destinystrings | The Search for the Newcomers, December 2012 Edition.

Who: Open to Everyone, but only Newly Accepted Characters can start threads.
Where: All around the city! They appear where you want them to appear.
Summary: Newcomers arrive and by now the Government is more ready and sends everyone out to go people hunting.
Warnings: ARRIVALS. Also assume the first thread is the ones who tell you about the city, and the other tags for the character can be talking with others in the city and learning more about it.

[FOR THOSE IN THE CITY:]
They were getting much better at this, it was for certain.

Last month's initial testing of the HORUS system had worked really well. The device which allowed everyone to spot abnormalities; and now even more refined, they could hone in on newcomers at a much faster pace. The leftover energy from the travel (commonly called Magatama Residue) gave them a few minutes to find them before it would flicker out.

Combined with the fact they could appear in most parts of the city, it made finding the newcomers was both easy yet frustratingly difficult.

As the blips appear on your own radar function, it was also nice enough to calculate for you the best transport and destination routes to take to get there. Speed was of the essence, after all.

[FOR THOSE WHO JUST ARRIVED:]
You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[OOC: As stated above, only new characters can start a thread, but feel free to jump in any of them. characters arrive with their clothing and whatever items they had on them the moment they were taken; the remaining items will be later found in their apartments.]

"I'm guessing there isn't a big meeting every so many centuries where people argue about putting away the chairs when its all done."

"No, before things got... interesting." That seemed like the word, at any rate. "I had always thought it was just me."

"That sounds kind of lonely."

"Not really. I always had my family, and I get to meet all sorts of interesting people." She actually really likes the job.

"I see, families do seem to help most people."

She shrugs noncommittally and lets out a slight breath.

"It's a good support system to have." Sure, she hadn't seen them in a couple years, but really, that often happened. They were still family.

"I wouldn't know. Still what works for you is probably rather effective given how you sound quite sane."

She laughs a bit at that. "I've just had a long time to get used to things." SHe was probably the sanest out of her family. But that wasn't very nice to say.

"I see. I would gather you've had more time than just about everyone else."

"Ten billion years." A pause. Is that even right? It might be off by a few million... a billion maybe? It was hard to keep track when you predated calendars. "Ish."

"I'd imagine a few blended into other ones by that tone."

"Well. To be fair. A decent number of those years were before Earth, much less its calendar." That was her story and she was sticking to it.

"Then is the human form a new one, or was there another race that appeared similar to humanity?"

She gestures vaguely at herself. "This is mostly how I choose to appear, with some influence from whoever is looking at me. I tend to look like the species of the viewer."

"That makes sense, it also probably makes things a bit easier."

She nods. "Dying is scar enough without being faced with someone completely alien looking."

Ruri nods a little.

"And I'm guessing the stories about challenging Death to a game of twister are a compete fabrication so after that realization it could be bad all in all to deal with someone completely alien."

"I don't make deals." She's serious for a moment, but quickly brightens. "Besides, playing Twister against someone who is omnipresent doesn't really work."

She nods a bit and her vocal tone drops a bit.

"No, I wouldn't suppose you do. Though it'd be a good gauge of twister skill I guess."

"It might be entertaining, now and then." Death liked parties just as much as the next person, after all. "BUt not terribly fair."

"Fair has never seemed to be logical in life and death."

"It... is and it isn't." A lot of it was point of view, unfortunately. "Everyone gets a lifetime."

"Its just the definition of a lifetime leaves some room for interpretation."

"Yes. And most everyone thinks it was too short. Though who can blame them? Life is amazing."

"I simply gave up trying. When there were no aspects of greater powers it was significantly easier to not care though."
