Masquerade [Open to all]

Who: Everyone
Where: Near Scorpio's Central Art District
Summary: You all did good. Halloween is being celebrated in style.
Warnings: Nothing for the moment. Costumes?
Congratulations!

You've proven your worth to the city of Hinoto-Ri and this year the Masquerade is dedicated to you. You deserve the party, considering you saved the city from the Zodiac Monster! Besides, on the most powerful spiritual days, even the demons take a day off and enjoy a time of frightful good times with the humanoids.

The lights are all colored blue and purple, and the streets are filled with partygoers of all ages, in both fantastic and some-not-that-fantastic costumes. Pumpkins appear to be floating in the air, but once you come closer, you realize they are Pyro Jacks attending around. This is THEIR favorite holiday and they wouldn't have let it gone to waste!

Originally the Masquerade was to be celebrated around Scorpio's art center, but with the rebuilding still in process, it was moved close by, with the office of wands preparing all the charms needed. The streets need to be protected, considering the Full Moon was just a few days ago.

If you find yourself without any money, no worries! The Government has given you a bonus paycheck for your hard work last week. Costume shopping should be no problem, and the are still stores nearby selling their wears for last minute shopping!

With a small secure sector, it's sure to be an extra fantastic celebration of dancing, music and just watching both humans and demons going at it without much care. Candy is floating around thanks to the Pyro Jacks, grab something and try not to ruin your teeth. Hey, who IS that guy just passed by? Hard to tell.

After all, with these combination of Halloween costumes and a more high class masquerade ballgowns and masks, who knows is really human and who isn't?

TO THE BEE CAGE WITH YOU

Completely ignoring the strange flamboyant man who gave them an intense stare, Yamato turned and strode off the dance floor, once again focusing entirely upon his precious lollipop.

Shura guided him outside, in the decorated streets, where they would be mostly alone to talk. Even with a holiday, the curfew was still in effect, and though more crowded than usual, the streets were pretty empty once one stepped out of the protective circle set up for the masquerade.

"Ah, fresh air..."
drakenguard: (suspicious side glance)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm..."

Yamato felt a bit better now that they were out of the near claustrophobic press of bodies, and inhaled deeply, tilting his head back slightly to peer up at the sky.

"So you can only learn skills through a certain process, correct?"
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Shura says, nodding as if Yamato could see her face. "My magatamas have taught me everything I know."
drakenguard: (cool stare)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
"And how exactly do they teach you skills?" Yamato asked, fascinated by this - it was rare for him to get his hands on a friendly human turned demon. Most who go through such transformations are driven insane and not lucid enough to answer questions.

Of course, those types usually ended up on the dissection table...

"Was it through some sort of symbiosis? That is the most common type."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd say so. They can hijack my brain in some way. I have an idea of the skill they want to teach me next directly in my brain, then, when I get strong enough to please them, I suddenly know how to execute the skill." It probably sounded freaky, and it had been at first for Shura, but now it was as natural as breathing. She wouldn't be alive today without them and the skills they had taught her.
drakenguard: (smirk)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"How fascinating. I presume that they reside within you body when this occurs - most likely your brain itself. Parasitic demons like that enjoy having a strong host to feed off of, and knows that rewarding with abilities is the best incentive for it..."

Yamato appeared deep in thought, idly nibbling on the lollipop.

"...I see. You possibly had spiritual energy before you become the demon's host - it wouldn't have bound itself so well to you otherwise. Teaching you skills without it isn't outside of the realm of possibility, except that it would be harder to learn. I cannot simply zap the spell into your brain."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend whut)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you are good, Yamato. "... yes. I am host to them, one at a time, and they live at the base of my brain. My horn is actually what they perceive the world with." And being demons created by Lucifer for the purpose of turning a human into the strongest demon of Chaos, rewarding her with stronger and stronger spells, even Almighty magic, for "not boring the master", was on par for the course.

She never would have guessed she had had spiritual energy before. Then again, she was normal until the world had ended.

"Is it very difficult to learn a spell normally?" She presumes that's what you did.
drakenguard: (mildly disgruntled)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, although it depends on your natural affinity for the spiritual. Some learn it easier than others."

Yamato hummed quietly for a moment, the noise lilting up and down almost strangely. He stopped abruptly though and gave Shura a scrutinising look. "...do you speak Demonic?" he asked, suddenly switching topics.
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know if it's called Demonic, but I speak one major demon language fluently and several demon languages enough to hold a conversation." Living with demons in their natural environment encourages you to do that if you want to recruit them.

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"As you come from an alternative world, I wonder if there is a difference in the Demonic languages. Although demons come from their own dimension, it is unknown if they come from a singular source, or if there are pocket dimensions that are attached to each alternative world..."

But Yamato will stop there before he went on a ramble about the Many-Worlds Theory. He was aware that not many knew quantum physics like the back of their hand.

"Knowing Demonic helps to utilise magic, since it was born from demons - or, so it is in my world. Gods - in this case, demons - bestowed the abilities upon those with potential in spiritual things, so knowing the Demonic words for the spells you want is much easier on the caster. Of course, if you have enough skill and experience, you don't need them, but, they help speed things along, now..."

Yamato spoke in a strange, sing-songy language, the noise lilting up and down and smoothing otherwise harsh, guttural sounding words; "ᵷᶕᶉᵹ ᵿᶗ ᶓςᵹᶕȝ?"
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh the things Shura could tell you about that theory. Aside from it being true, of course.

Ah, yes, she understood that. When she answered, her accent was rougher than Yamato, but it was still understandable. "Ϡϧϩ"
drakenguard: (small smile)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yamato's lips curved into an almost little smile. "ȿʓᶋᶑ ᶃᵶ ҙԄϠ ϧᶈᵾﬥᶊ ᶕᵽᵰ ᶋᶅᶖᶉᶙ ᵹᶔϡ."

He cleared his throat, suddenly speaking in the more normal human language. "But this makes things easier. If you know the language, then half the work is already done."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend smile)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Shura smiles back at him from inside the costume. "That's good to hear. I wouldn't want to be a burden."
drakenguard: (cool stare)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hrm, yes, but don't think that this allows you to slack off," Yamato warned. "The actual learning and casting is the hardest part." Yes, learning magic (the hard way) is a lot harder than becoming fluent in an entirely alien tongue. What have you gotten yourself into Shura?
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend angry)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, I didn't plan on slacking off anyway. When fighting's involved, I'm dead serious." After all, since the Vortex, every battle had been one of survival.
drakenguard: (hmph)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good. Then allow me to set up a schedule," Yamato tilted his head slightly. "At what times are you available - or rather, when would you prefer to channel spiritual energy? With some individuals it is at its peak in certain hours of the day."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"During the day I lose most of my markings, so I would prefer we do this at night, when they're all there. I'm guessing I'm stronger then." Shura thinks a little. "Also it'd be better if we avoided the full moon. I could be stronger then but at the same time it could have a bad influence on me. I could become dangerous."
drakenguard: (Default)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Understandable. Many demons are swayed by the movements of the moon," Yamato said. "In that case I shall put aside some time in the evening for us to do some training. I will call you to tell you the times at a later date."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Shura bows and almost loses her bear head, catching it at the last second. "Thanks. Do you know what time it is now?"
drakenguard: (hmph)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yamato checked his phone. "It is almost 9pm, I believe."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm... to go back to the masquerade or not go back..."
drakenguard: (mildly disgruntled)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Go back if you wish," Yamato said carelessly, "I will now leave. I am not a party person."
demifemme: (Shura - Fiend neutral)

[personal profile] demifemme 2012-11-04 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aw, oh well. Goodnight, then. I'll go back."
drakenguard: (look at this cute bastard eeeeeeat)

[personal profile] drakenguard 2012-11-04 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yamato nodded in farewell and strode off without another word, happily focusing once more on his lollipop. Maybe he'll learn how to have fun in time for the next party.
