You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.

The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

Saiduq didn't seem to even care that he was being dragged off, just giving Kaito a curious look until he finally spit out the full sentence. Alcor's look of confusion was almost pathetic.

"...I went to sleep, and woke up with my true form. I thought you would have been pleased."

...To sleep!? For a freaking week? Okay, calm down Kaito, he doesn't know any better...maybe he didn't even know how long he's been gone.

"You've been gone for over a week! I thought something-"

At something, his voice cracks and he covers his mouth, trying to calm himself again. Thought something terrible happened, thought he wouldn't be around again...

"Is a week truly so long to sleep?"

Kaito.

Kaito he's a star.

Kaito he's billions of years old, a week is a blink of his eye.

Even still, Alcor could sense the emotion rolling off his Shining One, and sobered himself.

"...you were worried?"

From the sound of his tone (which he was trying to use properly, thanks), he was surprised by that.

Kaito tries to say something, but it comes out as a useless sputter before he can find the words.

"Of course I...why wouldn't I be worried?!"

...

Alcor gently touched his hand to his face, moving the mask up to rest on the crown of his head.

"...I didn't intend to worry you."

It's probably not a good idea to say 'I still don't quite understand your concern for me'.

That's okay, he doesn't really understand the underpinnings behind it either!

"That's not-" At that, Kaito got a little choked up before trying again. "That's not the point. I'm just glad you're safe."

Why did his insides hurt all of a sudden? It took him a moment to reacquaint himself with this sort of despair. But over one person, not the entire race? It was almost like being empty, or cold, or something similar.

He didn't know what to do and Alcor really didn't like that.

"Please don't worry so much about me. The depth of your concern is troubling."

"Well that's too bad, cuz I'm gonna worry anyway. We're friends, dude."

And part of being friends means that when one of them disappears for a fucking week, the other gets worried and probably calls the police.

It's one of those implied things, you know.

"Is this truly what friendship entails? You are upset- why would you wish to be?"

Sometimes, Kaito forgets about how much Saiduq doesn't actually know, and it always throws him just a bit. This time, though, it felt like he got a good feeling about what was confusing him.

"I don't. Nobody really does, it's just...what happens. Like, if you're suddenly gone, and the other person doesn't know what happened to you or where you went, they're going to worry because they care about you a lot."

Alcor nodded, because that part made sense, but...

"Next time, I will attempt to leave a note."

...nnnnnot the point but he's getting there.

"I do not wish for you to be upset from concern ever again. But, you know I am nigh but indestructible. You are one of the few that could bring me to an end- so you haven't a need to worry on that vein."

"That's...not why I was worried, dude."

Although, again, he's close.

By now, Alcor's just about pouting.

"Then I do not understand."

...Well. Now was as good of a time as any to ask, and...even if Saiduq didn't remember what happened after the battle, surely he must have planned was he was going to do in advance. He knew what was going to happen, right? So okay, Kaito. Be a big boy and ask.

"How, um..." Looks down at the floor, coughs, tries again.

"Before the battle, how...long did you have the idea of, um..." This...was really tough to explain, wasn't it?

"Becoming the world?"

Oh.

...

Alcor almost managed to look ashamed, pulling the mask off the top of his head and let it suck back in to his palm with a puff of black smoke.

"It was the only way to ensure your wish." That's not a time, Alcor- "Since you made your conviction known to me, then."

"No, it's okay! I'm not mad about it, it's just...I thought you, um..."

Disappeared again.

Oh. That feeling he knew well, though he should have been ashamed for it- abandonment.

"I could never leave mankind, not completely. Even if my duty is to much more- I would always do my best to be there."

Even with his smile, there's something off about how he worded that. Probably the general terms.

"I know that, but it was more the whole...'never seeing you again' part, really."

Wow when he says it like that it super awkward, hmmm.

"I was fine with what happened before, but then we got dumped here and then you were gone again, so..." Oh.

"You never would have seen 'me' again, it's true. Not as I am." It's blunt, but he's not about to sugarcoat the truth when it was what Kaito had sought so passionately.

"But, Shining One, I was everywhere. And I was with everyone. You could look anywhere and see me."

"I know that, but..."

Siiiiigh, how to explain this.

"It's not the same thing as this," With that, he put his hand on Saiduq's shoulder, making it pretty clear that humans like it better when you're able to actually talk to another person and the like.

"I mean, it's fine, I was just...surprised."

Alcor waited to see if Kaito was going to lead him around again or something, so when he didn't the star just looked confused again. It eventually eased off his face as the implication hit him.

"I know physical being is paramount to humanity, but...you use technology to communicate. What makes this different? The finality...?"

"It..." And he just sighs because Saiduq isn't really getting it. Or is he? Surely he had to have figured that "not interfering with humanity" meant "not revealing himself" which also meant "no talking."

"That's the thing: you weren't going to...I mean, I was okay with it, I was just...surprised, I guess?"
