Finally it was time for the mayor, Kazuki Sakahagi, to speak up. Not even an thirty minutes left to the celebrations, but seeing him go appeared to be lighting up a spark in the citizens. It wasn't too hard to see why; his enthusiastic grin and way of walking could easily melt anyone's worry away.

He walked to the center stage as cheering broke out, two men in black and Junko Tanako behind him.

Spades turned to look at Kais when his attention was called. It was impossible to gauge his reaction from his face given the various coverings, but his demeanor was remained as dissonantly relaxed as it had always been throughout all the chaos.

"Really? That was prob'bly the most underwhelming line I've heard from anyway today."

He is very much not putting his hands up right now.

Kais didn't have any motive aside from wanting to prove himself a little better than everyone around him. Everyone else seemed to jump straight to violence but...

"I just wanted to give you the freedom of choice."

And he pressed the firing stud, blue plasma bolt shooting from the rifle.

The young girl snorts with amusement, and the two of them are out of the line of fire in a flash. Of all the people they had fought today, this guy certainly seemed like a little fish in a big pond.

Her two wands come to point at Kais, one shooting a large hole at his feet and the other aiming for his chest.

He was definitely never going to get tired of this telekinesis stuff.

After Hitsuji fired her shots, Spades teleported in to the side of Kais, swinging his food up to strike the hand that was supporting the rifle.

"In that case, I'll give you the choice to run for y'life before you hurt yourself!"

Kais danced back to avoid the shot coming for his feet, the other intercepted by a shimmering blue field emitted by his shield drone. Unfortunately, that was enough to short it for the moment.

That and his rifle now flipped into the air, Kais never exactly good at melee combat.

Underneath his helmet, he gritted his teeth, knowing he wasn't exactly anywhere near on level with these two people. In fact, it was enough to make him mad enough to just bunch up his gauntlet and take a wild, untrained swing at Spades.

The girl reaches one hand out, psychically stopping Kais' hand mid-swing and painfully forcing it back down to his side.

"I think that might have been a 'no', Spades."

YOU KNOW WHAT

Hitsuji had already stopped Kais' swing, so Spades was free to teleport up in the air a bit and catch the rifle that was no flying in the air, landing back down a foot away.

"One of the most vocal rejection's I've heard, that's for sure!"

He was smart enough to know it would probably take him some time to figure out how to fire the rifle, so instead he flipped it around, grabbed it by the barrel, and opted to swing it down smash it over Kais' head instead.

Physical hits, even when wearing a helmet, suck. It's there to keep him from dying to a bullet but concussions were still a real thing.

With that loud gong, he certainly wasn't going to be getting up for a few more minutes.

The girl takes the opportunity to pick Kais up with her magic, tossing him into the stands nearby for an extra 'oomph' of pain.

"I'd give him maybe a 3/10 for this attempt, what do you think?"

DAMN RIGHT YOU DIDN'T

"Huh. That was easy."

Spades almost sounds baffled, but he nevertheless tossed the rifle off to the side. He at least didn't have any use for sniping tech.

"Mmm, 3 for the attempt, 2 for the execution. They need to learn to do their research."
