Please take off your shoes for the examination...

Who: Yamato Hotsuin, Ideo Hazama, and those who signed up for examinations (or who otherwise wants to get in on this if you missed it)
Where: ~~Ideo's Swank Bachelor Pad For Two (And His Sister)~~ Sagittarius Labs
Summary: Those with experience regarding demons, or are demonic themselves (or perhaps just weird), being called in to allow themselves to be prodded and poked and examined.
Warnings: You'll have to suffer from Yamato and Ideo's tender mercies.

After being subjected to the curtness of the Sagittarius Labs's chou-keshin receptionist, all those that have come to their assigned appointments will find themselves shuffled into a bland looking room, with uncomfortable stiff-backed seats and glossy out of date magazines on the small coffee table. There will also be that annoying clock that ticks just a bit too loudly and slowly for one's tastes, and that heavy silence that makes you whisper when you talk to people, even though there's no reason to.

Welcome to the Waiting Room.

After waiting for a few moments (or hours, depending on how early you came, and how delayed Ideo Hazama and Yamato Hotsuin were), you will be called in by Ceu to meet with one of the young geniuses. Prepare to be poked and prodded my friends, this is what you signed up for.

[OOC: Okay so basically we decided to do a catch all examination log, for those that are interested (as I know a few are). Me and Gaa split it up between us as well, so it's easier on us, and we can share the burden of tags. Who you will get is entirely random.

Again, only those that have experience with demons/are demonic themselves/or otherwise magical in some way can take part in this log. This is for SCIENCE]

After an uncomfortable, indeterminable time (the clock in the waiting room was always thought to be broken, honestly, with how slow it went), the door to the room opened and there was Ceu, her expression as cold as usual.

"Mister Otoha? Come with me."

She lead Otoha out of the stifling waiting room, and through a few gloomy corridors down to the lower labs below. The interior is very grim, very drab, and of course standing in the middle of the room with their back to them was Yamato Hotsuin. For once he wasn't wearing his heavy coat, and in fact had a white lab coat on. Judging by the slight movements of his shoulder, and the sound of something scratching over paper, he was writing a clipboard.

"Thank you, Ceu," Yamato said suddenly, turning around to face Otoha. Without a word, the Pixie left, and Yamato studied the other man with a critical look, clipboard tucked between his hip and forearm.

"Yosuke Otoha, yes?"

Otoha looked a bit relieved as Ceu came and got him. The drab interior didn't bother him very much. He'd seen worse, honestly. The strange lab though... it was a bit disturbing. The age of the boy surprised him a bit too, but... well. Different worlds. Whatever. He tucked his hands into the pockets of his trenchcoat as he was addressed.

... The kid could do with looking less severe, though.

"Yeah. That's me."

Yamato gave a small sniff, as if he found something lacking, but otherwise seemed apathetic regarding Otoha. He walked towards him, pausing just a few feet away from him as he gave the man a closer look of scrutiny.

"We have several people that we're examining today," Yamato said after a pause, lifting his clipboard up and looking down at scribbles. Yamato had neat handwriting, but everything seemed to be written in extreme shorthand - or a weird code. 'O* sg sep/b?'

"Care to tell us what it is that you're offering us?" They had the gist of it written down, but best to have it confirmed from the subject itself, right?

He tensed as his personal space was getting close to invaded. He forced himself to calm down and shrugged slightly.

"You asked for people who have experience with demons. I do, though not too much yet. One of my responsibilities at home is to keep the humans and the demons from killing each other, and taking care of sick demons."

Yamato ignored the tension in the other man, turning and walking away a few paces. "Taking care of sick demons? Interesting."

Although his words were flat and sounding decidedly uninterested, he was scribbling a lot on his clipboard. Seemed his attention was snagged for now. "What type of demons existed in your world? Were there any similar to what you have seen in Hinoto-Ri? If there are differences you may have to fill out forms describing the species of demons from your own world."

Especially as monsters from the other worlds were beginning to appear here. It would be nice to have the information on hand in case they cropped up here. Easier to manage.

"The ones I know by name were Amefurikozo, Kappa, Wanyudou, Tsuchigumo, Kamaitachi, Ushi-Oni, and Nue. All but the last one were mikura, which are demons that have been changed with machinery. I think they were an invention of the last person with my job, though I have no idea. There were a lot of other demons too, though. Some of them were animal-based, but a lot of them were stranger. I didn't have a lot of time with them."

If his yurine were here she would be able to help... but he'd only had the role of Karas for a few weeks at the most.

Nue? Hm, so that existed in his world...

Yamato turned back to Otoha, his pen stilling as he gazed at the man with open interest now. "Machinery? Elaborate on that."

Explaining stuff was definitely not his strong point. He looked thoughtful for a moment, trying to decide how to explain.

"I don't know how he did it, but Eko merged some of the demons loyal to him with machinery. Somehow it let them show up in the human world instead of being usually invisible like most demons are. They could change between human and demon forms - well. Most of them. Kamaitachi didn't. They could also change into other things, too - Wanyudou changed into a car."

... Then again, he did too. So yeah. There's that.

Yamato stared at him.

"...I see," he said after a pause, obviously sceptical, but willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. He had seen truly strange beings in Hinoto-Ri, so for all he knew, it was possible. Hell, there was a living star floating about.

"How fascinating, if it's true..." Sure, in his world, the spiritual and the digital were beginning to mesh, with the Demon Summoning App, and the towers being used to project the Dragon Stream Barriers, but they had been nowhere near the levels of merging demons with machinery - at least, not to the point of one shapeshifting into a car.

"What changes did that bring to the demons in question? Did it affect their sanity? Boosted or lowered intelligence?"

"It's true. I'd show you my own transformations, but without my yurine I can't do them. But as for their sanity... I didn't know them before. Nue was pretty sane, but the rest of them were definitely not. I have no idea if that's because of them naturally, the machinery, or being the sort of creatures who would go along with Eko's plans."

Basically, he has no fucking clue.

Yamato tutted, finding himself a bit disgruntled. This sounded extremely interesting - if it was true, the possibilities of merging demons with machinery were endless... but sadly he had to make do with his shaky information source. Hn, he'll just make to squeeze every bit out of him.

"Your own transformations? Elaborate on that and 'yurine'."

"The yurine is the will of the city. She picks someone to defend the city from any threats that it runs into. That person is the Karas. Eko was the one before me, but he decided to try to wipe out humans because they wouldn't believe in the demons, so she picked a new one. Anyway, the Karas has a bunch of powers, including a few different forms - an armored knight, a jet, and a car."

His voice was totally deadpan while he was saying this, too. "The Karas' soul is locked in a treasure she gives them, and they can only use their powers when she allows them to."

'y^->ka. E|b/f hste hm. a/b. ka = xfrm. sg sep/b cfm.'

Those were the notes that Yamato scribbled down as Otoha spoke, his eyebrows furrowed together slightly in obvious thought.

"So, essentially, you have a form of contract with this Yurine. A will of the city, mm, I wonder if it is a ley line that evolved into a sentient entity..." he murmured, pausing his writing to look up at the other. "So your soul exists outside of your body, does it? Explain how, if you can."

"I guess, though I didn't have much of a choice in whether I said yes or no." She wouldn't have picked someone whose soul would refuse, though...

"... I don't know. It just does. It's in an amulet. I hadn't run into anything even vaguely spiritual before I died, and even after I came back I wasn't doing this job long before I got dragged to a city like this one."

Yamato looked faintly disappointed. It was hard to find stable subjects of humans whose souls safely exist outside of their bodies. They usually went insane, or died, or mutated into some horrific abomination. He tapped his pen against the clipboard in thought.

"Let me ask, how do you feel? Have you encountered any negative effects with your soul existing outside your body?"

"Not at all. It doesn't seem to affect me at all. I spent about a year in Vatheon like this and it didn't seem to change, either."

Then again Vatheon was weird... but it'd still cause effects if it was a problem, right?

Yamato blinked. What?

"Vatheon?"

"A city that pulled people from different worlds like this one does. There's someone else from there in this city, too."

"So there are two dimensions that do this...?"

Yamato scrunched up his nose in thought, tapping his pen against the edge of his clipboard as his mind churned into overdrive. This was...very very interesting.

"Tell me everything about Vatheon."

"It was a city under the sea, surrounded by a bubble. The locals worshiped a coral as their god, and the coral restored your energy if you touched it. There were 'curses' sometimes - at first we thought it was the coral itself, but later we found notes from scientists that suggested it might be their doing. Different stuff would happen - sometimes it'd be personality-based, sometimes your body would change. A few times people swapped powers. There was an elevator up to an island, but aside from that there wasn't any real idea of where in the world it was - if it was any world any of us would have recognized."

Hmm... what else...

"It was pretty peaceful, aside from the curses, actually."

"Hm..." Yamato pressed the end of his pen against his lips, his eyebrows scrunching together out of severe thought.

Vatheon; another dimension that sucked in people from multiple worlds. It sounded vastly different from Hinoto-Ri though. A giant coral, under the sea, curses...? Strange things happened here, but thankfully nothing to the extent of changing bodies or personalitie-

Well, that Scorpion event, but they hadn't had a repeat of that yet.

"This is very interesting information you have given me..."

He guessed. It wasn't like he was very science-minded, so he didn't really know what to do with the information. He just sat quietly, waiting for Yamato to finish with whatever he was thinking of and tried not to fidget too much.

"Hm...I'm still interested in your soul existing separate from your body," Yamato said, "But you don't seem to know much about it yourself. Would you be willing to come back at a later date when I have the sufficient equipment to test it?"

"That's fine." At least it wasn't him being called a freak for various other things. Honestly, it was a relief. "Just let me know when."

"I will call you in for a new appointment," Yamato smirked a little. "But in that time... please don't hesitate to explore the limits of your abilities, or note anything peculiar. Write it down. Ah, hold on, I need to give you some forms as well. I want to know more about those mechanical demons, so fill out as much information as you can about them on them."

He flipped through some of the papers on his clipboard, and tugged some free, holding them out for Otoha to take.
