001 // Training
Who:
Mordred [AU1] and
You!
Where: Capricorn Ward (Central Park)
When: Whenever possible before the Grand Prix
Format: Commentspam, but I can adapt!
Summary: The Grand Prix is coming up, and who cares if he doesn't have a Persona, he's training for it anyways.
[Ever since that announcement on the COMP, Mordred had been spending quite a bunch of his time in this area, it might not be much, but something to get him moving tends to be enough when it comes to practicing his sword skills, especially considering the fact that he can't just spar with Arturia all the time, that'd just make him go into a routine of anticipating familiar moves rather than unfamiliar ones, which would pose a problem in a real fight.
Which would explain why he's alone, really. And just swinging his Katana around in what seemed to be someone swinging it wildly to passer-by, but what it really was just well.
Let's just say a katana isn't meant to be used in a Medieval Western way to put it as simply as possible.]

You're going to get hurt using a weapon like that.

[Yeah, he remembers you from that time.]

For now, she watches.]

It doesn't take him long to notice the girl, though, upon which he stopped and gave her a small wave.]

She's not really doing it very well, mind you, but what she lacks in stealth she makes up for in the sheer laserlike intensity of her gaze. She can't quite bring all of her eyes to bear on you, but she can at least position herself so that ten of them are focused in on you.

For some reason, he felt that there's quite a lot of people staring at him, and yet oddly enough there's no one at a-
Ah, now he gets it.
"...You can come out, you know."

Words fail her right now, so she'll just give you a little wave.

[Non-chalantly responding to that claim by stopping what he's been doing and turning to the person that said it.]
I'm merely training my stance with the only available weapon I have right now.

[ Did he expect some abomination to just show up suddenly? Even if he didn't, she's up in a tree with a "staff" with a couple of tennis balls hanging from it. Squatting down on a branch she leans over to shake it towards him threateningly. ]
You need to swing like you're playing basketball.
no subject
[...The term is not lost on him, but that's certainly a strange metaphor on how to handle a one-handed sword, to be honest.]

He doesn't seem to carry a weapon when he approaches, hands stuffed into his coat pockets, frowning lightly as he turns his head to search for his hopefully-sparring-partner-to-be, frowning when he recognizes him.
...He may be far from an expert, but he is pretty sure that's not how you are supposed to swing a weapon like that.]
...You look like you could use some practice with that.
[And well... that's what they are here for.]
no subject
[He answered as the swing immediately stopped in mid-air as he lowered his arms, the blade resting on his left arm as he turned towards the newcomer.]
I've never used a one-handed weapon often, to be honest.
[Which totally is grounds to save up for a two-handed weapon at the very least before the tournament actually starts.]

Still, his niece doesn't say anything and instead approaches him, a bag of Chinese takeout in one hand and her shiny new chainsword from Garviel in the other. He should know about it. She basically didn't shut up about getting a real sword since it was given to her, even if she still plans on buying a proper broadsword once she saves up the money. Nice as the chainsword is, it doesn't feel quite like it suits her too well.]
Would you like some lunch, Uncle?
no subject
...He's going to stop and regard her with a nod. (Not that he's okay with her carrying a chainsword, but she insisted and he's kinda too lenient with her.)]
...I suppose now would be a good time for a break.

I take it that you don't know the rules of Fencing.

I am not.
[Because he had never been interested in the sport, nor is he familiar with the art of it himself.]
