought that dies as he starts staring straight up, one hand held up to shield his eyes from the sun.
Then he just keeps staring...and staring...
Braining, hard at work.
no subject
Don't look now, Garra, but there's a mess of a guy standing in front of you, bent over slightly in clothes that are a bit too big for his body, squinted eyes blinking behind messy long brown hair. He doesn't at all look like much- Sam looks like the guy made for living in a dark corner of an alley than a nice room.
He waves a hand, trying to get his attention. "Hello? Staring at the sun isn't good for your eyes, you know..."

"At least they have a red light district here. Bound to be some fun to have." Besides, he'd probably need money here, he could always go back to his old ways.
The vampire wandered a bit more before deciding a roof-side view was probably best and flew up to the top of a building, standing on the edge to get a better view. This was vastly different than what he'd become accustomed to...and yet, it reminded him of L.A. in a way.
"Mmm....time for a clean slate~ And...maybe we'll see some of the others again. Hopefully." He looked up at the night sky, vaguely realizing that no bubble meant no more sun for him...oh well.

The police are hot on her tail in their cruisers as a strange looking go kart zooms through the Virgo district, leaving exhaust that smells like somebody just baked cookies. It hooks a sharp left, and then another just before the cops mimic the turn, effectively pulling her out of their sight.
Too bad she picked an alley with a dead end.
"Whoooooooa!" CRASH! Vanellope slams on the brakes, but runs into a stack of garbage cans, boxes, and trash, which fall on top of her and her car. Effectively camouflaged, the cops drive right by. But now she has to dig her racer out from under the mess.
"Yech, this smells worse than the sewers in that mutant reptile game..."
A minor setback. She doesn't seem at all worried or concerned that she's been displaced.

A dream she didn't understand though... that was particularly notable. It didn't tend to happen when Dream was your little brother.
Staying here wasn't going to get her any closer to an answer though. So she started moving to the city, intent on getting to know its inhabitants.
And so she greets them with a smile. "Hello."

So, then, Io set out to determine where this was... It was a city, so there had to be people around, especially considering all these electronics stores around.
As if on instinct, she flipped open her phone. No bars.
It was time for a little exploration.
no subject
However as he walked through the Cancer Ward (he had some free time and decided to look at the interesting electronics for anything useful...), the HORUS system chirped that a newcomer had arrived relatively close by. Hrm...
As he would meet the newcomer anyway, he gave into curiosity - and what a stroke of luck. It was Miss Nitta. He was rather neutral towards her, finding her the least aggravating amongst their group before everything fell apart, so there was no hesitation in his approach.
"Nitta," he called, walking over to her with long strides, "It was only a matter of time before you came here."

That is the only thing Kanaya feels at the moment as she moves through and inspects the Libra district. So many humans. She thought the human world was destroyed? So many humans and not a troll to be seen so far. Being the only gray-skinned, fanged, horned alien in what appears to be a human world is well more than a bit intimidating.
On the one hand, her high STEALTH ATTRIBUTE should make going unnoticed by strangers easy enough, but on the other the DISTRACTIONS and also growing INDIFFERENCE TO THIS SHIT would inhibit actual use of her vampiric stealth.
Of course, all this internal anxiety about being in a new world, surrounded by aliens, and whether or not to be noticed is not apparent as she manages to keep up a guise of confidence and indifference.
(even though it is totally, 100% fake. fakity fake fake.)
Oh well, worse comes to worse, she does have her weapon on hand, conveniently unnoticeable to anyone as it is currently in the form of lipstick in her right hand. ]

Though, she does wish the throbbing behind her temples would dissipate, but that's what you get for not listening to a very clear warning about stairs, "bro." She pauses to get her bearings near the center of the market place, one eyebrow arching delicately as she surveys the bustling crowd. So many people, humans, it was almost disconcerting after three years of being a quarter of the remaining human population.

The sweet scent of fried, sugary sweet potatoes were wafting from a vendor from across the street, and it took all her willpower not to plow across and stuff her face. Sadly, there was one thing between her and her goal: money. Oh, and that whole 'I have no idea where I am' thing nagging at the back of her mind. But that wasn't exactly a new sensation for her, and as far as Kairi figured, she must've collapsed in the Reaver fight and woken up in time for an F3 trip. It was new to actually see people around that weren't other test subjects, but maybe Val had decided to try out something new? The deactivated state of her collar only further proved her hypothesis in her mind, not to mention they were pretty over-due for one by this point. But she couldn't find her faciliberry on her anywhere...
Gah. Maybe she ought to go looking for her friends rather than sit here salivating over some sweets. Kairi could sense Naminé elsewhere in the town, so she might as well go find her if she couldn't just send her a message. She could deal with her stomach grumbles later...]

The moment Yukko wakes up, her mind is all over what she had just seen. It just invades her head. There are things she has to do too! She can't go along forgetting that, right? Phileman - mon? - That guy told her that she has to do something!
'Maybe I could go ask someone?' she thinks to herself. However, Yukko has woken up in the middle of the Cancer district. More specifically, the extremely futuristic strip mall where everything looks really cool. Any immediate quest can be put on hold, can't they?
Anyone out tracking the newcomers down will find this girl especially troublesome to find. After her immediate feelings of sadness and guilt fade away, she starts rushing around, gaping at everything. Like a kid in a candy store.
And by everything, she does everything. She walks into a store just as something explodes. She runs into the arcade and realizes that she's flat broke. She goes over to a vendor and start pushing buttons. And another vendor. And another.
She tuckers herself out eventually though, and she props herself up against a nearby wall, panting loudly. Then she stops. And blinks.
"... wait. Where the hell am I again?"
Well. There was this weird guy and he was telling her stuff and he was really confusing and... Yukko just. Pushes off the wall and looks around before blindly walking back into the crowds.

We're having a special on strawberry cake today...
[Of course, she still looks pretty embarrassed. She'd asked about wearing a longer dress, but apparently the uniform guidelines at this job are pretty strict. So here's Nano out on the sidewalk, awkwardly shuffling back and forth on her feet while handing out flyers and coupons. She doesn't notice Yukko yet.]

But he was awake now, and very much alive. He stared at his hands a moment, not able to believe any of this was real. It seemed it was though, and he needed to figure out where what was going on. He seemed to be in an alleyway though, which wasn't very helpful.
At least it was during the day. He left the alley and found himself in a courtyard in a busy shopping district. It was overwhelming, finding himself in a place this bright and loud and full of people after being trapped for over a year.
But the best thing was the sunlight. He simply stood there for now, enjoying the light and the wind, not caring about how many strange looks he was getting from the people around him.
Might as well! :3
So here was this odd, rather androgynous angel-drow-bird-thing, whatever he was, with a cloth shopping bag hanging from his wrist, with apparently very little in it yet. He paused now and then to look into the windows of shops as he passed them, walking down the sidewalk--
--and then, not paying attention to where he was going, bumped right into the man.
"Oh!" He stepped back, eyes wide, wings lifting up a few inches in alarm. It wasn't that he'd been going fast, but all the same, he hadn't been looking, and--!
"Sorry! I-- I um." He blushed faintly, cheeks tinting a little more purple-ish than pink as he took another half step back, all sorts of sheepish here now. "....sorry...."
Yes! :3

Blue skin, golden-yellow eyes, long elf-like ears, birdish wings... what was this strange person?
Well, confused and a bit shocked, obviously, if that expression was any indication as they watched people walk past. They weren't trying to grab anyone's attention just yet, simply looking around as though they couldn't quite believe what they were seeing.
Anyone want to approach the newbie?
((So! feel free to mistake this guy for...
A) a demon of some kind
B) a lady
C) both of the above
D) neither
Actually, he'd arguably fit A, with SMT's use of the term... but shh. :3a Also, if anyone wants to backdate this a couple days I'm totally good with that.))

The point is, this was pretty damn weird. Then again, compared to back home...and what that Philemon guy had said - okay, this was better. She guessed.
... Thankfully for anyone checking their radar, she's staying in one place. Mostly. Even if she does wander around a bit to try and get her bearings, she returns to the place she started - if only to not get lost.]

[The young woman makes him raise an eyebrow, but he approaches her all the same.]
You're new here, aren't you?

He shook his head, he should probably handle this situation like a...normal person, not as a member of a shady organization. He needs to find his bearings and figure out just exactly what is going on.

Though blue hair still isn't all that common, nor is that coat; something she knew well from where she had been before. Of course, she'd been warned, but... she could take care of herself. He didn't seem hostile currently, either.
"...Did you just arrive?"

But at the same time... this place feels far too real to be anything like that. Hmmm.
At any rate, she's wary as she walks the streets, but for now she's definitely prioritizing shelter from the cold. During this search, she might even walk up to your character!
"Excuse me, I know this may sound strange, but... I just found myself in the street, with no memory of how I got here. Do you know if there is a place where I can get out of the cold while I try to sort this out?"
no subject
"Hm?"
After listening, he replied, "You came to the right guy. I'm actually with the police here. I can take you to the apartments, or if you're hungry, somewhere to get food."
