Summary: We have a pool now!  Summer fun for everyone!

[It's summer, and what would summer be without a pool?  Well, thankfully for the good citizens and Visitors of Hinoto-Ri, the public pool is finally open for business!  With three different pools, a snack bar, and plenty of space on the grass for playing frisbee or just laying out to get some sun, there's plenty of summertime fun for everyone!  There are also a number of pool toys to use, ranging from basketball hoops and plastic balls, water noodles, boogie boards, and just about anything else you can think of.]

Swimming is fun. But if you only stay in for ten minutes or so, you won't have enough time to get into it!

[But he does look pleased that Atsuro's finally moving. Don't mind him following you to the lockers to cut off any escape attempts.]

I won't have enough time for the water to get into me and asphyxiate me, either.

[Atsuro is a great believer in positive thinking.]

Alright, I'll just go to the locker and... uh... pack my stuff......

...Are you going to watch me take my clothes off?

Why would I do that? [Sheesh Atsuro, he's not even interested in you.] I've just got to grab something from my locker, that's all.

You know, it's not like I'm planning to leap the fence or anything, even if that area over there is a little saggy.

[It is indeed a little saggy.]

And it's also not like I'm just making up an excuse to follow along and make sure you don't try to leave!

I'm really glad we can be so honest with each other.

Definitely. That's the best part about friendship, right?

[......Atsuro will slowly inch inside the locker room with a pained smile.]

You know, they really should fix that fence; I bet anyone could just jump right over.

Exactly!

[And Hizumi just follows at the same pace, amused.]

I guess they might want to do that soon. You know, to keep people from coming in without paying. [Because who would ever use it to jump out, right?]

Aah, if we wanted to be good citizens, we should probably report that sometime before we leave, huh?

[otakuro]

Oh! ...Hey, you're right.

[Atsuro frowns for a moment or two.]

I need to go change. Maybe you should talk to the manager or something when you're done with whatever you're doing in the lockers.

[bondsofsuffering]

Huh? No way! That would take too long!

[He shakes his head.]

I've got to leave in a while anyway, so I'd rather just let them know right before I go. Besides, it might take me a while at the lockers, too.

[sadness his last ruse penetrated. Atsuro gives a shrug as if to say 'up to you' before he heads inside with perfect nonchalance.

...It takes him a good five minutes longer than it ought to have taken him and he walks out later with a hand rubbing a bump on his head that somehow appeared for whatever reason.]

Sheesh...

...Just what did you do to yourself back there? I thought you were just going to change.

[He's just finished putting whatever it was away! Although judging by the leftover white on his cheek, it was probably sunscreen.]

[Atsuro may or may not have tried to sneak out of the locker room by slithering under the stalls.]

...Hit my head on the open locker door when I was standing up.

[Plausible.]

Anyway... I guess I'm set. ...Should we go?

[Riiight.]

Yeah! Let's see, I'm guessing you'd probably do best in the... middle pool, maybe?

[He'd been enjoying the adult pool earlier just because of the freedom it gave to swim around, but if Atsuro isn't actually that strong of a swimmer, it's probably not the best choice.]

The middle pool?

[...Atsuro glances out at the pools from their position at the door of the locker room.]

Is that the one with all of the 12-year-olds running around it?

Well, if you want to go to the adult pool, I'm not gonna complain. You can tread water, right?

[otakuro]

Is that the thing where you kind of sit there and try not to drown? I think I can do that. ...Probably.

[bondsofsuffering]

And that's why I suggested the middle pool.

Well, it's up to you! I don't know any life guard skills though, so if you start to drown you're on your own.

Fine, fine, we'll take the grade schooler pool. ...I'll grab one of those colored floaty things, even.

I'm still looking out for your health! But I can't do everything.

[Though he'll also grab a pool noodle on the way over, since it's not like they're about to do any serious swimming.]

You could at least pretend you would try and help.

[With as much dignity as he can muster, Atsuro grabs a bright orange floaty thing and hangs on tight as he marches into the pool with a grim expression. ...All he needed to complete the image was the gangplank.]

Didn't you know? It could be really dangerous for someone without any training to attempt a rescue, because they might just get in the way or even get injured by the person they're trying to save!

[He checks to make sure the coast is clear before happily jumping into the pool, sinking into the water only a bit before the pool noodle drags him up to the surface again.]

[otakuro]

It'd be totally worth it, though! My life is worth a lot; I've got the record for Donkey Crown in three arcade stores in Shinjuku!

[Atsuro is at least dignified about plummeting to his death. The skinny boy simply takes a small breath before jumping in as rigidly as a stick.]

You realize just touching the water isn't enough to drown you, right?

[Atsuro deliberately stays at the bottom of the pool as long as he can just to spite Hizumi before he slowly bobs to the top.]

...T-There, see? Exercise.

[He says as he clings to his noodle for dear life.]

Congrats, you've exercised enough to burn off a grain of rice!

[He idly kicks around a bit, pushing his own pool noodle underwater in the process.]
