001 // Training

Who: [personal profile] Mordred [AU1] and [community profile] You!
Where: Capricorn Ward (Central Park)
When: Whenever possible before the Grand Prix
Format: Commentspam, but I can adapt!
Summary: The Grand Prix is coming up, and who cares if he doesn't have a Persona, he's training for it anyways.

[Ever since that announcement on the COMP, Mordred had been spending quite a bunch of his time in this area, it might not be much, but something to get him moving tends to be enough when it comes to practicing his sword skills, especially considering the fact that he can't just spar with Arturia all the time, that'd just make him go into a routine of anticipating familiar moves rather than unfamiliar ones, which would pose a problem in a real fight.

Which would explain why he's alone, really. And just swinging his Katana around in what seemed to be someone swinging it wildly to passer-by, but what it really was just well.

Let's just say a katana isn't meant to be used in a Medieval Western way to put it as simply as possible.]

"A single-edged blade takes away a few killing options from you. Generally, a thrust isn't as effective with it, as they are curved, so you'll have to adjust your motion. It is still manageable but not nearly as easily as with a twin-edged weapon. It also means that you can't wield it like a hammer, most blades of a certain length that are more straight are rather blunt, and you can swap grips down to the blade and use it as a hammer. That's gone, unless you don't like your fingers."

He sweeps his chainsword around in a heavy slash.

"What you've got as compensation is a far better cutting blade. You can lay someone open quite nicely with that. I've seen white scars gut an ork warboss with one of those."

He gestures to the katana. "However, it won't be quite as durable in a brawling fight. That will cut flesh and light armor well, but it won't be as effective against heavily armored foes, where percussive force does more damage than the cutting edge. You're in luck, though, very few armored Daemons here."

"Ready to use it?"

"Yes. Come at me."

He waits, massive form ready to engage, his chainsword at a low buzz, clearly trying not to saw through the katana when he has to deflect and ripost.
