What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

"...Ah?"

It seems pretty clear that this person had plucked the feather from his own body to offer to him. Atsuro isn't sure if he's a little grossed out or, er, touched by the act - clearly, this was meant to be a nice gesture wherever this person came from... Still, he isn't about to reciprocate by pulling out a handful of hair or anything. The boy in the hospital bed smiles with a cautious laugh before reaching out a hand.

"Ah... thank you! That's... really nice of you."

He holds it a little uncertainly in his hand before slowly placing it down on the table next to his bed.

"I'll weigh it down with this. If that's OK."

Atsuro will shift a book to rest on top of the stem.

Avitus gave him a little nod; he saw no reason to protest whatever the other wanted to do with it. It wasn't as though it were still attached to him! It'd already been loose when he'd pulled it; it would have fallen out on its own later, even if he hadn't, all thanks to what was surely the beginnings of a stress-induced molt.

"My name is Avitus," he said, giving him another nod, as a bow. "I don't suppose there's anything else I can do for you, since I'm here...?"

"I'm Atsuro. Atsuro Kihara."

Avitus was somehow a very appropriate name for a man with wings. The boy shakes his head with a small smile.

"It's nice to meet you. And, uh... thanks, but I think I'm good." He gives a shrug. "I just have to sit here until they say I can go, basically... I guess you can't change their minds?"

"Atsuro Kihara?" Saying that carefully, thinking over it. "I can't say it sounds entirely like the names people have where I'm from. Might I ask if it has a particular meaning to it?

"And... I can try asking the doctors, but I can't promise they'll listen to me. I might be able to bring you some books from the library if you wanted, though...?"

"Kihara is my family name." He supposes non-Japanese people wouldn't understand the nuances behind kanji and that sort of thing. "It means... 'field of trees', I guess, but last names don't really have much meaning. Atsurou is pretty common, too - the first symbol means something like 'sincere' and 'rou' just means 'son'."

Not terribly interesting, but his parents hadn't been terribly creative people.

"Nah, I was just joking. Don't worry about it! Thanks, though..."

"I see." A nod.

"Is it... customary, here, to introduce oneself by naming one's family as well? Or is that only when one's given name is common enough that there may be more than one person with that name?"

He didn't look like he was sure what to make of that -- had he introduced himself incorrectly, maybe?

((...As though there would be two blue bird-people named Avitus here. Right.))

"Er..."

Atsuro blinks for a few moments.

"It's more polite in Japanese to address someone by their last name until you get to know them better, yeah. Hinoto-Ri's a Japanese city, but... there are so many people from different worlds around, it really doesn't matter..."

"Oh." That little smile looks vaguely like relief on his face, somehow. "Right... then... just Avitus, for me. And... you would prefer that I address you as Kihara?"

Best to make sure; he didn't want to offend!

"Oh, no, that's fine. You can call me whatever you like - there's some sort of universal translator here, right? We're not technically speaking Japanese or anything right now..."

"Perhaps, but how would you prefer to be addressed? I'd rather call you something I know you wish to be called."

"Atsuro is fine." He gives a shrug. "...Honestly, anything but Otakuro works."

Private joke of some sort, apparently.

He nods. "All right. ....should I ask what Otakuro means?" He's suspecting not.

((Sorry for being so late! I got distracted by event stuff.))

"Er. It won't make any sense to you, probably." Atsuro looks vaguely embarrassed for a few moments.

"...Anyway, thanks again."

He gave another little nod of a bow. "You're welcome. I hope you recover soon."

He'll turn and slip out of the room again, to go finish his rounds of gifting people with oversized feathers.
