Farewell Happy Fields!
Farewell Happy Fields!
☯
What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.
Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).
So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.
---
Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...
There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.
By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...
[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!
You may all start your threads and mingle!]

His assumption is quite true though. Hizumi hadn't seen any reason to put himself in danger for any of these people, and it was precisely that which had gotten him out of there without any outstanding injuries.
"Of course, of course. It wouldn't do to beat the boss in the very first fight."
At the last part, he attempts to peer at the screen. "Your friends as in... messaging over a network?"
no subject
"My friends as in, uh..." He looks faintly embarrassed, although it isn't as if he's been hiding it since he got it. "The demons I summon."
no subject
"Summoning demons from a video game console... I don't know if I'll ever be able to get used to that."
He doesn't look too surprised, though. He saw the fight, and even before then he'd had a run in with Naoya.
"So they got hurt in the fight too? I guess it would be asking too much for them to be able to heal on their own..."
no subject
They generally did with a little bit of downtime. He had chalked that up to them patching each other up in whatever strange storage space they occupied when they weren't being summoned, but given that Laksmi was the only one with any healing capabilities now, perhaps it was asking too much.
Or maybe he just hadn't given it enough time. Who knew? Atsuro gives a small shrug.
"They're usually pretty resilient. The guy we were up against this time, though..."
They had been doing pretty well up until the explosion, anyway.
It was totally cheating it wasn't even a registered attack.no subject
That said, there were quite a few people who had sustained burns in particular - had this been the work of only one such fellow? Hmmm.
"I hate to say it, but I think our esteemed mayor severely underestimated what he was getting us all into."
no subject
Atsuro gives a small shrug and turns his head back towards the window.
"...He's probably just going to go on TV and rant and rave about the Anoli, though."
no subject
"I'm kind of curious to see how the public responds to this, though. The Anoli made their big speech about working for them, only to start attacking... We'll have to see if anybody feels inspired to shift alliances one way or another."
no subject

"...But on the other hand, they've got to have a good reason for keeping the bubble around. It just might not be the same reason everyone assumes." They said it was for the sake of the people, but who was to say there was no ulterior motive?
no subject
Atsuro shakes his head slightly.
"I'm not any more eager to jump ship to the Anoli because of this, trust me. I mean, I'm not in the hospital because the government sicced troops on me. ...But it might be worth considering that they're not totally trustworthy, either."
no subject
"I guess it would be too much to ask for the government to give us a heads up, though. I mean, we're only risking our lives to help them even though we don't really owe it." He keeps his tone light even through the sarcasm.
no subject
This was getting a little too heavy. Atsuro throws Hizumi another shrug before his expression lightens.
"Hah, well. Whatever's going on, I think we can all agree on the moral of the story of last night: no one appreciates long-winded speeches."
no subject
"Anyway, I'm betting you haven't really gotten to do much since you were admitted to the hospital, so... Know when you'll be allowed out?"
no subject

And then a grin. "Buuut as long as you avoid that, it'd definitely be better for everyone. The staff can focus on helping the other patients, and you don't have to be stuck in bed all day."
no subject
Atsuro responds with a slightly less enthusiastic grin of his own.
"......Yeah. I just hope no one here is too badly hurt. ...It was kind of a mess."
no subject
no subject
"........Kinda thought so. Guess the Anoli really did a number on us, huh...?"
no subject
no subject
"Do you know how many of us there are?"
Not that he expected Hizumi to, but maybe they had said something on the news or something.
"The tech here seems more advanced than medicine back home. I mean, they've got demon magic, for one thing..."
no subject
"Nope. I don't think they've done any official counts yet."
He finally just pulls up a seat at this point, resting his elbows on the backrest and his head in his upturned palms. "It's the same with my world. It's nowhere near the level they've got here... They'll probably be able to save a lot of lives that would normally have been lost. Or at least, compared to the Japan I'm used to."
