What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

When it seems as though Riku hasn't noticed him, he begins to scoot along the wall, trying to stay out of sight just in case but still determined to pass him without notice.

He begins to limp down the hallway again, though he stops again a moment later, blinking and turning his head when he catches a flash of grey through an open door.

Thinking that he's home free, he lets himself be a bit less cautious, ducking into a room (its occupants seem to be sleeping, thankfully) in order to escape Riku's gaze. He stops to wait, looking over one of the peoples' chart with idle curiosity, listening for Riku's footsteps to fade away.

And fade they do, as Riku finds a small bench to sit down at after a another minute or two - he still is drained from battle and despite the urgency he feels, he has no intention of over-exhausting himself. (He does have some common sense left.)

He rests his head back against the wall, eyes closing for a second - now, while he's just by himself, he can admit that maybe he should have waited another day with this after all.

[All quiet then? Thinking he's home free he strolls out of the room... only to almost screech to a halt when Riku is clearly still right there, only sitting.

He doesn't look that good though, on closer inspection.]

... are you all right?

He stiffens slightly at Xehanort's voice, head snapping up, but then he blinks when he recognizes the other and relaxes again. He might not fully trust him, but Xehanort has never done anything that deserves his wariness - not here at least - and really, even if he stays guarded, there isn't much he could do about an attack right now anyways.

He shrugs at the question.

"As all right as I can be, considering..."

He gestures down at his cast.

"Ah, you were involved in that as well."

A sharp note to his voice, reproachful perhaps. He keeps his gaze even in order to hide the bitter distaste he feels.

"You're not confined to a bed though. You must be faring better than the others. That's good..."

He shrugs in answer, because well... guilty as charged. He had been involved, he had fought from start to finish and he has no regrets about it, no matter how reproachful Xehanort does or does not sound. His opinion on this doesn't matter all too much to Riku after all.

There is a bit of a sheepish look flickering over his face, when Xehanort mentions him not being confined to bed - no being in bed, doesn't exactly mean that he isn't supposed to be in bed, but he masks it as quick as he can.

"Maybe. I was just on my way to check on them."

Because he won't have any peace until he knows for sure how everyone else is faring.

If there's one thing that he can't fault these people for, it's how closely-knit they are. Whatever sort of secret group they may be, they care about each other quite a bit. It's touching.

"I'm sure they're waiting for you," he intones, though he keeps the emotion out of his voice. "You guys seem to stick together quite strongly."

Riku shrugs again at that - secret group or not, he would be worrying about the people he cares about regardless.

"We are friends."

Yeah, it's as simple as that. It hasn't always been - not for him at least; he has had times of doubt, times where he hadn't believed, but now... now he does.

That Riku can make that statement so boldly... while Xehanort does like some of the people here, he isn't sure if he would consider them friends (or if they would do likewise). He crosses his arms quickly to deflect the sentiment.

"You've known each other for a long time, then."

He hadn’t always been able to, and it’s still hard in some cases – and he is definitely much less at ease to state things like that than Sora; he’ll always be. That’s just the difference between them. Also, have another shrug.

“In some cases.”

In some… not so much.

In some cases? Are you just presuming in others?

"No."

Xehanort, plz.

"I just haven't known some people quite as long as others. Doesn't mean they are any less of a friend though."

"I suppose it's something you can just... tell?"

He's not certain he wants to admit to having that sort of feeling of closeness to others quite yet. Friends are something he's not sure about.

He nods.

"With some practice."

"Then you should go to them. I'll stop interrupting."

He shifts a bit, not curtly but something else. He doesn't have any feeling about this. It's all a bit foolish, if nothing else...

"You aren't."

Not while he's still resting anyways. It will still take some minutes until he fully trusts himself to start moving again.

"...You are here to visit some of them yourself, right?"

He almost wants to laugh. He's here to visit people in a more vindictive sense... hardly because he would consider them friends. At least, for most of them, there hasn't been any friendly overtures...

"I'm here to visit, yes," he responds dryly. "Though I haven't really had much luck finding anyone I know. It seems there were a lot of foolish people involved in all of this."

Foolish people? Really?

...Though well, he supposes there is a little foolishness to all of this, all things considered. Still.

"Foolish maybe. But most of us had good intentions at least."

Of course... the road to hell is paved with good attentions; Riku knows this more than well enough. Whether this is the case here... well, time would tell.

"I think you'll find most of them down in the ICU."

Good intentions? He holds his tongue. Life is full of good intentions, but such things are ultimately meaningless.

"I don't know most of them. I've seen those I know about." And those he cares about, though he doesn't voice that sentiment.

No, they aren't. Not if coupled with a little bit of skill, luck and stubbornness. And Riku knows, he should probably let this go, but he can't quite help himself.

"And there I thought you 'hadn't much luck'."

A quiet snort of derision, and Xehanort raises a hand in an almost strikingly familiar fashion, gesturing slightly.

"You don't need luck to look in every room until you find the one that has someone you know."

Familiar indeed, almost familiar enough to get Riku to tense. Almost. Instead he follows up on the banter.

"Asking the nurse would do too."

Being caught in something so simple makes him scowl tightly, his eyes straying away from the young Master in displeasure.

"I suppose that is true enough. They are rather busy, though."
