You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.

The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

Ruri stood there in her cat outfit. She wasn't all that creative and it was just another version of the one she had before, but that wasn't too tight. That being said she doesn't look terribly thrilled to be there and just is watching with a rather bland look on her face.

A young hero clad in a green tunic and floppy cap enters the crowd. He is a totally legitimate young, green-clad hero you see because he has a bow! It may not exactly look like the type of bow this particular hero carries--it's kind of red and blue and gold-rimmed and just what up with those golden rings around his gauntlets?--but don't sweat the details okay it's The Hero.

The Hero totally has distinctly brown hair and white wings and big round ears, right?

It wasn't the first time Xion had ever been shopping, but it was the first time that the clothes were... quite like this. Except in HalloweenTown but you didn't have to shop for them. They just sort of... appeared. And even then her own coat had proved to be enough "costume" most of the times she was there.

It was very different, a place that celebrated Halloween once a year rather than a world that practically was Halloween incarnate. But it was enough that Xion felt... marginally less inexperienced. The ever-present absence of her closest friends did that enough.

Still, it was... nice, peering curiously in shop windows with Aqua. Or at least different. A better different than the scorpions had been.

Doing some last minute costume shopping? Well, you'll probably run into the two of them, doing the same thing.

Sasuke is doing his usual wallflower-but-quietly-observing thing, with only a cat mask and some dark, if plain clothes to conceal his identity. ...Not that it helps much, since he's also gotten in the habit of removing the mask at regular intervals. It's unsettling to have even just the edges of your sight blocked for too long.

Accompanying him is a black cat, who will on occasion climb onto nearby walls and railings to bat down some of the floating candy. With Sasuke's reflexes being what they are, it's not difficult at all for him to catch them on the way down. Although with the fun Kurou seems to be having at this task... Sasuke may just end up offering the candy to the nearest person.

Despite her assertations that she doesn't wear pointy hats, Misery is actually looking properly witchy today. Then again, that may have something to do with the fact she's spending more time pitching her business at the party than she is actually socializing. Looking the part certainly helps.

Notably, however, when she's NOT trying to hawk potions, she's off in the corner, staring out the window again, a cup of punch in hand. Trying to interact with people is very tiring.

Some people celebrate Halloween. Nick works it.

The problem with All Hallows Eve -- and, of course, the day immediately afterwards, Dia De Los Muertos -- are always some of Nick's busiest days. The spirits are at their most active and most mischievous at these times. It feels less like being a PI and more like a beat cop.

Not that he doesn't regret it a bit. It looked like the party was going to be a lot of fun. But he's got a responsibility -- or at least, what he perceives as a responsibility -- and he's going to keep to it.

So, uh, why is he dressed as a vampire right now? Well, there's a little loophole: The 13th Hour. He figures he can sneak in around that time, when it's just plain not safe for him to be by himself, and there we go. Could be fun!

He catches the wisp of something out of the corner of his eye. Oh boy, here we go. He follows.

Somewhere out toward the fringes of the party, there is a really awkward mother kangaroo wandering around.

Or to be more specific, someone in a really awkward mother kangaroo costume, which is strangely large. It looks more like a weird theme park mascot more than an actual outfit. And it seems to have trouble walking, given that the "baby" part seems to be more than just a prop.

In fact, if someone were to pay closer attention, they might notice that the two are bickering with each other, and trying to not draw attention to themselves. For the record, they're doing badly.

"Be quiet--!"
"I'm just saying, this didn't work the last time!"
"Yeah, well this time there's no Mega-twerp to wreck this for us! And besides, we're just supposed to be looking around!"
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to see out of this thing?!"
"Yes. Do YOU have any idea how hard it is to walk casual while trying to carry you around? You aren't exactly a lightweight!"
"Ooooh, guess your strength doesn't quite cut it anymore, huh?"
"Don't you even start!"

When Cloche arrived in the Scorpio District this afternoon, attending a masquerade party was the last thing on her mind. On the contrary, her reasons for visiting the Scorpio District are strictly practical: she wants to have a better understanding of Hinoto-Ri's layout, to view the damage caused by the Scorpio attack with her own eyes, and to evaluate the Government's relief and reconstruction efforts.

But, once she arrived in the District, she couldn't help but be drawn to the sounds and lights of the event. Cloche drifts into the crowd, hardly out of place among the party-goers in her feathery shawl, ornate headpiece, and tightly drawn bodice. She's not certain what the purpose of the event is--(Perhaps a celebration of harvest...? There are plenty of gourds around and it's the right time of year of it...)--or why the celebrants are all in costume. She is, however, certain that her own every-day clothes aren't suitable for such an event.

After some careful thought, Cloche holds her right hand above her heart and holds within her mind the piece she would like to wear. With pride, she lets out a bold cry-- "Transform!"

As soon as utters the phrase, a bright white light surrounds her--and just as quickly fades. When it does, she's wearing something completely different. Pleased with her quite literal transformation, Cloche neatly adjusts the katana at her hip to rest at a comfortable position. She then continues to walk through the crowd as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.

When Halloween spooks raise their haunted head, the heroine of love and justice appears to put them to rest! Magical Girl Pretty Cherry has arrived!

... or, maybe it's just Luca having a bit of fun. She was pleased to use one of her soulspace outfits to save that nice little holiday bonus for a rainy day. She'd never actually been to a costume party before. It always seemed like a waste, to spend so much good money on an outfit you'd only wear once a year or so. Thankfully, so many people were on the same page that there weren't a lot of costume parties on Metafalss. Not that she was invited to.

"Wow..." She scans the crowd, taking in the sights. The Pyro Jacks catch her eye. "I never thought demons could be so... cute!" she says with a smile. Cute and full of candy! Maybe she could find one with donuts?... So much exploring to do!

Ah, another party. This city sure did enjoy them. Alcor certainly didn't mind, but he'd also never quite understood the impact of All Hallows Eve. Even still, he'd tried to look the part of just another reveler. There was just one oddity.

He was actually in his human form.

Yamato was very very confused and bewildered right now.

He had only arrived to this...festival to find the reasoning for all of this commotion. Since recent events he had been more than a little twitchy of anything out of the norm, and a large festival taking place near the epicentre of the current 'Scorpio Event' as Yamato had dubbed it demanded an investigation.

Yet upon arrival here, he had almost been swept up into the crowd, with people wearing masks and formal clothing and- somehow some passing, exuberant person had shoved a mask into his hands, told him to 'get into the spirit' of it, and flounced off before Yamato could demand an explanation.

It left him quite - wrong-footed.

However, he was standing out as his maskless self, and investigation did require some form of blending in, so he reluctantly placed the mask on, trying not to fidget at it because it was uncomfortable, and pushed through the crowd to scrutinise this event from top to bottom.

Even though the large crowd made her feel anxious and uncomfortable, it didn't stop Chrome from dressing up, if only to blend in with everything. She is rather curious about this festival despite her unease, and this would be a good chance to fulfill that request she had received from the lady in the Velvet Room.

Which is why she'll be navigating her way through the crowds, quietly apologizing to anyone she bumps into as she goes to look at the stalls. And she's making sure to keep a grip on her hat, since it is a bit big for her.

There is a threatening-looking bear with fake blood on its claws and teeth shuffling around on the dance floor for some reason in a very out of character way. Investigate?

Riku is still not entirely sure how he's been roped into this - sure, it's Halloween, but given that neither Sora or Kairi are here to enjoy it with, he hadn't really had any plans beyond spending the evening by himself.

...Except that Komory Bat had appeared and flown off when he had went to get groceries and led him right to one of the costume shops. And the girl clerk there had enthusiastically announced that she had the perfect costume for him once she caught sight of his trying to scold the dream eater.

(Between her and his Dream Eaters - traitors, all of them - conspiring, he really never had a chance.)

And so Riku finds himself wearing a black suit, with a wine-red stock tie showing from where his cape is tied together. (He feels maybe slightly ridiculous.)

Komory Bat and Majik Lapin are far more chipper than him, former claiming its place on his shoulder while later hops after the nearest Pyro Jack (guess who's got a sweet tooth. Or well... even sweeter tooth than the rest of Riku's dream eaters?).

Riku himself has just resigned to mingling some - social interaction seems to be the objective of the exercise, and if it keeps his allies/pets/friends happy, then who is he to object.

Despite the whole fiasco last week, Kauya felt that Hinoto-Ri was a pretty happening place. Two festivals now, one at the beginning of the month, and one at the end. He wondered if this was a regular occurrence, then decided that if the city got hit with so much shit, then of course everyone would find a way to celebrate every little thing.

It was a good philosophy.

So here, have the Demon King, in cape and mask wandering about the festival looking amused at the antics happening - eating a whole bunch of candy of course.

After the events with scorpions going out of control, the ghost in the streets, and everything else, being able to relax for the Halloween Masquerade was the best thing Yu could have hoped for. What was even better? He had an awesome friend that could literally sew any costume ever. That was why he was currently walking around in a certain black outfit with a matching black cape and a lightsaber prop dangling from his belt. He also had a simple black mask over his eyes to keep up with the fact that it was a masquerade, but he also kept the hood up to hide his grey hair...

...you know, so he could walk around visibly geeking out over how awesome this was without being immediately obvious.

After seeing the first Pyro Jack hanging around, Yu decided to call out the one he received from Igor, letting it hang out with its friends as he walked around.

Costume parties! What better for Sasha splurge her newly-obtained payment on than bonus costumes and related widgets? She showed up wearing this outfit, not caring that the wings might have been overdoing it a bit. She'd been able to get the gown for Caroline, too, so all she had to do was deliver it. Yes, Sasha was having a wonderful time, spinning around the area, taking notes on items of interest, and generally just enjoying the atmosphere.

There is a black cloaked figure around the party and watching the Pyro Jacks have fun on their night. While she wasn't upset or anything, her costume choice...well, it was a little revealing in her eyes.

And no, she won't open the cloak.

Latooni meandered through the party in a frilly purple dress and fairy wings that she'd bought for the occasion with the government bonus. She'd figured it was an appropriate costume, and not too different from what she was used to wearing for work.

Rather than specifically enjoy the party, though, she wandered around the periphery, as if trying to see what else was going on in the Scorpio District or to get an idea of how the reconstruction was going. Honestly, she wasn't sure what she was looking for herself, but she wasn't the type to throw herself into a party, either, and 'reconnaissance' was always a good fallback for something to do.

Meetra wandered around, enjoying the food. She thought it entirely possible she was close to unrecognizable just for not wearing her robe, though just in case, she'd added a small black mask to the suit she was wearing. She'd figured that if she was getting free money, she might as well spend it on something she could wear more than once, and for some reason, the shopkeeper had insisted that a formal suit was the way to go for a blonde elegant swordswoman type.

She was still a little curious how he'd figured out she was a swordswoman.

Regardless, shesampled the local fare and observed for the moment, occasionally chatting with a Pyro Jack as it handed out food or a human(-ish) local to get their thoughts on last week's events.

This place sure did like to party, and as it turned out, Elaine happened to have the perfect outfit for the occasion: a dark number with a matching thorny crown. Guaranteed to give at least one person in Hinoto-Ri a fright. She plucked a floating candied apple out of the air as she made her way down the street.

Minato had intended to attend this since he first heard about it - it had sounded like quite a bit of fun. But after the Scorpio problems and the disappearance of someone he cared quite a lot about, Minato just hasn't been feeling up to being particular social, and so he stays home. Doesn't bother with a costume or even sneaking out to sample some of the food at the party. Just stays in his apartment, derping around.

If anyone wants to try drag him to the ball, they're free to, though he'll be a little resistant to the idea. And he needs a costume.

"Darn demons..."

As before, Atsuro had thought it would be a kind gesture to allow his demons to have some fun at a festivity. And as before, they had decided chaos was the best way to go and had promptly vanished. Deciding that they were probably socialized enough that no one would die, he shrugs and begins to mingle amongst the others, anyway.

He wears a floppy blue cap with two trailing ears, a blue jester's collar, and floppy blue pixie shoes over his normal clothing. It is evident from immediate glance that A: he is cheap and B: Jack Frosts are the best demon fight me.

It had taken Rune some time to settle on her costume, and to her credit she still looked a little uncomfortable in it. Really, she didn't know her chest was capable of bouncing and rolling like it was, even though she didn't have much of a cup compared to Chrystal, and it was something she never really wanted to find out.

...didn't mean she wasn't going to enjoy herself though. Because, seriously, floating pumpkin demons and candy everywhere? She officially loved this "holiday" thing.
