What: Closing Arena Ceremonies, Part 2
Where: Aries Arena & Televised
Summary: 1/24/10AC
Warnings: This could get serious...but who knows.
Finally it was time for the mayor, Kazuki Sakahagi, to speak up. Not even an thirty minutes left to the celebrations, but seeing him go appeared to be lighting up a spark in the citizens. It wasn't too hard to see why; his enthusiastic grin and way of walking could easily melt anyone's worry away.
He walked to the center stage as cheering broke out, two men in black and Junko Tanako behind him.

In a flash, the treasure hunter had his twin daggers out as Phoenix rose up behind him in fiery anger. The two began to close the distance between themselves and the masked man, hoping to catch his attention before he tried to escape.
"Hey, coward, care to dance with someone face-to-face or is that too much for ya?"
no subject
Worry not, he had no intentions of escaping if the hunter was going to start a fight. Spades reached towards his belt and pulled a saber out from a sheath hidden by his trenchcoat, leveling it towards Locke.
"You'd call me a coward then?" There's a taunting tone to his voice, and he doesn't just wait for Locke to approach; he lunges, swinging the saber in a wide arc towards his opponent.
no subject
"You are a coward! You shot a guy while his back was to ya, he didn't even have a chance!"
He had to get a hit, at least one! For the dead if not for himself. At least the man didn't seem like he was going to run from him.

Hitsuji is between Locke and Spades in a flash, elegant white wands held up to block the daggers from reaching their destination. Beneath her small red mask her eyes begin to glow, and she sends a physic shove to send Locke stumbling a few feet back. Definitely tame compared to what she can do, but she wasn't supposed to cause death if she couldn't help it.
no subject
"Sure he had his chance! You saw 'im lunge at Gemini like the gob he was."
He sliced the air in front of him as he stepped to Hitsuji's side just slightly, only so he could see Locke more clearly as he leveled the sword at him again.
"For example, if we cut you up, that wouldn't be cowardice. You jumped first."
no subject
He gained enough sense to pause and regain his footing, glaring between the two of them.
"If you can cut me up, then you're right, but that doesn't excuse what you did; that wasn't your fight, but this one is!"
As quickly as he could, he muttered through the words for a firaga spell that shot from his body and aimed right for two Anoli. He dashed forward again, hoping to get a hit in through the distraction of the spell.
no subject
She points one of her wands straight at Locke and fires a strobe colored magical shot towards one of the less vital points of his body, attempting to hold to their decision not to cause any deaths.
no subject
"He attacked an Anoli!" Spades chimed, teleporting away from the fireball and behind Locke, swinging the saber guard of the saber around to knock Locke in the side of his head.
"That's as good as attacking all of us."
no subject
He was so focused on the girl he didn't realize the masked man was behind him until it was too late. Before he could even turn there was a sharp pain to the side of his head that caused him to cry out and crumple to his knees.
The great firebird over head screeched and dove down, attempting to perform Mirage Dive now that it could, in an effort to defend the man currently trying to stop the ringing in his ears.
no subject
She can't help but laugh, whole body shaking with excited adrenaline. Never had she ever felt more accepted and liked than when she joined with these people, and you're damn well sure she would protect them
especially a certain twoto the end.Hitsuji flies into the air to hover between Spades and the firebird, hand reaching out to rip a chunk of the concrete out from under Locke (hopefully with some damage to him as well) to throw straight at the monster. She wasn't afraid of this thing even a little.
no subject
Histuji had the firebird plenty occupied, so Locke wouldn't see any reprise like that. Spades turned and swung his legs around, kicking Locke square in the back with the full fore of a roundhouse kick.
The next word out of his mouth are laced with all the poison you'd expect from a man who'd just murdered in cold blood.
"In fact, holding back would be cowardice."
no subject
This wasn't how it was supposed to go...this was supposed to be different. Kefka's maniacal grin as he'd burned the treasure hunter alive, that faceless creature with it's tentacle arms showing Locke exactly how weak he truly was, the feeling of that clawed hand tearing through his stomach...those were his failures. All that time he'd spent in Bete was supposed to have made him stronger than that!
Locke coughed, trying to regain his breath enough for one more spell, this was his last shot. He pulled himself upright and raised a hand, unleashing one of the strongest spells he had. Holy illuminated the area as pure white light burst towards it's target.
But that was it for Locke, the spell took too much out of him and his arm couldn't hold his weight anymore. Phoenix dissipated along with the treasure hunter's strength, leaving him defenseless. Holy was his only shot.
no subject
"Hey!"
no subject
He wasn't able to avoid all the damage, but outwardly, it seemed all that had accomplished was singing his coat.
When the attack dissipated, he joined Hitsuji on the ground. "Looks like he's down for the count," He commented, kneeling down next to Locke and lifting him up by the pack of his shirt.
"Dirty tricks? Now who's the coward?"
no subject
He winced when the man pulled him up and he did his best to send as scathing a glare as he could.
"Sometimes you have to be tricky...to beat a trickster.." In a futile attempt to try and land an actual hit, Locke brought his fist up and aimed to punch right in the asshole's jaw. He wasn't brawny like Sabin or Edgar, but he wasn't just going to give up, not while he could still move.

"Pop his arm and let's get outta here; he's not gonna be followin'."
no subject
This was really going to hurt...but he didn't regret trying.
"If you're gonna do it just get on with it." He grit his teeth and closed his eyes.
no subject
She digs one heel into the small of his back for support and tugs hard on his arm, expression glowing with sick glee at the gross popping sound it produces. Hitsuji shoves him forward hard when she's done, not caring where he lands.
"Lead the way!"
no subject
"Nice meetin' ya, Captain." He brought two fingers to the side of his forehead in a half-salute, half-waving the near-crippled man goodbye. With a quick wave of his hand he motioned for Hitsuji to follow, and picked up his feet as he ran off.
no subject
Even after they were gone, their voices still rung in his mind, taunting him and the fact he'd failed again. Desperately, he wanted to chase after them...but he could barely sit up between the pain and exhaustion, much less walk. He'd completely screwed up.
no subject
Right now, Selphie was far from thinking about herself. Just ahead of her she spotted a collapsed body shape but, as she got closer, it looked more and more like Locke, and she rushed herself over to the shape, just wanting to see it move or, better still, prove to be someone else.
no subject
Out of the corner of his eye he saw movement and turned his face to see Selphie, rushing towards him, scratched and clearly still fighting. It sent both relief and a pang of guilt through him; where was his strength in the face of hers? He'd hoped she wouldn't see him like this.
no subject
Carefully her wide eyes met his, tears rapidly forming there. “Where are you hurt most...? Lie down, I‘ll help you.“ She couldn‘t look at him anymore, not if she had to keep calm to heal him.
no subject
"They dislocated my shoulder. Ribs might be cracked." He didn't really know, all he knew was that everything hurt and he wanted to comfort the woman beside him.
He reached up to brush her cheek, only glancing at her to do so. "Hey...don't cry. No need for that." His body would heal.
