You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.



The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

"You don't know what a video game is?!"

Geeze, what was his problem.

"Whatever they are, I don't think they exist on my world."

"Y-you don't have video games in your world?!"

CAUTION: CRITICAL ANGEL ERROR IMPENDING

"Th...They... What? No! They're awesome! They're so awesome! They're like, these interactive things you can play on little computers, like-- Like shooting games! Where you have to shoot things on the screen! Pretend shooting! And... Zelda, it's... going on an adventure with a sword and a bow and stuff! And... I... I'm from a video game!"

Rune managed to resist the urge to back away from him as he began ranting, though she did lean away a little. Pit, you're going to get your crazy all over her, stop that.

"Uh... I'll take your word on that..."

Pit just looks sad. Very sad. Even his wings are drooping. "I'd invite you over to play but I don't have any consoles. They're probably all hard to buy here, too."

Beat.

"Oh! But isn't there an arcade somewhere in the city? Maybe we could go there!"

"Um... I dunno?"

Rune was very confused. Pit, people in Domes didn't know how to have fun, and the people on the frontier didn't exactly have power...

His wings stretch out -- "Ooh! Maybe we can go there for our..."

His wings fold back down. "Aheh, nevermind."

[pistolsakimbo]

Rune turned pink. "...what do you mean, nevermind?"

Nervous wing flutter.

"I-I mean that...that...Date."

[pistolsakimbo]

"Oh, right... that..."

Rune trailed off, letting out a breath.

"...Pit, it's not that I don't... appreciate you wanting to go out with me, but... uh..."

Right. Here it comes.

Pit's pretty awful at hiding his emotions, and he knows it. So he simply looks at his shuffling feet, feeling his wings fold in more than usual.

Rune let out a sigh as she saw that dejected look.

"Pit... I think you need to understand where I'm coming from," she began. "I like you, I... I really do, but... you're so happy, I don't know how to deal with that."

Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle.

"Why not?"

Because people are always saying now annoying he is. He can't help it. That's just who he is. But should he change that? Be someone else? Be more like, he doesn't know--Pittoo? Someone who acts all cool and uncaring and tough? Pittoo didn't seem to have many friends, but that was more his fault than anything. If he tried, maybe he'd have lots of friends! Lots of people who looked up to him and wanted to be like him. 'cause it must be nice, not caring about anything. Then you'd never be bothered by anything. It would be so easy...

"Pit..."

She let out a breath; how to explain this...?

"My world... is destroyed. The people that are left are either cowering in Domes, or struggling to survive," she explained. "I... try to keep upbeat, despite everything going on... but when you start talking about all these things I've never heard of and being so excited... I want to be excited to! Because I like seeing new things! But... then you act like it's some travesty that I've never heard of them, and I... just can't be excited anymore."

"...what?" His wings unfold just a bit. He looks her in the eye, his self-pity replaced with shock--and guilt.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know," he says, looking back down to his feet, clasping his hands together. "I'm always like that, though. I get really excited about things and don't always think about what I say... I guess that's why people think I'm annoying."

[pistolsakimbo]

Rune gave him a soft smile.

"It's okay. I appreciate that you want to show me stuff... but don't be so shocked when I don't know what they are, okay?"

She hesitated for a moment, before leaning over, planting a shy kiss on his cheek.

And this would be where the obligatory exclamation point over Pit's head would appear. His embarrassed response isn't as animated as one would expect, though his wings have, of course, stretched out considerably. Rune might have been hit by a few stray feathers.

"O-okay..."

Rune let out an amused noise, grabbing a stray feather and sticking it in her cowboy hat, before wrapping an arm around one of Pit's. Don't mind her as she sort of corrals you into showing her around the party.

"So, tell me about these video game things," she began. "What do they... well, do?"

"Th-they d-do a l-lot of d-different th-things d-depending on th-the genre..."

Focus, Pit. Focus.

"Like what?"

F-focus. Right. Um.

"L-like shooting games, th-they simulate...shooting things... Th-they're all on little computers, video games, a-and you play them on screens l-like television sets a-and handheld devices!"

"There are shooting games?"

You now have her interests; congratulations.

"Like what?"

"Like, umm..."

The only people who know that Pit is blushing harder than before is Pit and the person writing the narration.

"Like, um...like...my...game... B-but I'm sure they'd have some shooting games at the arcade!"

"Oh, right, you said you were from a game... how does that work? Are you like... game bits or something?"

She poked his arm curiously. Seemed solid...

Since she's holding his arm, he's a little less flushed that she's poking him.

"I dunno. I guess it's like...being from a different world? Mine just happens to be a video game."
