▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

The Taurus monster had come and pass, as had Golden Week. The city was rebuilding itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safey, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside during the next few nights and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little momento from home.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independant log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

[ Here's the thing. Lucina came a few moments before the beginning of the 13th hour, where she would have had enough time to go to her apartment. She was nearly going to just get some rest, too - but then in those brief minutes of indecisiveness, it became the 13th hour.

It's almost impossible to not explore the city that completely changes in moments, you know?

So she wanders around, eventually getting herself to the Virgo Ward, and seeing the closed shops, coupled with the silence over the street... it's actually kind of eerie. It's almost like seeing one of the villages back home, only with less destruction - but still just as empty, if not... emptier? Her steps turn cautious, hoping no danger catches her off guard.

Well, until she sees the Black Frost Statue some distance away. ] ... What is that...? [ Time to go approach it, one step at a time.

If someone came up to her right now, she'd be scared out of her mind. ]

[ Being in Hinoto-Ri has been a mixed bag of experiences thus far. When Lucy can actually stand to go outside, she only goes at night, since that's when there aren't any people around. However, the lack of other people makes the larger space of the city seem even larger. It's larger than that station she was locked up in for two years before now, it's probably even bigger than Kamakura.

But she trudges past the feeling of the sky sucking her up into it. She has to swallow the lonely, cold air that permeates the warming spring night. The cold of the 13th Hour, the hour that reminds her she truly knows no one here. If she's going to get used to this place, it's best to swallow such uncomfortable feelings and keep walking.

. . . well, keep walking until she nearly runs into someone thanks to her lack of attention. At the last minute, she throws herself backward a step or two before she can literally walk right into Lucina, looking as if she's stumbled upon a rattlesnake. ]

What are you doing? Stay out of the way.

[ Quite the rude thing to say since Lucina wasn't really doing anything like getting in her way. ]

[ Footsteps? Lucina doesn't hear anything like that - instead, she's all too focused on the looming statue that doesn't look like it should belong with the rest of this word. And... what's that by the foot of the statue? Are those monsters? A hand immediately moves to the hilt of her sword, ready to fight the moment they notice her.

Luckily, it looks like they're too focused doing their own thing. Maybe she should turn around, come back to this place another ti---

Oh hi there Lucy. ] Aaah-!! [ The sudden voice almost gives her a heart attack ~~but she's ten times louder than the other had been~~, and she's stumbling back a few steps from the sheer shock of it.

... She visibly relaxes (while looking appropriately embarrassed), straightening up. ] Er, I apologize. I didn't know anyone else was here...

[ The sudden outburst seems to have gotten the attention of some of the monsters at the Statue, though. They glance over, then go back to what they were doing. At least they're passive. ]

[ She was expecting Lucina to jump or maybe even squeak in surprise. It's a natural reaction, after all. But she didn't expect her to shriek so loudly. God, is her ear ringing?

The pink-haired woman winces from the scream, but instead of appearing startled, she looks as though she's dealing with a particularly irritating child. She brings her hand up to her ear and the glower she throws Lucina's way could chill the blood of even a hardened military general. ]

Scream like that again and the ones that aren't friendly will cut your tongue out.

[ It wasn't exactly her intention to scream Lucy's ears off, but apparently this particular situation was extra-startling. Oops.

It appears that she shrank a little from the glare that was thrown in her direction, though she's trying her best to stand at her normal height. Respect is one thing, fear is another - and Lucina (hopes she) has nothing to fear. ] I apologize, again. I mistakenly believed I had been alone here.

... Ones that aren't friendly? [ The little bit catches her interst, tilting her head in question. ]

[ She tilts her head just slightly. Did this girl really think there wouldn't be more threatening things around here? She's imagining that armored getup of hers is just for show if she was that unobservant. ]

Just look and you'll see them in the shadows.

[ Now that she mentions it... Lucina's eyes dart to one of the alley ways, where she can make out vague shapes moving in the shadows.

Maybe this place isn't so different from her home; whatever this place is, anyway.

It seems that the two of them attracted the attention of a group of demons from the said darkness, though. Lucina notices them move closer to where they're standing, and her hand's back at the hilt of her Falchion, drawing it from its sheath. ] I trust you know how to fight. [ A safe enough assumption to make, considering the stranger pointed the demons out to her. ]

[ For her part, Lucy doesn't appear at all fazed by the hulking shadows coiling and shifting at the edges of her peripheral vision. She stays calmly standing with her arms folded across her chest. She's heard mention of those "Persona" things, but as of yet, she hasn't tried to summon hers yet. Her own natural weapons will do the job just fine. ]

Don't worry about me. Just keep an eye on your own skin.

[ The monsters look nothing like the Risen, which means they look nothing like humans - would that make it easier? All the same, it makes her feel less threatened; though, she knows she still has to be careful. Don't attack hastily, wait for an opening. All that stuff.

She vaguely remembers the word Persona - but that's not important now, is it? The demons are only approaching them faster, and she readies herself. She moves mere moments after the first demon launches into an attack, swinging her sword. ]

[ Lucy doesn't share Lucina's alarm or concern. As the monsters tread nearer, she stays as cool as can be, not one hair out of place. When they come within six feet of her, her reason for being so composed is clear. The demons that come close to her stop, and pieces of them just seem to fall off. Arms, legs, faces, chunks of torsos if they even have them, all hit the ground and the wounds deal enough damage to send them back to wherever they came from in a flurry of dust. It only works for some, as she's found her vectors only work half the time. The rest look shocked, but ultimately undaunted. ]

[ Lucina's somewhere between her second and third demon when she hears multiple thuds behind her. Curiosity killed the cat, as they say, and she turns around after the third demon has been defeated. The numbers of their enemy has decreased in half in a flash. ] How in the gods... [ It's more to herself than it is to Lucy, muttering in a horrified kind of awe, before snapping out of it.

Might as well start getting rid of the other half, then. ]

[ Lucina's apparent suspicion almost brings a smirk to her face, albeit a small and wry one. Well, at least if the girl proves a nuisance later, she can deal with her. For the time being, she's content to ignore her and let her be since the monsters themselves are a more pressing matter.

Her vectors cut through only a few, and that worries her, not that it shows on her face. Where one vector fails, she sends another two to punch or cut at the demon she missed. They don't bleed, even after being cut in half, but at least they disappear if she tears off enough limbs...if they have limbs. One demon in front of her is a mass of goo and tentacles and she's not sure what to make of it at all. ]

[...And guess who was silently floating nearby? There's little to indicate his presence, not even the sound of breathing. He's perfected sneaking up on people to an art form...not that he was sneaking up on her. He just happened to be nearby. Of course, as awkward as Alcor is, he tends to forget that humans don't take kindly to beings appearing out of nowhere and talking. And so, from somewhere behind Lucina...]

Black Frost.

[...Hey, she asked.]

[ Nope, she definitely doesn't notice anything around her - this statue, as creepy as it looks, is rather interesting. Maybe she should try moving a little closer? But she's not entirely sure what it is, so she reminds herself to be cautious, so that she's not caught unaware if anything were to happen --

Well. Spoke too soon. ] Gods-! [ She jumps noticeably, quickly spinning around, because whoever that voice was must be a Risen or ----

Not. ] Oh. Er... [ This just got really awkward. She clears her throat, her lips pressing into a thin line as pink colors her cheeks. Yeah, she's a little embarrassed. But this stranger mentioned something about... ] Black Frost?

Yes. That's the name of the demon the statue is modeled after.

[Alcor gestures in the direction of the statue, before returning his hand to his pocket. He doesn't seem to mind her embarrassment, tilting his head to the side.]

Ah, did I startle you? I'm sorry about that.

A demon...? [ She glances back at the statue, then back to the man. ] ... I see. Is there a reason there are strange creatures resting by it?

[ She shakes her head. ] It's alright. If anything, I should have been more careful, in a place like this... [ ... Whatever this place is, anyway. ]

[He won't deny that; it's dangerous during the 13th Hour for normal humans. He gives her a small nod, as he won't repeat what she has already acknowledged.]

Most of those creatures are demons as well.

[Most, not all. There were a few types running around in Hinoto-Ri that he didn't recognize as demons as he knew them.]

Fortunately, they do not seem to be aggressive.

Ah. [ A nod - she figures they're similar to the Risen from her world, only... they don't seem to be humans. ] Where have they come from? [ There's distant memories a voice speaking of a war, saving the city, personas... But they don't seem to make much sense.

Sorry, Alcor. She's going to ask a few questions until she understands this a little better. ]

[Ask away, Lucina. Alcor loves curious minds, and he certainly likes seeing people ask questions. It was better than them sitting around complacently and simply accepting what they're told, closed to the possibilities around them.]

During this time, demonic activity increases. It is only natural that they would come out of their habitats. As for their origins...I'm afraid I can't say for certain.

[Although he's well familiar and aware of most of the creatures here ~~thanks to being from a spinoff of SMT~~, which certainly came in handy and made him suspect that it was another universe the administrator he knows is involved in, but he's also aware of the possibility that they were all simply brought here, just like the Visitors themselves.]

Perhaps they have always existed in this world.

[ Ah, that makes more sense. At least, it explains the sudden change in atmosphere she experienced moments ago; it must have something to do with the demons appearing. She hums thoughtfully, nodding. ] But they don't show themselves otherwise? [ So different from the Risen that she faced back in her world.

Demons that only appear at certain times in the day... It's definitely an interesting thought. ] Hm. I wonder, what makes this time so special...? [ It's more of a rhetorical question than anything else, but she gives a glance around the streets, realizing there's a more important question to be asked. ]

... What exactly is this world?

They do, at times, but they are far less hostile than the ones walking the earth right now.

[There's always the occasional demon wandering around and whatnot, but it's only when the 13th Hour occurs that they start...misbehaving too much for his taste, shall we say. He smiles at her, happy to see her curiosity.]

The name of this world is Earth, and this city is known as Hinoto-Ri. I suspect it is a world different from the one you know.

[Judging from her...everything.]

[ But not as bad as the Risen wrecking havoc in her home land. At least these beings seem to operate on a set schedule. It gives them a better time to prepare (if needed be), and knowing this about the enemy can always result in better strategies formed...

She's the tactician's daughter for a reason.

Anyway, the information earns another nod from her. ] For the most part, it's very different from where I'm from.

... Ah, pardon me, I haven't introduced myself. My name's Lucina, from the continent of Ylisse. [ Though here, where she's from won't make much of a difference. She extends a hand out in greeting. ] I truly appreciate all the help so far.

[Ylisse...nope, not ringing a bell.

He stares at the extended hand for a moment, before awkwardly taking it (That was what humans did, yes?) and simply letting his fingers hang there as if he's unused to it and confused as to what to do. ...Well, he is.]

...My name is Alcor. I'm happy to be of assistance to you.

[ ... The pause confuses her. Did they not have handshakes in this world? It's awkward to stop now, though - she holds his fingers lightly, before giving them a small shake, then letting her arm fall to her side.

This just got really awkward. She clears her throat, before asking another question. ] What can you tell me... about persona? [ Because the word's been hanging out in her head, and she's not sure what it is, exactly. ]

[He retracts his arm as well, putting it back in his pocket. An awkward star, that he is.]

That is the ability granted by Philemon to all Visitors upon arrival. Many of these summonable entities take on the form of historically significant or mythological figures. ...It seems that stressful situations in which the user's life is in danger can cause it to awaken, though there is another method.

[At least, that's what he's gathered. He hasn't awakened his own yet, despite his time here, since that requires an Evoker, major stress/pressure/a life threatening situation...and he doesn't care about his life. Oops. There's more he hasn't covered, but he'll allow her some breathing time if she has any questions.]
