The Duel Must Go On!

Who: Tournament Fighters and those who wish to watch them.
Where: Aries Arena & Televised
Summary: 10/10. A day of shooting and Persona battles.
Warnings: D-D-DUELS!

Cloudy days didn't deteriorate citizens of Hinoto-Ri to flock to the Arena that night. After all, there was a special treat promised to them, tickets at ten dollars off the usual price for a sight yet unseen!

The entire place was filled with cheering spectators and for those who missed out, the usual pay-per-view channels were going to post the entire thing live. Or you could go to your local pub. They had all come to see one thing: and it was to see how these newcomers from otherworlds fared in their favorite sport. In a way it was showing the natural pride to them, and watching how they did at it.

Gambling wasn't allowed publicly. So naturally it flourished underground. Odds today were 1:1, those looking to make a lot of money were simply out of luck. Today was a day for watching. And learning.

For those who had answered the call, prizes had been lined up. At best, it was a demonstration. As long as there was entertainment, the public really didn't care who lost or who won.

From the side ring "Jay Queen" and "Bob Sternhammer", the two ringside announcer, excitedly begin the pre-game talk.

"What a crowd today Jay! You can feel and hear the energy coming right off of 'em!"

"A stadium of Ten Thousand filled to the brim! And this ain't even the Grand Prix!"

"Can't blame 'em. Hell, if I wasn't announcing this, I'd be ringside looking at the newcomers. For those at home watching on Pay-Per-View, we're gonna remind you of the few ground rules."

"Tonight's matches are demonstration only. No returning champions, in fact, if you look to the left there, you'll see Seaside Dragoon waving at the ground. He's last year's reigning champ."

"Man they just love the guy."

"Names are drawn based on known skill. Randomization is under the supervision of the Hinoto-Ri Lotto Society."

"Contestants pick their own Evoker ten minutes before the duel, and are asked to fire a blank shot in the air to insure security before it is scanned. Contestants then are brought into their isolation zones and are kept there until they are ready to be brought up to the ring."

"Turns are taken, each allowed only one command from their Personas."

"As usual, Instant Death Spells are forbidden of usage. You may not kill your opponent. If your opponent is knocked unconscious, they have five seconds to get up. You are only allowed to attack your opponents Persona."

"Oh! Looks like the national anthem's gonna start."

There was some singing, as everyone stood up. After, the shouts became louder and louder, as a single man dressed in a tuxedo walked in, grabbing a futuristic microphone and speaking in it.

"LET'S GET IT ON!"

The crowed cheered, as a series of fireworks tore off into the sky.

"This is Bob live from the Outerworld Demo Tournament! Only on Pay-Per-View!"

[OOC- Minako vs Eikichi & Oersted vs Link will be posted as soon as both parties have submitted their titles and theme music.]

It might be interesting, to have to fight without his sword. Equipped with only the magic that this new world has provided him, he must prove his might simply using it. Oersted smirks a little in reaction to Link's call. As with the light he associates himself with, the other boy's personality seems just as bright. He dons "hope" like a cape and his steed charges down at the villain.

Oersted says nothing. He only turns, presses his Evoker to his head, and pulls the trigger just the same. The ephemeral visage of an abomination combined with the bodies and forms of several different entities: a skull-shaped demon, a giant, golden bird, a tyrannosaurus rex, a giant frog with a viper curled around it, a soldier of the Civil War wielding a gatling gun, and two martial artists. The strange form of Oersted's Persona matches Epona's attack with its own: Poison Skewer.

The viper curled around the frog lunges out at the attacking horse with its fangs baring and dripping with venom.

The strange creature doesn't seem to phase Link, who stares it down, but when it lunges at Epona and curls around her, he cries out. He can feel the venom, and he puts a hand to his chest. The pain isn't the issue here - the fact that he hurt Epona is.

Crying out in frustration, Epona stomps the ground for a Magna attack, rocks shooting up and trying to smack Oersted's Persona in an effort to shake him off.

Odio is struck by the earth. A mass of writhing flesh has difficulty in dodging. A sensation of pain flows through Oersted's limbs. Indeed, he and Odio really were one and the same. This only proved it. He musters up the energy to sidestep away from what was left of the rocks.

Magic must be fought with magic. The demonic skull protruding from Odio's mass glares down at the horse. From the skies, a single thunder bolt descends at the opposing Persona. Odio has cast Zionga.

"Gah!" Link twitches badly from the transferred pain of the Zionga, and Epona grunts in pain. It's stronger than he'd expected, and it takes him a moment to reorient himself.

And then Epona cries out in pain again. It looks like the poison stuck, and Link doesn't have anything to heal himself with - not a potion or a fairy in sight. Link struggles against it, directing Epona to rush at the other Persona again and attack with another Bash.

The swift change of attack pattern from magic to physical left Oersted unprepared. Link nor Epona seemed to prefer keeping or closing distance. Odio also seemed to react as conditions required, almost mimicking Epona. Caught off guard, the hateful Persona is struck by Epona's Bash. The force of it sends Odio flying at the ground. A force thrusts through Oersted's chest simultaneously. He grits in pain, almost falling on one knee just then. Oersted clutches at the pain and addresses Link.

"You fancy yourself as a 'hero' of your lands if your title has anything to say about it. Then don't mind me. From here on out, I'll be observing how much of the 'darkness' your light can pierce through."

The golden bird of Odio opens its beak, screeching a discordant and awful tune (if we're being generous about what to call it). It echoes and spreads all across the arena. It's casting Marakunda, a spell meant to decrease endurance. Odio edges closer to Epona.

"Geh..." Link feels the spell settle on Epona, who snorts and gallops towards Odio, preparing for yet another Bash. There isn't much he can do at the moment other than keep attacking. He feels the poison hit again, and blinks to clear his vision.

He straightens a little at Oersted's words, though. He's got to respond. And he has to respond like a Hero would. "It doesn't matter how much darkness there is! I've broken through it before and I'll do it again, no matter what it takes!"
