WINE PARTY EVENT

Who: EVERYONE IN HINOTO-RI
Where: The Square in Scorpio Ward
When: Begins 00:00 New Years!
Summary: Anant and his Persona Dionysus throw a wine party! Mingle, have fun, and watch out for the drinks, some of them are spiked...
Warnings: Alcohol, so expect some silliness in this log. All of the silliness.

It began entirely by accident, really.

Anant had learned that one celebrated the turning of the New Year - a novel experience, really! A world that didn't stand still, that had the cycle of night and day, and the turning of the seasons; the thought of beginning time anew was something beautiful and magnificent to the deluded god. No wonder humans would celebrate such an event!

Dionysus had suggested that perhaps wine would be the best thing to toast the New Year with - and, of course, it would be best to celebrate it where the moon was high in the sky and the stars in view. Atmosphere was just as important! Their quest took them to the square in the Scorpio Ward, nicely fixed up from a past event (something about scorpions, they didn't pry). Anant, of course, brought their own table.

Dionysus supplied the wine, Anant pushed it upon those who were passing by at the time, and soon a crowd began to gather. It started small, but Anant's bubbly personality, delicious wine, and the lighthearted atmosphere drew more and more Hinoto-Ri natives to the scene, and eventually, some of the new arrivals. By the time the clock struck midnight, on the New Years, a large impromptu party had taken over the square!

The free alcohol was possibly the cause of it, but so long as everyone was happy and having fun, why should Anant object to such a thing! To observe such a large congregation of people together - it was magical! Fantastical!

Devious.

It was just past half past twelve in the morning when the 'effect's began appearing. But what did one expect, accepting alcohol from the God of Lunacy? With the moon so high on the sky, washing down on the people below, on such a jovial occasion, how couldn't Dionysus splash a bit of mischief in there?

So have fun, my fellow inhabitants. This night will surely be memorable...

[OOC: Sorry for the tl;dr! Alrighty, so everyone can mingle and do as they please in the comments! You do not have to know Anant to log in - you don't even have to interact with them! Just do your own thing and have fun!

HAPPY NEW YEARS!]

Kais ended up arriving at the party just because. No real reason other than he may have wanted to be here. Watching humans do human things or just making sure there was no danger spawning from this gathering. Seditious thoughts about wiping out all aliens was actually one of the worries on Kais' mind.

The problem here was that he was small. Shorter than most people around, standing in at a whopping 5'5''. So despite his blue skin, he didn't exactly stand out, especially in a crowd.

But breaking away from the crowd, he took a seat by Avitus, knowing it was a slightly familiar face that wasn't human. Kais, however, did keep his mouth shut.

Avitus did too, at least for the moment. He added a few last lines to the sketch he'd been doing, and flipped the page, finding --

Hey, this page was loose. It was folded in half, the crease to be sewn into the binding like the others, except it'd somehow managed to be slightly mis-aligned, and the string had missed it. So it would take almost nothing to remove it with very little damage, if he wanted...

"...."

He glanced beside him, to the smaller alien, and down to the page. He leaned a little forward and to the side, for a slightly different angle, one a touch closer to Kais's eye level and a better vantage point for seeing him a little more from the side than behind. Sometimes, three or four inches made all the difference in perspective. He adjusted how he held the bench's back in his long feet, toes renewing their purchase across the seat, through the boots he had on. If Kais looked over, he probably simply looked as though he were hunched over a touch from the cold, despite his warm clothing and the giant, feathered wings he held around himself. At least he didn't look uncomfortable there, smiling faintly, drawing quickly.

Sketch, sketch sketch....

He'd be quiet for a couple minutes, making quick little strokes, just the lightest of sounds, across the paper with the pencil's lead. He paused a little every once in a while to rub something else onto the page, a small roll of paper, smudging his shading into a smoother look, and then resumed, glancing back up at Kais, and back down to the drawing he was doing, back and forth, as he worked.

He'd probably be at it a good five, maybe ten minutes, if Kais didn't break the friendly quiet between them first.

Whatever was going on was weird. But he wasn't one to interrupt either. He was used to standing at attention for hours at a time, all that training drilled into him to be a professional at his duty helping with his patience. If Avitus wanted to seem a little weird, Kais wasn't one to judge.

Of course, he had to keep the thought running through his head that was put through all Tau brains. One that said that other races were just different and should not be disliked or hated for what they were or what they did.

Still, he couldn't help but wonder.

He wouldn't have to keep wondering what the little burd was up to for much longer, at least -- Avitus had soon just about finished what he'd been working on.

Quiet, "La Kais, was it?" Rub, rub, sketch, rub...

"Yes, that would be what I'm called."

If ever asked, he'd go into what it meant since it was a cultural specific naming system. But Avitus got it right, at the least.

He took the page of the sketchbook and carefully popped it free from the one string that had managed to catch it in the binding, just barely. It was a minor tear, barely anything at all, in the middle of the sheet, along the fold. He fingered the tiny spot, before deciding it probably didn't count against the page enough to matter, and held it in front of him, where the other could see, if he wanted to turn to look.

"I..." Well, it wasn't much of a present. It was a drawing of him, somewhat from behind, watching the ill-defined people in the background, which was soft and blurry from being done by careful smudging rather than left with any lines to speak of. It wasn't bad, by any means, but it didn't feel... well, he couldn't put a word to it, but it was giving him doubts already as to whether the other would like it, or want it. He just didn't know. And there wasn't a reason for it in the first place. And--

The paper made a small sound as he tried to hold it a little straighter, biting his lip.

"You...?"

Kais looked at the paper, his pupil-less eyes taking a moment to focus. Without his high tech battle armor, he did have some issues with seeing things both near and far.

"This is a drawing of me."

He stated the obvious but had no idea what was meant here.

"Yes, I thought... it would look nice....?"

Socially awkward, check.

"I mean-- if you like it... um..." He tried offering the paper over to him. "...you can have it?" It was a present, or at least he hoped it'd go over well enough as one. He tried giving him a little smile, and his wings' fingers curled in a bit more at the joint in their middle, tips turning sideways, trying to curl up to be smaller. Half folded, though, they more just stuck out sideways, down past Avitus's butt and heels, and looked a little funny, as bird wings shouldn't be able to bend like that.

He hesitantly took the paper, politeness taking over. Keeping any non-human that wasn't actively trying to kill him was something he was trained to do, at least. Because others could understand and join the Greater Good. So they mustn't be antagonized.

"Thank you, I suppose...."
poorlittleblueburdie: Avitus, not really making any sort of face (neutral)

[personal profile] poorlittleblueburdie 2013-01-05 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not quite the reaction he'd been half hoping for, though he wasn't entirely certain what reaction he had been half hoping for. He supposed it evened out.

He was still curious about the other, though.

Quiet, "you're not much for big parties either?"

"Not much?"

No, he supposed he wasn't.

"I've never attended a party in the few tau'cyrs that I've lived."

[personal profile] poorlittleblueburdie 2013-01-05 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Tau'cyrs? That was either a kind of place, or a measurement of time. He supposed it didn't really matter, though.

"I've had to go to a lot of them. This one's... probably one of the nicer ones. People aren't being pushy... and I don't have to be a center of attention. It's... kind of nice to get ignored when I want to be, once in a while."
