WINE PARTY EVENT
Who: EVERYONE IN HINOTO-RI
Where: The Square in Scorpio Ward
When: Begins 00:00 New Years!
Summary: Anant and his Persona Dionysus throw a wine party! Mingle, have fun, and watch out for the drinks, some of them are spiked...
Warnings: Alcohol, so expect some silliness in this log. All of the silliness.
It began entirely by accident, really.
Anant had learned that one celebrated the turning of the New Year - a novel experience, really! A world that didn't stand still, that had the cycle of night and day, and the turning of the seasons; the thought of beginning time anew was something beautiful and magnificent to the deluded god. No wonder humans would celebrate such an event!
Dionysus had suggested that perhaps wine would be the best thing to toast the New Year with - and, of course, it would be best to celebrate it where the moon was high in the sky and the stars in view. Atmosphere was just as important! Their quest took them to the square in the Scorpio Ward, nicely fixed up from a past event (something about scorpions, they didn't pry). Anant, of course, brought their own table.
Dionysus supplied the wine, Anant pushed it upon those who were passing by at the time, and soon a crowd began to gather. It started small, but Anant's bubbly personality, delicious wine, and the lighthearted atmosphere drew more and more Hinoto-Ri natives to the scene, and eventually, some of the new arrivals. By the time the clock struck midnight, on the New Years, a large impromptu party had taken over the square!
The free alcohol was possibly the cause of it, but so long as everyone was happy and having fun, why should Anant object to such a thing! To observe such a large congregation of people together - it was magical! Fantastical!
Devious.
It was just past half past twelve in the morning when the 'effect's began appearing. But what did one expect, accepting alcohol from the God of Lunacy? With the moon so high on the sky, washing down on the people below, on such a jovial occasion, how couldn't Dionysus splash a bit of mischief in there?
So have fun, my fellow inhabitants. This night will surely be memorable...
[OOC: Sorry for the tl;dr! Alrighty, so everyone can mingle and do as they please in the comments! You do not have to know Anant to log in - you don't even have to interact with them! Just do your own thing and have fun!

So he wasn't drinking anything himself (not yet, at least!) but there was now the blue angel-elf-raven-birdthing person, dressed warmly in his usual purple and green robes under a long blue and black poncho coat thing and boots, hanging toward the outer edge of the party. He smiled, but he was less interested in getting... uh...
tipsyfestive himself, than in just enjoying the atmosphere and watching people. After a while, he took out his sketchbook and a pencil, and found a
perchseat on the back of a nearby park bench, from which he could sketch people.Feel free to pester him, potentially while he's absorbed in what he's doing, and cooing very softly under his breath without realizing it?

She also tended to keep an eye out for the wall flower type. After all, they were often just a bit shy, that was all. "What are you drawing?"
no subject
He glanced back to the book in his lap. It wasn't as though he was exactly guarding it; if she took a peek, she could tell he'd been drawing some of the random people at the party, perhaps be able to pick out some of the individuals. He was good at it, even with just a pencil. He looked back up to her, putting on a little smile more. "I felt like practicing again, is all."
no subject
She glaces at the sketchbook. "And those are really nice." Much better than Destruction's efforts tended to be. Not that she'd ever say that to his face.

The problem here was that he was small. Shorter than most people around, standing in at a whopping 5'5''. So despite his blue skin, he didn't exactly stand out, especially in a crowd.
But breaking away from the crowd, he took a seat by Avitus, knowing it was a slightly familiar face that wasn't human. Kais, however, did keep his mouth shut.

Hey, this page was loose. It was folded in half, the crease to be sewn into the binding like the others, except it'd somehow managed to be slightly mis-aligned, and the string had missed it. So it would take almost nothing to remove it with very little damage, if he wanted...
"...."
He glanced beside him, to the smaller alien, and down to the page. He leaned a little forward and to the side, for a slightly different angle, one a touch closer to Kais's eye level and a better vantage point for seeing him a little more from the side than behind. Sometimes, three or four inches made all the difference in perspective. He adjusted how he held the bench's back in his long feet, toes renewing their purchase across the seat, through the boots he had on. If Kais looked over, he probably simply looked as though he were hunched over a touch from the cold, despite his warm clothing and the giant, feathered wings he held around himself. At least he didn't look uncomfortable there, smiling faintly, drawing quickly.
Sketch, sketch sketch....
He'd be quiet for a couple minutes, making quick little strokes, just the lightest of sounds, across the paper with the pencil's lead. He paused a little every once in a while to rub something else onto the page, a small roll of paper, smudging his shading into a smoother look, and then resumed, glancing back up at Kais, and back down to the drawing he was doing, back and forth, as he worked.
He'd probably be at it a good five, maybe ten minutes, if Kais didn't break the friendly quiet between them first.

Of course, he had to keep the thought running through his head that was put through all Tau brains. One that said that other races were just different and should not be disliked or hated for what they were or what they did.
Still, he couldn't help but wonder.

Quiet, "La Kais, was it?" Rub, rub, sketch, rub...

"Happy New Year!" Anant crowed, appearing practically out of nowhere with startling suddenness, clapping Avitus on the shoulder. Their coat was open, sloping off of their shoulders dangerously and revealing the feminine body beneath, with splashes of red wine staining the soft cotton sweater beneath. Anant either didn't notice, or care.
"Why are you sitting here, all by your lonesome? Pertaining to the arts, are we? It would not do, it would not! Please, have some wine! Enjoy! Celebrate, Blue-Thingy!" Anant chattered, their tone positively manic as they practically thrust the cup of wine under Avitus's nose, the dark crimson liquid swirling dangerously to the rim.
no subject
"H-hi." He gave Anant a nervous smile. He'd seen the human -- or at least, he assumed they were human -- over at the tables, but hadn't noticed them coming over to him! And with a small sniff he couldn't help but take, he quickly shut the sketchbook and let it drop down between his thighs, catching it there to take the glass from the uh... rather festive host. If Anant spilled it, it'd get all over his robe and book, and as dark as that wine was, that would be a pain to clean out. He wasn't sure what kind of things they had here, for removing stains from clothing, but he didn't want to have to find out. And out of paper? Nope, probably not happening. :(
"Thanks. I'll... um... I'll do that." He probably won't. Not just yet, anyhow.
Anant, your exuberance worries him. How much wine have you had to drink already?
no subject
One could practically see the flowers floating about Anant's head as the glass of wine was accepted, rocking back on their heels as they clasped their hands together with a cheerful noise.
"Good, good. One should not be, ah, what is the term, 'growing poppy'? No, that does not sound right. Shrinking violet! Yes, yes, that is it. Violet is a colour too, did you know? Ah, right, of course you do - if you draw, you must also be aware of the colour spectrum - speaking of, did you know that you're a mix of many colours. Oh, pretty, hrm, let's see, I'm getting better at sussing them out now, let's see, let's see..."
Anant rocked forwards, leaning into the other's comfort zone with a hand cupping the bottom of their mask. "Smudges of orange, pale, ah, pastel yes, like the leaves in a lake, colour bleached out, um, hrm, oh, what does that colour represent again...?"
this thread has me giggling so hard. I love Anant, fyi. SO MUCH. ♥
Avitus simply stared back at Anant a moment, leaning away only a little, then looked to the wine, as though it could offer him any advice on how to get out of this odd situation, or even what to say in reply. He wasn't used to being a social little burd, and a fair part of him hoped Anant wasn't going to be upset that he wasn't having the wine already (he'd be going off to return it to the refreshments tables later
and pass it off to Vanellope before he reached said tables)... but they were busy going on about something. About what exactly, he had no idea, but it was something. Colors, whatever he meant about orange -- which Avitus plainly wasn't wearing. It made him wonder again about just how marinated the other was. Anant would be feeling particularly wretched from this once it wore off, wouldn't they? They'd have to, Avitus figured, and he was already feeling a little sorry for them, on that count. How could people apparently enjoy such horrible extents of intoxication? It was one more reason on his list of reasons he didn't understand it and wouldn't be trying to, that's what it was.
I'm glad you do! I'm sorry that Anant can be a bit incomprehensible and overwhelming at times ;v;
pfff why are you apologizing? XD
because i wish to simply forewarn you sob
that I'll have fun at my poor burdie's expense? XD
Pretty much! Ho ho ho~
Well, AWESOMENESS should not be apologized for! So there. XD ♥
♥ Thank you! I'm enjoying your character as well!
Thanks. And you're making my stomach hurt from laughing so much already. XD ILU! ♥
Sorry for the late reply! My tagging motivation dropped the past few days herp
No worries! Good things are worth waiting for. :)

He refolded his wings around his shoulders, leaving them sticking out just about straight behind him, over the bench's back, and resumed sketching. Currently, he was drawing Dionysus and Anant by the tables, handing out drinks to the guests. He was good at what he did, and it showed... not that he was showing off, just sharing.

Never mind that this didn't make any sense, the guy didn't seem to be having any fun doing it.
Here's a riddle for the human: what sort of wing is about twelve feet long, and covered in giant black feathers?
Answer: the one whose tip just got extended right into his view, and more than that, to within his easy reach. Avitus hadn't gotten up from the back of the bench, but he'd extended a wing out to offer him some help.
"...Are you all right?"
no subject

He leaned over, away from the human a bit, so that he could twist his wing a little more easily. He folded its length in at the middle of the wing's "fingers", exactly as a bird's shouldn't, but perhaps a bat's might, as he pulled it around... and neatly brought Nick to the spot beside him, on the bench.
Right, so he could use his wings like arms, more than birds' wings.
"And... I think I know what you mean. I like staying on the ground too." Have a self-conscious little bit of a smile at that.

Sorry this is so late >:
However, he still had a fondness for people and, especially, people who seemed off on their own. And this one looked so fascinating~!
The vampire came up behind the bench and leaned against the edge of it. "Someone so lovely shouldn't be secluding themselves at a party, you know~"
Don't be! :) I had a good laugh at this!
Or at least, he was pretty sure he was the one being... called.... Um.
Not really moving much, he peeked over at the newcomer, meeting their gaze. Yup, he was the one being called that.
His cheeks were looking more purple by the moment.
It wasn't like he wasn't aware of how he looked. It was just that he wasn't used to having attention called to it. And now it was. And suddenly, that was the most important part of the greeting, because with the way Johnny was standing, that little smile on his face... he was rather reminded of his own Sire.
His voice came out in a breathy little "hello"-sounding note, and he looked caught, trying to figure out what to add to that. Feel free to mistake the nervous tension for something else, while that blush deepens and he tries to give a smile back.
((honestly, I was thinking to tag Johnny's sword-practice log but kept re-writing it too much, and... now you've beat me to tagging with this, and this is way more amusing to me. XD Hopefully it is to you too? ♥ ))
I'm glad! XD
He flashed another, teasing, smirk and then decided to let the man off the hook...for now.
"So, what does one draw when at a party and people watching, hmm~?"
((I wouldn't have minded, but yes, this is much more amusing! I apologize now for how much of a forward flirt he is.))
<3
Feeling he should be saying something else, but unable to figure out what, he glanced back to his book, which held the last-mentioned subject on its pages, and held it up so that Johnny could see for himself.
He was only drawing with graphite -- a large pencil of some sort, was all -- on the off-white pages, a thick tome bound in brown leather, nothing that looked store-bought at all, but well-made anyhow, and old. The drawings on the shown page were of others at the party -- of Anant with Dionysus, of the various crowds of natives, of random people from the crowd. He was good; he'd had too much practice not to be. He hadn't drawn Johnny yet, though; he hadn't noticed him prior to being snuck up on like that.
((If you knew how much I torment my characters, you wouldn't apologize. XD This is great. +10 to Awkward!))
