What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

"Yikes. YOU'VE definitely been around the circuit."

Guybrush stands at the door, rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry if I'm bugging you. Mays has me doing some sort of weird promotional thing giving out 'get well soon' stuff to the visitors. Kinda wish I didn't have to be delivering these to a lotta folks, though." He looks awkward. "Uh... okay if I come in?"

"Huh?"

He didn't look that bad, did he? Atsuro suddenly feels a bit self-conscious as he shifts his position on the bed.

"Yeah, sure, come on in. Um... What was that you said you had?"

He looks sheepish as he enters. "Yeah, uh, hang on a sec." He pulls out a basket, and some card, and reads. "'Just a friendly little delivery from the Mays Corporation, wishing you a quick recovery after your brave actions during our recent crisis!'" He sighs. "I guess they think handing out a bunch of random gift baskets make them look like a kind, loving company that loves us or something." He looks in the basket. "You'd think they'd love you enough to give you something better than some of this stuff though. Only two bananas?"

"...Gosh."

Atsuro reaches his hand out for the card and raises an eyebrow.

"It's almost like they're not taking advantage of a bad situation to snag some new customers. ...What do they have to worry about, anyway? They're the biggest store in this whole town."

He'll take the bananas, though.

"Oh, you know. Gotta look good, or... something. Especially with all that 'rargh evil visitors' talk those creepy terrorist guys were going on about." He huffs. "Maaan, what'd we ever do to them anyway? They're just bitter 'cause we're not a bunch of homicidal nutcases and they are."

"That's probably it."

He wasn't even joking.

"People who have views like that... It's a 'friend or enemy' sort of thing. They don't care that they're dealing with other people; it's all just obstacles in the way for them. And right now, we're all working for the government - ostensibly."

"Man, that's dumb. Heck, they coulda done real well with pirates like me! Living free, wide and open. No governments, no rules! Then they had to try to shoot half the populace." He shakes his head. "I prefer my piracy whimsical and adventurous, thanks."

Atsuro smiles slightly, appreciative of Guybrush's light tone. There had been far too much excessively serious conversation about this, honestly...

"Yeah, well. Tell 'em to bring along Nerf guns the next time and we'll see how much whimsy we can get out of this."

Guybrush can't help but have a light tone most of the time. He comes from a comedy series.

"Or have them learn how to go 'arrrrrrrr' properly. It'd make me feel right at home!" He nods sagely.

"...Huh. Do pirates really say that?"

He blinks for a few moments.

"I thought that was just something in cartoons."

"Only the ones who are massively overcompensating for something." YOU HEAR THAT LECHUCK

Blink blink.

"...Well! Thanks for coming around, anyway. I mean, I'm not going to complain about free food, even if it's a little... mercantile."

"To put it mildly. Ah well." He rubs the back of his neck. "Hey, maybe we can work together to find more random stuff for those folks in the Velvet Room sometime when you get out! Or is that more of an encouragement to stay IN the hospital?"

"Oh, hey, yeah -- How'd that go? I got something pretty spiffy outta mine."

"I got some sort of cheap pirate costume and a swordy...gunny thing. Not too bad actually." He pauses. "Well, the weapon anyway."

"Huh. ...Well." Pirate costumes wouldn't be his number one choice, but. "It reminds you of home, right?"

"I guess so. Home's made of fewer synthetic materials though." He shrugs. "Anyway, I'm pretty set on this current getup. Haven't even had to change outfits for a while now. Er, not counting needing to wash things, I mean." Hey, he's not THAT piratical.

"..."

Actually they all went for the 'twenty identical shirts and pants' thing apparently, or at least extremely similar shirts and pants. Atsuro's choice was made out of laziness, honestly.

"Yeah. ...I got a CD. ...With a new Persona installed in it somehow."

He gives a shrug.

"I'm still not sure what happened there. ...The next time I did a favor, I got nothing, so I guess it balances out."

He mulls this. "I wonder if I was the one giving the reward this time or something weird? I didn't really get anything either, but the white-haired guy -- you know him? Yu? -- got a cat out of it." Mostly because Guybrush didn't want to adopt the little jerk himself.

((Sorry for being so late! I got ...distracted, aha.))

"Huh?"

Atsuro blinks for a few moments.

"They were handing out kittens in the Velvet Room? What did you have to get for them?"

"No no no, they asked me to find a place for some jerk cat that was wandering around. No live pets have been exchanged as part of any transactions here." Which he's thankful for, because keeping most live animals in his trousers is always a massive pain in the butt.
