What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.

Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).

So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.

Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...

There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.

By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...

[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!

"Oh." Minato gazes at the feather for a few moments before looking back up at the blue person. "Um... thank you." And then he pauses again, trying to think of a polite way to ask 'so ... what are you, then?' But he can't, so instead he just croaks out, "What... are you?"

The blue person just smiles a little more, giving a soft snuff, finding humor in the frank question, rather than offense. He should've expected that, he knew. This wasn't his home, and his clan wasn't here; the humans didn't know them. He should've been rather surprised instead if anyone did recognize what he was.

And yet, the question caught him every time, even when he'd had the mind to give at least a partial, cursory explanation not even half a minute prior.

"I'm Razielim," he said, "one of the six vampire clans of Nosgoth. We live in the Citadel, with the humans, to keep the other clans at bay. But... I'm afraid I'm no hunter." He looked down at that, holding his hands to polish the back of one large thumbnail by rubbing at it, a sort of fidget. At least he was able to hold his smile, though, as he looked back to Minato.

"My name is Avitus." He gives the human a nod, bobbing slightly in a way that could only be taken as some kind of bow, subtle but certainly there, in his shy stance. "It's... nice to meet you."

Minato would return the bow, but it's a little difficult when he's just lying there, so he just nods slightly. "'m Minato Arisato. It's nice to meet you, Avitus. ... did you say vampire...?"

"I did, yes." It seemed simple enough to him, really, but his little smile lessened after a moment of thinking about it, wings slowly sinking somewhat. The human had recognized the word, it seemed to him... and between that, and knowing his own world's history with them....

"Your world has vampires... and they don't get along with the humans?"

It was a guess, at least. He hoped he was wrong, but he couldn't know until the other confirmed or denied it.

"Huh? No... vampires're just stories in my world." Minato shakes his head a little, trying to be a bit reassuring since he seems to be upset, now.

"Oh." Well, he certainly looks... relieved?

"It's good to hear that. Though... now I find myself curious as to what your world's stories have to say. I'm not certain whether I should ask or not."

"Lots of things... they all drink human blood for ah... food, though," Minato mumbles in spite of the uncertainty, figuring he might want to know all the same.

"Oh." Well, that was... uninformative, wasn't it?

He was quiet a second, not sure how to respond, while he mulled it over. If the stories said lots of things, but that was the only detail that the other brought up, then there was a reason for it, right?

Maybe it was the only consistent detail? Sure, the vampires in Nosgoth varied wildly, but...

"I understand that fiction varies, but... do they not agree on anything else?"

Sorry, Minato; he's not really catching on here.

"Um... not really. The details tend to vary with who's writing, when and where..."

He's not really sure how to sum it up, given that there are things like oh say Nosferatu and then there's Dracula but then there are anime he's seen where the vampires are all pretty and misunderstood, and that's not even touching the wide range of vampire-like creatures in lore.

"As it happens with most accounts, I find... even those that aren't purely flights of fancy."

What was that saying, that history was written by the victors? He knew all too well that the truth varied by source and perspective, among other things, so to think that stories that weren't even based on something observable would all be entirely in agreement was probably quite laughable.

Not that he was laughing there, of course. He still seemed vaguely... confused? ...unsure what to make of the subject, at least.

"Perhaps especially those." He frowned a little, to himself, quietly, thinking about that... but after a moment, he peeked back up at Minato, trying to offer a little smile to lighten the mood. It wasn't all that effective; something was on his mind still from that train of thought he was trying to come away from. "I don't suppose there's anything you were curious about, if vampires are naught but made-up tales, in your world...?"

Well, others certainly had, so maybe Minato would like to ask something too? ~~Maybe he could try spelling out what he hadn't quite asked, just a minute or two ago, if he wanted?~~

"Um... do you drink blood?" It's really the only thing he can think to ask.

Avitus blinked, not really expecting that question. Questions on all the other details, which did differ between tales, perhaps, but not on the one thing the human had said was consistent. How confusing!

"Well... yes. It's rather one of the few constants among the clans in Nosgoth, not just in stories. There used to be more, but they've all changed so much since the Empire...." He shook his head, puzzled look turning a little toward a frown. More to himself than Minato, "I should probably purchase more on my way home again, too...."
