What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

[She shifts, left eye twitching as she does so. Still, she at least wants to look him in the eye no matter how much she still inwardly tenses sometimes despite outward appearances (the doctor is likely to scold her, but ~~her inventory is fresh out of fawkes to give~~ she doesn't care).]

...You seemed frustrated, when we were deciding what to do about this in the first place. [She looks a bit sad as she admits it, but-] It's the least I can do, so there won't be a next time where anyone is left behind.

[There's something almost satisfying about hearing her voice one of the annoyances bouncing around in his head. He cants his head slightly, regarding her with a careful, studied look, before focusing inward, pulling at that feeling that he'd felt before back then... maybe...]

Still, the burn on her arms and back don't seem as severe now... so she can't help but nod and blink. It's a start, at least...]

...Whoa. [Okay yeah, it's the pain meds talking.] Thanks.

[Sorry to disappoint, next time he'll summon all the demons of the abyss if it makes you feel better...

He shrugs a little.]

It does something else too... maybe it boosts power somehow. I didn't really do very much with it. Since you all were busy with these matters, I felt I had to take things into my own hands.

[It's delivered flatly, though his eyes narrow just slightly.

Then it's back to casual normalcy as he considers her words.]

How long have you been using yours?

...Three months.

[Her voice is soft when she answers. Still, she noticed that far too easily. She nearly seems affronted, really.]

Contrary to what others may think, every spell or ability is special. Not just to me, but those who have learned and mastered of it. Just the ability to talk to those we know is precious.

[Because not everyone can; not everyone has the luxury of being able to sit and converse with the ones they love.]

I know. I'm lucky that I still remembered how to speak or feed myself or any of those things. I could have been a completely clean slate. How far would your kindness have gone, then?

[The meaning of the jab seems to have gone over her head so he lets it go with a sigh.]

He hadn't come any further into the room even after she'd invited him. He looks around blankly, before simply standing where he is... not certain about getting closer. His fingers seem to tense for a moment, curling just slightly, but relax quickly. Curiosity piqued, and a decision made.

He moves in closer, standing just out of reach of the bed.]

[Sob, Amnesianort stop that. Though maybe secretly, she doesn't mind the fact he is keeping some distance.]

...Alright. I guess... it's just a little awkward, talking and not being able to at least sit up fully.

[Darn it, hospital staaaaaff.]

[In a fluid motion, he kneels on the floor.]

[...She gives a faint laugh at that. Oh, Amnesiaderp. You could be such a brat sometimes. Much like someone else she knew when they were kids.]

A little bit. ['Dork.'] You know how Terra and I are brother and sister by adoption, right? Well... we have a younger brother, too.

[Oh man, this is going to suck explaining.]

His name is Ven, and when our father first took him in... he couldn't remember anything but his name, either.

[Family stuff. He hadn't known they were adopted, but the way they acted around each other implied that they were close in a familial way. Even if they didn't share any similar traits. That explained that well enough.

The idea of someone else... and a similar case? Though of course Terra wouldn't acknowledge him in that regard. Whatever kept him out of their circle clearly ran deep. He kept the frown away from where he was kneeling on the floor, his expression smoothed into vague curiosity, head tilted up in rapt attention instead.]

What did you do for him?

[Considering what she knew, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise when she was hesitant at first. Though facing so much death and being so helpless could change someone, and while she didn't trust him nearly as much as her Master would have and did...

It was time for honesty, despite what her Persona and better judgement were screaming inside her head.]

We treated him like family, or as much as we could while he was comatose for most of the time when he first joined us. Though we couldn't say much about his past in front of him... Whatever happened traumatized him so much that he would have a meltdown whenever we accidentally triggered something.

[...Can he see where she's going with this? The worry she has for him in a similar regard?]

[She's dangling these hooks of similarity, trying to get him to back off 'for his own good'. He doesn't buy it though. He's not comatose, and he's never been triggered or traumatized. If it happened, then he'd know to back off. Until then, it was still fair game.]

So you avoided the problems because he couldn't handle it. And now you assume that I'm a similar case.

[Well, things happened before and the consensus was they didn't want to subject the city to the hell they'd been through back home.]

I suppose I should be grateful that everyone was so kind when I arrived. It could have been much worse. Though I wonder sometimes how much it puts him out.

[She makes a face at that, the hand with the IV in it clutching the small blue charm she insisted on keeping close all the tighter. 'Much worse... is an understatement.']

I'm sorry, Xehanort. Perhaps when I've recovered, I can answer a few of your questions.

[She doesn't know the full truth and has a lot to think about.]

[His eyes slide back over to her, evaluating her for a moment or two.]

Perhaps. We'll see what happens. These avenues are often dead ends.
