What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

Guybrush, as part of the Green brigade one of the lucky few who didn't find himself hospitalized, instead has managed to find himself recruited for a rather odd job on behalf of the Mays Corporation: namely, making "get well soon" gift basket deliveries. Which is why he's been popping in and out of the hospital all day. (Although not, perhaps, as much as he might OTHERWISE need to; the advantage of a nigh-infinite inventory is that it somewhat reduces the number of trips you need to make.)

How much are they paying him? Proooobably not enough, but it's better than nothing. Alternatively, he might be visiting you in your room! You poor bastard.

One of the nurses who had watched the man be-bop around the hospital finally, finally got up the nerve to say something as he passed by her station.

"...you must be a saint."

She wasn't naive enough to think he wasn't being paid, but considering she'd seen evidence of his presence in almost every room...color her impressed, Mr. Mighty Pirate.

Oh man, why'd you have to compliment him like that? He preens a bit. "Well, I'm not actually one, although I could certainly see how you could make that mistake," he replies cockily. Huh, maybe this job is actually kind of rewarding after all. "But no, just doing my job, ma'am."

"At least you're here at all."

The woman frowned, leaning her elbows on the desk. She was starting to develop bags under her eyes.

"...there's visitors here who have nobody. Who were so seriously hurt trying to protect our city...anyone doing anything for them is amazing."

He rubs the back of his neck. "Eh, thank the Mays Corporation for that mostly. I guess you have a point though. Not everybody got a loved one or best buddy showing up with them." Like Guybrush, the lucky stud.

The two of them might spot one another in the hospital's busy hallways.

Shinjiro's somehow not as surprised as he maybe should be that the pirate doesn't appear to be hurt in the slightest. Shinjiro's a different story, the stitched up gash in his arm the most obvious culprit, but seems to not be too worse for the wear, even if he's clearly wearing typical hospital garb. Not one of the one-piece gowns, thankfully, but the green hospital shirt and pants are at a stark contrast to the typical layers he usually wears.

That's Guybrush for you. Lucky in all the ways that could really cause harm to him, unlucky in ways that cause harm to everybody ELSE.

"Oh! Hey! Geez, you're in here too, huh? Seems like everybody got thrown around. Hey, hang on a second, will you?" He fumbles around in that strange, infinite pair of pants of his before extracting another basket. "'Just a friendly little delivery from the Mays Corporation, wishing you a quick recovery after your brave actions during our recent crisis!'" he recites from memory. "...yada yada yada. Anyway, Mays is giving these to all you guys who got admitted."

Shinjiro's learned not to bother asking how he stores half the things he does. He still hopes that fish got better treatment.

"Think everyone's in here whether they need to be or not." He's not sure he even wants the basket, but he takes it anyway without complaint.

He rubs the back of his neck. "I can see that. If somebody isn't getting injured, they're visiting someone who's getting injured." He shakes his head. "Those Anoli guys are really a bunch of jerks, aren't they? Hope they didn't think this would work as a recruitment drive."
