You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.



The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

Rune stamped her foot, fuming.

"Of course you didn't see anything! There's nothing to see!"

"Mmggg, why do I always mess this up?" he whines. He says it to himself, but Rune can hear it easily.

Rune let out an annoyed noise, rolling her eyes.

"Because you're completely clueless."

"I know," he groans.

Where's a Shrinky Bean when you need it? He'd really like to be a quarter his size right now and hide.

Rune didn't feel much better, and she was keeping her arms crossed over her chest, fidgeting on the spot.

"...so, what are you supposed to be?" she finally asked after a long moment.

"Link from The Legend of Zelda."

You might want to tell him to take his hands off his eyes.

"What's that?"

She paused, making a face; she's not entirely sure she wants him to remove his hands from his eyes. After a moment she let out a sigh, pulling out her shawl from her back pocket and throwing it over her shoulders. It didn't cover much more, but it was an effort to make it better?

"You can look now, you know."

Pit peers through his fingers. N-no, that's not much better, but at least it's not BARE BOOBIE SKIN.

So reluctantly, he drops his hands--and stares at the ground.

"I-it's a video game."

[pistolsakimbo]

Rune fought back a groan. "Stop looking like a kicked puppy.

"And what's a video game?"

[gforceinmyfaaaace]

uh oh

you can just hear the obligatory record scratch

"You don't know what a video game is?!"

[pistolsakimbo]

"Er...?"

Geeze, what was his problem.

"Whatever they are, I don't think they exist on my world."

"Y-you don't have video games in your world?!"

CAUTION: CRITICAL ANGEL ERROR IMPENDING

"Th...They... What? No! They're awesome! They're so awesome! They're like, these interactive things you can play on little computers, like-- Like shooting games! Where you have to shoot things on the screen! Pretend shooting! And... Zelda, it's... going on an adventure with a sword and a bow and stuff! And... I... I'm from a video game!"

Rune managed to resist the urge to back away from him as he began ranting, though she did lean away a little. Pit, you're going to get your crazy all over her, stop that.

"Uh... I'll take your word on that..."

Pit just looks sad. Very sad. Even his wings are drooping. "I'd invite you over to play but I don't have any consoles. They're probably all hard to buy here, too."

Beat.

"Oh! But isn't there an arcade somewhere in the city? Maybe we could go there!"

[pistolsakimbo]

"Um... I dunno?"

Rune was very confused. Pit, people in Domes didn't know how to have fun, and the people on the frontier didn't exactly have power...

[gforceinmyfaaaace]

His wings stretch out -- "Ooh! Maybe we can go there for our..."

His wings fold back down. "Aheh, nevermind."

[pistolsakimbo]

Rune turned pink. "...what do you mean, nevermind?"

Nervous wing flutter.

"I-I mean that...that...Date."

[pistolsakimbo]

"Oh, right... that..."

Rune trailed off, letting out a breath.

"...Pit, it's not that I don't... appreciate you wanting to go out with me, but... uh..."

Right. Here it comes.

Pit's pretty awful at hiding his emotions, and he knows it. So he simply looks at his shuffling feet, feeling his wings fold in more than usual.

[pistolsakimbo]

Rune let out a sigh as she saw that dejected look.

"Pit... I think you need to understand where I'm coming from," she began. "I like you, I... I really do, but... you're so happy, I don't know how to deal with that."

Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle.

"Why not?"

Because people are always saying now annoying he is. He can't help it. That's just who he is. But should he change that? Be someone else? Be more like, he doesn't know--Pittoo? Someone who acts all cool and uncaring and tough? Pittoo didn't seem to have many friends, but that was more his fault than anything. If he tried, maybe he'd have lots of friends! Lots of people who looked up to him and wanted to be like him. 'cause it must be nice, not caring about anything. Then you'd never be bothered by anything. It would be so easy...

"Pit..."

She let out a breath; how to explain this...?

"My world... is destroyed. The people that are left are either cowering in Domes, or struggling to survive," she explained. "I... try to keep upbeat, despite everything going on... but when you start talking about all these things I've never heard of and being so excited... I want to be excited to! Because I like seeing new things! But... then you act like it's some travesty that I've never heard of them, and I... just can't be excited anymore."

"...what?" His wings unfold just a bit. He looks her in the eye, his self-pity replaced with shock--and guilt.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know," he says, looking back down to his feet, clasping his hands together. "I'm always like that, though. I get really excited about things and don't always think about what I say... I guess that's why people think I'm annoying."

Rune gave him a soft smile.

"It's okay. I appreciate that you want to show me stuff... but don't be so shocked when I don't know what they are, okay?"

She hesitated for a moment, before leaning over, planting a shy kiss on his cheek.
