Science. Science and the inquiring mind has kept humanity on the path of progress for hundreds of thousands of years. What could make science rule harder?

A science showcase, of course! What better way spark the curiosity of the young and old by showing off the scientific achievements of the community. You have your things for the kids, your potato batteries and baking soda volcanoes and what-have-you, you have your higher-brow showcases of what the Department of Wands has been working on, your informative panels delving into biology, physics, chemistry and astronomy. There's even free food, including some molecular gastronomy creations for the...adventurous. There are even topics your average Visitor wouldn't think fell under the realms of science.

Such as? Why, like how Personas work (with explanations that aren't just "It's Magic") or discussions about demons, where they might come from, how they're different and similar to humans, how they use magic, and so on.

What kind of things will you and your friends discover? Perhaps you or someone you know is setting up an exhibit?

Regardless, enjoy the science fair and have fun!

[Zoe has always been curious about science and such, thanks to being brought up in a magic-based household, so when she heard that something like this was going on, she just had to come and investigate. And stare at everything with a look of complete curiosity.

Which means she'll be examine pretty much every display and listening in to any panel that she comes across, even the really silly ones. Hey, she thinks it's interesting.]

[Miyako knew about some of the topics in the expo. Her educations covered most of the topic, so she gravitated towards the booths about subjects she knew less about, particularly Personas.

She knew the basics, but an indepth explanation was always preferred.]

VIRGO WARD, 6-10 EARLY EVENING [OPEN]

[He woke huddled like a vagrant in the doorway of a shop that must've just closed or was out of business, since the lights were off and no one was around. The air smelled different, not as crisp, the salt of the ocean non-existent. But hadn't they just been on the Vono Islands? When had he blacked out?

Blinking away the heaviness in his good eye, Yurick got to his feet and stepped into the street, slowly feeling confusion give way to shock. All these lights, the strangely smooth black roads... what was this place?

His chest tightening in apprehension, he took stock of his surroundings, the glitter of moonlight and city-light on a broad river not far from where he'd awoken. He drew his father's dagger, holding it tightly in one hand, the start of a spell awaiting his mental order to begin charging, and made his way down toward the water. From there, he turned right and began to follow the flowing span, wanting to call out for his comrades and yet not wanting to draw attention. Who knew what monsters lurked in this strange place?]

[And, some yards ahead, there's a sudden flash of dull white light. It's mostly a dot really—small but noticeable, and blooming into life like a firework until a body materializes out of the fading luminescence. Zael's.

And Zael, startled and disoriented, abruptly finds himself falling again, plunging downward at a far more merciful distance than he had been only moments before. He plunges into the river with a startled, abrupt yelp. He sinks below the surface for a few seconds, but swims to the surface again. The river's body, at least, is calm and far different from an upset ocean.]

Nani Naze Nadesico Booth - Phase Transposition Engines - Leo Ward

In the Leo ward there is one booth in a bright and colorful stand, the kind that would probably attract a 5 year old. There is Ruri, dressed as a small girl in orange and her persona, which is dressed up in a rabbit costume, and they're explaining the Nadesico's phase transposition engine.

And of course sitting with the rest of those 5 year olds is an excited Tachikoma. This expo is full of information and she's gleefully absorbing everything Ruri says with a smile on her face.

[It might be a surprise to see Naoya there, but he's got a booth. It's currently got a laptop with an animation of a demon being summoned from a COMP. The display behind it is covered in arcane symbols and lines of code under each one.]

[The second day, though, one might find him during his presentation - formally titled The Digitizing of the Summoning Process.]

[The digitized process of demon summoning is something Alcor certainly takes interest in, even moreso given that what he's observed is something similar yet different. It's no coincidence that Alcor stops by the booth, hand pressed over his mouth in obvious fascination (or amusement? It's hard to tell).

...Though perhaps he really shouldn't be...leaning in so close to the laptop screen.]

[He got the short version before, but it's nice to get the in-depth presentation. Hizumi's sitting somewhere in the middle of the gathered group, actually looking like he's paying attention for once.]

[Fumi can be found sitting in Naoya's audience on the second day, legs crossed and with her laptop out, a small smile on her face as her fingers dance across the keyboard. She's very interested in the demon summoning methods of other worlds - and Naoya's in particular, considering the similarities.]

[Sup, ancestorperson. This is just going to be Aggie at the presentation, being as enthused as her linefaced self can be. This is just so interesting, even if she can only keep up with roughly half of it.]

Once the presentation is done, Kotoha raises her hand to ask a question. She doesn't bother to wait very long before actually speaking, though - just long enough to be certain Naoya noticed her, not long enough for him to possibly dismiss her.

"Um, I'd just like to be sure on this - did you work out the entire process from first principles? Nobody else had ever tried this?"

[Science is indeed how the world has progressed. It has also been the number one nonviolent way of sticking it to the powers that be. Galileo, anyone?

As a result, Agatha is going to be basically flitting from presentation to presentation, as close to starry-eyed as she'll ever get. Science is awesome.]

June 10 - 15, Lecturing: The Fourth Dimension

[Being a newcomer to the city, Phantom Girl hadn't really heard about the science fair until a few days after it starts, after which she decides to hold an impromptu info dump session for no particular reason other than that she was vaguely tired of people screaming 'ghost' at her.]

So when I refer to the 'fourth dimension', it's less a 'dimension' as is defined in the technical aspect by the physical sciences than it is an... inspired description of what you'd probably call an 'alternate universe'. See, Earthlings - that's you - can only perceive things within your own reality, and most of the time, you operate while blissfully unaware of the fact that there are layers and layers of 'dimensions' stacked up on top of each other. ...To be fair, that applies to the vast majority of species in any dimension. But a few, like the Bgztlians - that's me - have the privilege of accessing several different dimensional 'layers' simultaneously. No one's totally sure how we developed this ability, but some of our scientists theorize that we actually descend from an Earthling who somehow manage to cross over.

Anyway, that's just weird speculation. The important thing to take away here is that Bgztl and Earth actually occupy the same points in space-time, but Bgztl exists on a single dimensional layer below the Earth. Think of it like... putting on layers of paint. From your perspective, you can only see the outer coat, but from underneath, we can see both coats simultaneously. That's how Bgztlians work - we can jump between coats without much effort. As a matter of fact, it seems likely that a lot of legends and stories you have about ghosts and spirits were inspired by Bgztlians crossing over to make contact with your world. Primitive Earthlings were just terrified by coming into contact with strange humanoid creatures that were less than tangible. On our part, we waited until you were less... homicidal of anything that you found too freaky before we decided it was a good time to make contact. That happens somewhere around the year 2500, although I guess the dates here aren't really known.

...Aaaaand I can tell from the glazed expressions that none of you really care and you thought this was going to be a lecture on something else entirely, so you can all wander back out to the baking soda volcanoes, I guess. Any questions?

Since Shura's school had given her class the day off to visit the science fair and do a paper on their favourite lecture, panel or expo, she's come out to attend a few lectures. This one, unexpectedly, was opening whole new dimensions in her understanding of the Universe, so to speak.

"This is fascinating. Do you know if it works the same for all the worlds?"

So ever heard the phrase 'a kid in a candy store'? Nobody exemplifies it more at this very minute then Tachikoma does. Running from stand to stand, booth to booth, asking questions, prodding things, and generally having the time of her life, it might be hard to even pin her down to say hello. There's just too much information to gather slowly!

This does present a problem though, as getting into her path could cause a collision. On the other hand, a familiar voice calling out to her might pause her long enough to start a conversation...

June 12th - Weapon Demonstration: The Silencer

Brainstorm has taken to standing in a relatively open area, with a sign noting that he'll be showing off a new invention at various intervals throughout the day. A cursory glance shows that it's a pistol of some sort - scaled to his size, however.

The odd part is that he doesn't seem to have anything on-hand for testing...

"...so yes - what I've crafted is essentially a pistol that dependably inflicts the 'silence' effect on people, keeping them from using spells or speaking for about twenty minutes at a spread, or until the effect is removed via a healing spell from another party." He gestures to the weapon as he speaks - it's a pretty non-descript light-grey blocky pistol - save for a black speaker emblem on either side of the barrel with a big red 'no' emblem over it.

"Now then - would anyone care to volunteer for a demonstration? I assure you, that barring the silence effect, the device is completely harmless!"

[Feel free to volunteer, or be a heckler, or just ask questions. If annoying Brainstorm is your intention however, please let me know if he can use the Silencer on your character - as he'll take bothersome interruptions to be a means of volunteering.]

Chromedome is there of course, mostly out of curiosity. He's standing off to the side and just can't wait to see if anyone is stupid enough to be one of Brainstorm's 'volunteers'. Look at him not speaking and not volunteering. See, he can make good decisions when he tries.

"So how harmless is 'completely harmless?'"

Whoops, scratch that. Dammit.

Joshua had only been wandering around this big exposition full of science equipment to try and take his mind off of recent events... He personally didn't appreciate 'science', considering the mishaps he'd had with it for a year and a half straight. But most of these devices were harmless, or if they weren't harmless, they were downright comical. It was as though he was walking through the lair of a Saturday morning cartoon villain, watching people compete to create the smallest death ray possible. This was childish compared to what Alpha Omega had considered scientific conduct.

What caught his eye at this particular 'booth', however, wasn't the silly little silencer at all... It was the humongous hulking mech that looked like it had jumped straight out of a comic book and onto the floor before him. And it talked.

Joshua followed his words with only half-interest, giving a wave to the large robot towering over him with a smirk. "To be quite honest, I was under the impression you were the exhibit here. I can't say your pistol is very impressive in comparison... A bit of a disappointment, really." A compliment... an insult? Even Joshua wasn't quite sure which he meant it to be.

The whole thing seems fascinating - really, how does one prevent magic in a world that seems rife with it? Does it extend to Persona usage as well? A whirl of questions rise in his head, but really, there's only one suitable way to answer them all with ease.

He steps forward, raising his hand.

"Try it on me. It'll be interesting..."

Any day, panel: Demons Speak! Do You Understand?

For once, Shura has knowledge to share! She's proudly giving a panel on demonic languages every day after dinner, using her long experience in the Vortex to explain the different languages used by demons there.

"... and sadly, I cannot really write these words down as I don't know the writing system in use for it. Sorry!"

[ Since Okabe is a mad scientist this whole fair was right up his alley, though he had learned to keep his mouth shut when people are speaking for the most part. He didn't want to be schooled on a subject he wasn't a knowitall about since the last time it lead to him being well burned in front of a scientific conference.

For the most part he's looking at the panels dealing with how persona work since he's clueless about it for the most part. ]

Persona Presenation (WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON)

One of the large auditoriums is filled with students, teachers, civilians and scientists. In front, a rather nervous young lady who couldn't be more than twenty-five, is dressed in the MAGI scientific garb. She gives a small bow before she beings her powerpoint presentation.

"Hello! Thank you for coming! I hope I will be able to enlighten you on what we know about persona and persona users!"

The lights dim, and she begins to explain as the slides pass one by one.









































Once it is done she stands around, waiting for someone to raise their arm.

"And what if you're more used to fighting without the Persona?"

Haseo certainly is. It doesn't help that her Persona is, well...a weakened, distorted derivative of the death goddess she once held a contract with. Seriously, what does that say about her mind?
