You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.



The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

".........Kazuya, you need to take off your headphones if you're going for anonymity here."

The speaker is a boy wearing the exact same clothes he always wears, with the exception of a floppy blue cap with two long ears trailing back, an elaborate blue collar, and blue pixie boots.

...No, it wasn't that he had no artistic talent whatsoever. Jack Frosts were cute, OK?

[belfire]

"What? No way am I taking off-" Kazuya paused when he turned to his friend, his eyes squinting slightly at the outfit Atsuro was wearing. Without warning a choked snort escaped him, and he doubled over slightly, pressing his hand against his stomach.

"W-What are you wearing?"

[otakuro]

"H-Hey!" Atsuro has the shame to blush. "It's all I could come up with on short notice! ...The store was having a sale!" Grumble grumble. "It's a better effort than your mask."

[belfire]

"My mask's way manlier though," Kazuya snorted, managing to straighten up from his little laughing fit. "Heh, b-but, uh, you look very cute. I'm sure you'll fit right in with your fellow Frosts."

[otakuro]

"At least they'd appreciate me." Atsuro sighs in a worldweary manner. "I put my dr-heems and ho-pes into this, and what do I get from my best friend?"

[belfire]

"..."

Okay, that Jack Frost imitation was pretty good, Kazuya'll give Atsuro that.

"How about I buy you some ice cream to make up for it,?" he said after a pause, smiling a little. "I was gonna buy some anyway, so you might as well tag along if you want."

[otakuro]

"Ho! Sounds good. My favorite is Fudge Brown-hee!"

At some point in time, this will probably get annoying. Probably around five seconds ago. Atsuro playfully sticks out his tongue as he begins to walk down the street again.

"Nah, you don't have to do that. I've still got a lot of candy to eat - can't fill myself up before then."

[belfire]

Kazuya shrugged, looking more than a little amused at Atsuro's Jack Frost impersonation. He kept pace with his friend, and when a Pyro Jack floated by - a little hop jump and he was passed a little orange and black swirled lollipop that he happily stuck in his mouth, the little white stick the only thing visible past his lips.

"Mmm..." The lollipop was pushed to the side of his mouth so he could speak clearly; "So what've you got planned tonight? Or is it just horde as much candy as possible to gorge yourself on later?"

[otakuro]

"Hey, that's the mark of an unorganized mind there. I'm gonna spend the rest of the night divvying it up so it'll last a whole month." Atsuro nods to himself in satisfaction. "Then I'll finish it all in the first three days."

[belfire]

"I'll be sure to warn the paramedics of your inevitable sugar coma," Kazuya said dryly, followed by a loud cracking noise when he snapped his teeth down on the lollipop, crunching it to pieces almost immediately. "Anyway, do I get a Best Friend cut of it?"

[otakuro]

"Just throw me a Diarahan and I'll be good as new, ho." Atsuro gives a thumbs-up. "And no way. Where was my Best Friend cut of that lollipop just now?"

He has a feeling he'll be handed a stick.

[belfire]

Atsuro's prediction was true. Kazuya handed him the stick without a thought, grinning enough to bare sharp canines. "Did you really want to take turns to lick that lollipop? There're easier ways to get indirect kisses, Atsuro."

[otakuro]

"Aw, gross." Atsuro holds the sticky end at arm's length and scrunches up his nose. "I meant you should have grabbed one for me, br-ho. I don't want any of your weird Demon King germs."

[belfire]

"There's nothing weird about my Demon King germs," Kazuya sniffed primly, turning his nose up in the air and prancing a few steps ahead of Atsuro, his cape snapping out at the sharp movement.

[otakuro]

"It's like the War of the Worlds. All the aliens die from getting our diseases; you'll be Patient Zero of the outbreak of demonic plague." Atsuro nods sagely to himself as he flicks the little stick into a convenient trash receptacle they pass. ...He still holds his contaminated fingers at arm's length, though.

[belfire]

Kazuya looked over his shoulder, and suddenly grinned ferally. With casual movements, he pivoted on his heel and prowled back to his friend, his expression one of exaggerated, mocking-innocence.

"Aw...have your fingers got cooties~?"

[otakuro]

"I can feel them dissolving already." Atsuro replies glumly while reaching towards Kazuya's cape to wipe off his fingers. ...Honestly, they had barely touched the sticky parts.

[belfire]

Kazuya snatched his cape out of reach, throwing it over his arm and tutting at him. "No, don't do that. Wipe it on your own cape."

[otakuro]

Atsuro reaches out further, unbalancing himself slightly. He's probably just joking, though.

"Yours is the same color as the lollipop was. Mine is transparent; it'll ruin the effect if there are any smear marks on it."

[belfire]

Kazuya hissed at him, swatting at Atsuro's hand very much like a disgruntled cat. "No. Wipe it on someone else. Pretend to bump into them or whatever," he smirked, "That'd be kinda funny..."

[otakuro]

Ah, he had provoked the wrath of Kazunya... Much like an angry kitty, it was generally better to appease him. Atsuro sighs and refrains from reaching for Kazuya's cape, discreetly trailing his fingers against the wall of a building as he walks by.

"Wiping it on some guy walking by? C'mon, Kazuya, that's the lowest of the low." Another sigh, this one mocking in nature as Atsuro shakes his head. "I've lost you to the dark side..."

[belfire]

"You're coming to this realisation now?" Kazuya said, looking slightly bemused. "I'm so thoroughly lost in the dark side I've become feral and built a nest in the darkness's wilderness."

[otakuro]

"Kitty box."

Atsuro helpfully supplements.

"I don't think cats make nests, usually. I guess they kinda tamp down grass or something when they're out in the wild."

[belfire]

"Yeah, well," Kazuya frowned for a moment. "This cat makes nests. I want somewhere warm to sleep instead of a shitty grass mattress- W-Wait! I'm not a cat!"

Dammit, Atsuro! Tricking him like that...

[otakuro]

"Nya, nya~"

Atsuro pats Kazuya lightly on the head and bids farewell to the use of his left arm. It was totally worth it.
