Farewell Happy Fields!
Farewell Happy Fields!
☯
What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.
Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).
So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.
---
Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...
There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.
By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...
[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!
You may all start your threads and mingle!]

Apparently. >:
"So you were there... I wasn't sure," he replied softly. He had faint images... the fog rising, something soft enveloping him, keeping him safe from anyone else that would try to lay claim to him... Death had saved his life; it was strange to think about it, but at the same time he couldn't be surprised.
He reached up again, fingers gently brushing her hair back in a fond gesture before he could stop himself. Seriously, where had that come from?
"...thank you."
8(
"Only briefly." A flicker of annoyance crossed her expression when she said it before it faded completely. Oh, how she wanted to welcome those children into her realm... also tell off the interrupter of that conversation for believing she would reveal herself so public a manner. Still, those words of gratitude.
"Do not thank me, child... I was merely taking care of the souls who had run out of time in the same vicinity."
...When she felt her connection with Izanagi waver and would not have that again. Even if it meant they would be reunited with her brother, Narukami leaving the Amagi girl and his other friends? Really, representative?
At least that is the story she would share with the children. Who knew if it was truth or not? What is accepting gratefulness

"I have to thank you," he said softly. "You were there doing what you're meant to do... and I was nearly one of those people you would have needed to lead to rest."
He had remembered that blinding pain when he was hit... he could literally feel his blood boiling, radiating around where he had been hit. He remembered feeling his limbs seizing up, muscles and organs refusing to cooperate. The fact that he had managed one attack, however weak, was a miracle.
Yu should have died.
"So... please," he continued, his voice soft. "Accept my thanks."

"..." There was something there, something just beyond the surface she was not going to explain... maybe she did not need to, considering the kind of injuries he'd sustained. "...I was a goddess of creation before I was known more for my own demise," she admitted, gently pushing the hand away. "A protector."
She sighed. Consider it accepted, child. "I only wish to provide happiness for those of Japan. Yet how can I, when my representatives place themselves in a position in which they cannot overcome just yet?"
...Wait, was that concern.
no subject
"None of us really knew what to expect," he admitted. "We went there anticipating a fight. We got a war dropped on us."
He let out a breath, gazing up at the fog that surrounded them.
"...I guess it should have been obvious that something else was going on to prompt all that," Yu finished with a faint sigh. Kind of failed at anticipating how stupid humans could be there...

"This world has been at war with itself long before even the Seven arrived, Narukami... It was an inevitability, especially with the ego the current mayor has nurtured in his time of 'power'."
If he were to expect her to agree with him, he would be right. However, there was something that flashed in her red eyes when he mentioned it. Even more so when she could read his own state of mind so clearly in this fog.
"So you would lose faith in humanity of this world due to one man's idiocy? You, who worked with the ones you call friends?"
Yes. Yes she was calling a few of them out. Especially Yosuke and Kanji. That is how incredulous she is of the words her representative of hope is speaking.

...he also should have anticipated that Izanami would be able to get a clear read on him while in the middle of her own realm. He let out faint noise, rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's one thing to see your friends deny themselves and then work to accept and improve themselves," he began. "It's another to see someone deliberately bait an attack, relying on people from scattered worlds whom he barely knows to be their defense."
He let out a breath. "...we were horrifically outnumbered, and we had no idea it would be that bad. It's... difficult to be forgiving of someone that willfully put others in danger like that."
Yu paused again, and... realized that yeah, he probably would forgive the idiot mayor eventually. Just like he forgave Namatame... and in a small way, Adachi; and of course, Izanami. He was already beginning to doubt his annoyance with the man; was it right of him to hold a grudge against someone when he wasn't from this world? Ugh...
"...sorry, I'm not making much sense."
no subject
"Indeed it is. However, can you truly say your friends have not attempted to bait another to attack them?" Because she could remember clearly the facts behind one of their kidnappings, at least. It had been the talk of the town, much like the others. Not to mention... a battle that took place in the real end of this realm. One that he does not yet recall.
"Yet you have forgiven others... though I cannot say your anger is unwarranted." If he hadn't noticed, she was rather angered as well. there still lingered a faint hint of an electrical charge in the fog. "Do not apologize for emotions you have not been able to sort through. ...Apologize to those who must watch and wait for you."
You made Yukiko break down, okay. She will not forgive you so easily for having to attempt to help comfort her. What is comforting, anyway.
no subject
"Yeah… another thing I have to thank you for…" he murmured faintly. He had heard Yukiko's suffering in soft whispers, but he hadn't been able to do a damn thing about it, and it was his own fault. But was he supposed to do? Let her take the hit instead? He couldn't do that; he cared for her as a friend -- more than that…
Speaking of…
"About emotions I need to sort through… we need to talk."
no subject
"She is one of the few who ceased in the skepticism to listen... It was the least a god could do." In other words, don't fret over it too much. Though, that last comment made her raise an eyebrow.
Oh dear.
"Walk with me, then." And do not fear Death for this brief time, nor the voices of society.
no subject
"...I'm conflicted in my feelings toward you."
He needed to get this sorted out already; the emotions he felt anytime she was around was... troubling to say the least. His Persona obviously had a lot to do with it, and he couldn't be afraid to have Izanagi around or summoned or anything, just because he didn't know what the hell to do about this.
no subject
"Are you, now." Odd, she nearly seemed amused. Izanami didn't even seem to break pace as they spoke. It was as though she were waiting for him to continue before stating anything.
no subject
"When you're nearby… it's much like when I'm with Yukiko, but… different," he began, a bit of an awkward hesitance in his voice. "I feel like I can do just about anything if I just reach out and hold on to you."
He's not ignorant, he knows what a feeling like that is called, but toward Izanami of all people?
"…I don't know if it's really me that feels this way," he finished softly. "The line between myself and my persona is blurred when it comes to you."
no subject
In all, most humans seemed to feel that way (however deluded that belief may be, she thought) whenever they grew closer to a god. That was not so surprising. What was, however, was the way he interpreted it. What it meant to him.
...It was time to draw a new line, no matter how painful it would be.
"Child, I am a god of death. One who, in your future, shall try to claim simply not just your life, but those of your friends." She raised an eyebrow. "Would you truly risk those bonds for one?"
Leaving that question in the air for a brief moment, she continued.
"Connecting oneself to one who has already passed on, yearning for the departed, does not lead to happiness.... but suffering and anguish for the living." Izanagi knew that better than most. "You, and the Mask you bear, were meant to live on in their stead. To live life as you see fit."
no subject
He stopped then, turning to face her finally. He remembers that vision of the future that was shown to him, and all the pain and suffering that was associated with it. It had hurt more than he could describe to see his friends falling one by one, not to mention the breathless pain he himself had suffered. But if anything, it made him more curious of the goddess; why she did what she did, what was in it for her, and what did she learn from everything? He wanted to know it all, as well as make sense of the massive bucket of emotion that came with it.
"Even right now, I just want to hold onto you," he replied softly, his hands coming up like he was going to cup her face but he somehow managed to restrain himself. "It doesn't make sense to me, and the only way I'm going to be able to keep going forward is if it stops already."
It took a supreme amount of effort, but he forced his arms to drop. He wanted to say that forging a social link with her just made things worse, even at the first stage, but he didn't want to reverse it either... He didn't know what he was supposed to do.
