Ahh Autumn. The time for harvest, and the normal national holiday that falls on the 24th and 25th. Demons? Angels? Magic? Well nothing's been put on pause, but even the Anoli need to relax once in a while...

With that free time, what's a newcomer like you to do?

Well Hinoto-Ri has much to offer! As they seem to be the only standing city in...well, anywhere, they've tried to merge and adapt as many festivals around the world as they can.

Ergo this Fall festival is a mixture of everything the world could offer. Corn on the cob, Pumpkins, Yaki Imo (Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes), Ramen stands, Falafel, caramelized apples...

A giant dragon is tied down in the middle of the waters. At night, you can see a few pixies hover close to it, keeping other monsters at bay. The streets have been decorated as well.

But most importantly, the upper Virgo Ward has been turned in a giant festival area...even more so than usual! Now the millions of stalls don't just try to sell things to you, they sell things to you thematically with this fall! Giant pumpkins and fresh produce made in Libra and Capricorn..did you know that Capicorn has an amazing giant apple orchid, protected by the office of Wands and Swords? Try out some free samples! One taste is enough to convince you that having Persona to irrigate the fields ass a crispness to the fruit..right? Winter outfits...hats are in this year! Listen to some of the new music groups, and get pumped for the upcoming movies!

There is giant mooncake in the middle of all the tents and stalls. Don't worry about the money! Everything's free today! It is a time for sharing and family and...

...being thankful for what you have. No matter how small it might be.

For a city of survivors, Hinoto-Ri is certainly trying to have a good time.

Honestly, all of the god nonsense that was running around that week was just kind of confusing to him.

"Oh, right." Plenty of time for that whenever another dang crisis popped up, right? "Pretty good, actually! It's kind of amazing how a weird city like this has a normal festival... Or, relatively normal. After all the stuff that happened when we first got here, it's kind of a relief."

[otakuro]

"I think they're trying hard for our sake. ...Though maybe they could've asked one of us for advice." Atsuro glances around and scratches at the back of his head a little. "The dragons are more of a... Chinese thing, right? And what's with the orange melons everywhere?"

[hetried]

"Maybe it's some kind of weird cultural integration thing..." He touched his chin thoughtfully as he looked over towards the giant dragon. Daichi thought it was pretty cool, OK!

"Assuming other people could come in here I guess...maybe they were inspired by a demon? Or customs just kind of evolve all weird if they're closed in like this..."

[otakuro]

((Sorry to keep you waiting! I've been out of town on hiatus for the last week. Feel free to drop if you'd rather not go on.))

Atsuro ponders on this for a moment. "...I guess if you think about it, you could say that most everything in our culture is inspired by 'demons'. I mean, I'm sure our moon watching festivals have something to do with celebrating Tsukuyomi. The dragon is self-explanatory, and I think the western Halloween is all about the demons."

[hetried]

((No worries! c: I should be apologizing for being kind of slow on average, haha.))

"You mean where they go dress up and ask for candy and stuff?" See, he knew some vague stuff about western culture! It's not like he failed his English class at least!

"Huh... I never thought about that I guess. Even over here, we have all kinds of ghost stories and urban legends; maybe those are all true and it was actual demons going around causing trouble."

[otakuro]

English and driving! The two most important useful skills in life, bar none! Daichi is pretty much set for the future, honestly. Atsuro has only really heard of Halloween in regards to something along the lines of 'American cosplaying'.

"I bet our demons would say so if we asked." Atsuro nods in agreement. "...But maybe it's the opposite. It's weird that all of these demons match so closely to what we've got in our legends, right? There might be things out there that just end up taking these forms because it's convenient. They might not even be conscious of it."

[hetried]

Yeah, tell that to his teachers. They'd probably hardly believe he passed the entrance exams.

"You think some of the Demons act or look like they do based on our own stories?" Hmm... that was kind of freaky in a way, but he could buy it. "Heh, I'm sure it'd be easier than explaining what they are to normal people. Maybe it's both?"

[otakuro]

"Hah, yeah. Sorry for getting all philosophical there." Atsuro glances back towards the dragon. "Thinking about it too much is probably only any good for getting a headache. We're just supposed to be here to have fun, right?"

[hetried]

He chuckled, waving his hands a bit to gesture there was no problem. "Nah, it's cool. Most of my friends have talked about philosophical stuff like that, I'm just not very good at it myself. Just the back-up NPC, remember?"

[otakuro]

"Hey, at least you've got more lines programmed than 'Welcome to Hinoto-Ri'." Atsuro's grin is broad. "I'm not really good with the angels-and-demons stuff, either. I think part of me is still trying to get over the fact that this is all real."

[hetried]

"Haha, true! Maybe I'm supposed to be one of those interactive tutorial ones."

The next laugh was a bit more awkward, but luckily grins were contagious! "Me neither. Heck, I'm still waiting to wake up from all of these and learn it was a dream."

[otakuro]

"You know, those guys don't get enough credit." Atsuro muses. "Think what the heroes would do if they never learned how to use their inventory. It'd be a total disaster."

Gaming jokes aside, the topic of discussion probably wasn't so easily shrugged off. ...Then again, maybe shrugging it off with jokes was the right way to go.

"Yeah, that's what I think every morning when I wake up. Then the baku next to my bed thanks me politely for giving him such nourishing dreams and floats out the window."

That was probably one of said jokes.

Humor was the best way to deal with the aftermath of life-changing and potentially traumatic experiences, wasn't it?

...Well either way, Daichi was still snickering. Maybe later he'd realize how weird that was. "I guess I'm lucky mine mostly just want to be an alarm clock. Still, it's a cheap way to feed them...!"

[otakuro]

Only when your humor doesn't make everyone wish they hadn't survived the trauma. Though Atsuro likes to think his is marginally above that standard.

"Heheh. ...You know, I think I'm gonna go check out the stands over there and see if they've got any hot drinks. Maybe I'll bring Kabuso back out if he behaves."

[hetried]

"I'm pretty sure bribing a demon is the best way to get them to pay attention, so that's probably your best bet, heheh."

Thankfully Daichi still had his apple, which he went ahead and took a big bite out of-- and, thankfully finished chewing before he replied again. "Let me know if you need any help getting anyone into time-out, alright?"

"What, you don't think I was handling him on my own?"

He totally wasn't.

"Aha, sure, thanks! Have fun with the rest of this!"
