You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.



The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

Despite her assertations that she doesn't wear pointy hats, Misery is actually looking properly witchy today. Then again, that may have something to do with the fact she's spending more time pitching her business at the party than she is actually socializing. Looking the part certainly helps.

Notably, however, when she's NOT trying to hawk potions, she's off in the corner, staring out the window again, a cup of punch in hand. Trying to interact with people is very tiring.

There's one now, jumping up on the window sill and quietly sitting to stare at her. Maybe it wants some food?

She pauses a bit.

Mother had, despite being a witch, always been more of a dog person. Lots of dogs. It'd driven Misery nuts at the time. So needy, always wanting walks and the like. A cat, though...

She looks at it. Makes sure nobody's looking. Then she sort of... reaches out to it.

The cat sniffs at her hand a bit before gently headbutting her hand. It definitely doesn't seem like it will turn down pets, if she's offering.

She hesitates a moment and then... scritches the cat's head.

This is actually kind of relaxing.

The cat gives a purr. It definitely appreciates the scratching. However, it stops for a moment to tilt its head towards a newcomer...

"Kurou...?" Sasuke's used to the cat doing its own thing, but he hadn't expected to lose complete track of it.

[misery_hates_company]

Misery suddenly realizes there's an audience and turns away, looking back at the window. "Did you want something?" she asks, slightly testily. Is it her usual coldness, or is she just embarrassed she got caught giving cat pettings?

As if realizing the pettings have probably ceased for good, Kurou jumps lightly into its owner's expectant arms.

"...Sorry. My cat wandered off while I wasn't looking. Was he bothering you?"

Even as he is cradled by his human, Kurou's eyes are on Misery.

[misery_hates_company]

"Mildly." Which is Misery talk for "not at all." "You should keep a closer eye on him, don't you think? This town at night is dangerous enough without the spirit of the holiday in full bloom."

"He can take care of himself. I just wondered where he went." In a lot of ways, the cat was better at taking care of itself than Sasuke.

"Do you like cats, miss?"

"They're... not too obnoxious, I suppose." Misery's clearly the sort of person who can't just out and out say if she likes something.

[not_that_sasuke]

...One of those types, huh? Not that Sasuke really has that much room to complain.

"...I see. Kurou doesn't usually go up to people, so I sort of assumed..."

[misery_hates_company]

"Oh, you know what they say about 'assuming,' dearie." Oh well. "Anyway, you must be pretty bold, approaching a witch standing by herself."

"You were the one offering potions over the network, weren't you? Is that a skill all witches have?"

[misery_hates_company]

"Only the really good ones! Ho ho! Were you by any chance interested in one?" Well, you got HER attention at least. Seems like business talk perks her right up.

[not_that_sasuke]

"What kinds do you make?" Not that he likely had enough money anyway, but it might pay off to know someday.

[misery_hates_company]

"If you think of it, I can make it! In theory, anyway. Don't know until I try, right? Though I do sell some of the basics." She seems to have a very high opinion of her skill.

[not_that_sasuke]

"The basics, such as...?"

[misery_hates_company]

"Oh, you know. Healing potions, Patra stones. Little things that make battle run that much smoother. They're VERY popular." Possibly because they're the cheapest items in her inventory.

[not_that_sasuke]

"How much do you usually charge for them?" They certainly sound handy to have on hand in case of an emergency.

[misery_hates_company]

"Oh very reasonable -- for their worth, anyway," She quotes prices. They don't SEEM reasonable, but then who really knows the pricing of healing potions? (Answer: She does, and she still marks it up a bit.)

...Wow, yeah, those are expensive. Definitely not something he can afford right now.

"...I'll keep it in mind if I ever have that much to spare."

He doesn't mean it as an insult. It's just hard to put down that much money when all you've got is a part time job.
