Farewell Happy Fields!

Farewell Happy Fields!

What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

---

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

You may all start your threads and mingle!]

That he really should have. She chuckled, though whether it is malevolent or simply amused is up to him.

"Indeed it is. However, can you truly say your friends have not attempted to bait another to attack them?" Because she could remember clearly the facts behind one of their kidnappings, at least. It had been the talk of the town, much like the others. Not to mention... a battle that took place in the real end of this realm. One that he does not yet recall.

"Yet you have forgiven others... though I cannot say your anger is unwarranted." If he hadn't noticed, she was rather angered as well. there still lingered a faint hint of an electrical charge in the fog. "Do not apologize for emotions you have not been able to sort through. ...Apologize to those who must watch and wait for you."

You made Yukiko break down, okay. She will not forgive you so easily for having to attempt to help comfort her. What is comforting, anyway.

Yu didn't have a comment for the first part… because Naoto. To be fair, though, they had all scoulded her for her rash choice to make herself bait; even Kanji had taken off his Naoto-vision goggles to do so. The mayor would probably get a lot of flax for weeks after this, but forgiveness would come eventually. Just not anytime soon.

"Yeah… another thing I have to thank you for…" he murmured faintly. He had heard Yukiko's suffering in soft whispers, but he hadn't been able to do a damn thing about it, and it was his own fault. But was he supposed to do? Let her take the hit instead? He couldn't do that; he cared for her as a friend -- more than that…

Speaking of…

"About emotions I need to sort through… we need to talk."

To be honest, Yu was likely to get the same lecture and scolding from his friends about that split-second decision. She smirked a bit at his inability to answer that, but offered a hand so that he could stand fully in this fog without the aid of his glasses.

"She is one of the few who ceased in the skepticism to listen... It was the least a god could do." In other words, don't fret over it too much. Though, that last comment made her raise an eyebrow.

Oh dear.

"Walk with me, then." And do not fear Death for this brief time, nor the voices of society.

He let her help him up, holding her gaze a moment, before turning, accepting the offer to walk alongside her. Silence hung between them, and in that silence it didn't take much for Yu to realize that he was keeping close to her the whole time. He let out a faint sigh, forcing himself to drift away slightly, though not by much.

"...I'm conflicted in my feelings toward you."

He needed to get this sorted out already; the emotions he felt anytime she was around was... troubling to say the least. His Persona obviously had a lot to do with it, and he couldn't be afraid to have Izanagi around or summoned or anything, just because he didn't know what the hell to do about this.

It was hard not to notice, but she did not seem to note it as she continued along her way, subtly leading him as they made their way through doorway after doorway, path after path. Yet never once did they seem to find themselves lost. The silence was natural for her, at least until it was broken by that one sentence.

"Are you, now." Odd, she nearly seemed amused. Izanami didn't even seem to break pace as they spoke. It was as though she were waiting for him to continue before stating anything.

Yu gave a faint nod, not looking to her and instead keeping his focus on the path ahead. He kind of expected that sort of… non-response from her – it wasn't like she made a habit of letting her emotions be known or anything – but it still made explaining what he meant difficult.

"When you're nearby… it's much like when I'm with Yukiko, but… different," he began, a bit of an awkward hesitance in his voice. "I feel like I can do just about anything if I just reach out and hold on to you."

He's not ignorant, he knows what a feeling like that is called, but toward Izanami of all people?

"…I don't know if it's really me that feels this way," he finished softly. "The line between myself and my persona is blurred when it comes to you."

Once or twice, the goddess did glance to the injured human, but said nothing as he spoke. She never allowed her emotions to show unless it was a powerful one, especially her anger. Even if her mask had been removed, there was still a wall she had erected between herself and the child. Between everyone and herself, in truth. Not simply because she wanted to, but because it was needed. Especially amongst her representatives.

In all, most humans seemed to feel that way (however deluded that belief may be, she thought) whenever they grew closer to a god. That was not so surprising. What was, however, was the way he interpreted it. What it meant to him.

...It was time to draw a new line, no matter how painful it would be.

"Child, I am a god of death. One who, in your future, shall try to claim simply not just your life, but those of your friends." She raised an eyebrow. "Would you truly risk those bonds for one?"

Leaving that question in the air for a brief moment, she continued.

"Connecting oneself to one who has already passed on, yearning for the departed, does not lead to happiness.... but suffering and anguish for the living." Izanagi knew that better than most. "You, and the Mask you bear, were meant to live on in their stead. To live life as you see fit."

"You think I don't know that?"

He stopped then, turning to face her finally. He remembers that vision of the future that was shown to him, and all the pain and suffering that was associated with it. It had hurt more than he could describe to see his friends falling one by one, not to mention the breathless pain he himself had suffered. But if anything, it made him more curious of the goddess; why she did what she did, what was in it for her, and what did she learn from everything? He wanted to know it all, as well as make sense of the massive bucket of emotion that came with it.

"Even right now, I just want to hold onto you," he replied softly, his hands coming up like he was going to cup her face but he somehow managed to restrain himself. "It doesn't make sense to me, and the only way I'm going to be able to keep going forward is if it stops already."

It took a supreme amount of effort, but he forced his arms to drop. He wanted to say that forging a social link with her just made things worse, even at the first stage, but he didn't want to reverse it either... He didn't know what he was supposed to do.
