The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside that night and let the city police and visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get lucky.

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[(Make sure you read it!) This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts (we're testing it out to see this works well or not.)

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

With her COMP indicating new arrivals in the city, Samus decided that a patrol during the dangerous hour of the night would be a good idea, just to make sure none of the visitors were harmed in their confusion.

On her patrols, however, while Samus had been expecting to face ordinary foes and demons she'd become familiar with over the past couple of months, what she hadn't expected was to see... some familiar faces wandering the streets of Hinoto-Ri. The Ing.

Somehow, the Thirteenth Hour seemed to give these creatures whom she thought she'd eliminated back on Aether the ability to exist in the normal dimension, without the aid of Dark Aether's atmosphere. And, unfortunately for Samus, she did not have her light beam or any light crystals with her anymore, making the Warrior Ing a greater nuisance than ever.

What's worse, their attacks of dark energy were actually starting to get to her because of her weakness to Dark attacks.

Samus fires rapidly at the creatures with charged shots as she attempts to mow them down and eliminate them and their threat from the city. Considering they only appeared now, during the Thirteenth Hour, she sincerely hoped that they did not exist any other hour of the day...

Watch out for the Ing, ladies and gentlemen. Samus is starting to take a serious beating from their steadily growing numbers.

Fortunately for her, someone else seems to have noticed them - and her. Otoha swoops in, slicing into one of them nearby, ignoring the fact that it's trying to pounce at him.

"Move!"

He doesn't seem to be too affected by the dark energy attacks, fortunately.

Samus looks over her shoulder at Otoha before rolling sideways and out of the way, watching as he sliced into the Ing.

"Watch out!!" Samus raises up her canon and charges a strong blast, hitting one that was lunging at Otoha. "These things can possess living matter, they aren't normal creatures!" Her suit was really the one thing keeping her protected from their possession.

"Not sure it'd work on me!"

He spun, sending a Kouha at a nearby Ing.

"Might wanna get moving away from here - draw them into a line!"

"I wouldn't risk it."

Samus maneuvers carefully to draw them away as he says, firing at more of them as they follow her.

"We can't leave any of them alive, they pose a threat to the citizens here in Hinoto-Ri. All they crave is destruction and domination for their species."

"YOL TOOR SHUL!"

A voice rings out like thunder on the battlefield, coming from a person in golden armor - flames erupt from them upon a number of the Ing. The flames do a moderate amount of damage to a group of Ing, but nothing explicitly strong. They also draw the attention of a number of the Ing to Ginia, who awaits them with sword and shield in-hand - the hilt of said sword glows brightly, eager to see action. A ghostly warrior stands by her side, his own blade in-hand.

The odds look bad, but they don't seem to be deterring her.

Samus stumbles backwards in surprise from the sudden thundering voice coming from nowhere. She turns towards Ginia, surprised to see her going at the Ing with a melee weapon, perhaps even more surprised to see the Ing shriek back in fear from its hits.

Was that light energy emitting from the blade?

"Careful, these creatures are capable of possessing both the living and dead!"

Ginia's masked face turns toward Samus at the warning, then nods. There's a mildly irritated huff from her - she wishes she'd known that before she'd shouted, but there will hopefully be enough time before she can do so again. In the meantime, however, she'll fight defensively. Talos, the spirit-like swordsman is sent ahead, unleashing a blast of icy energy. It doesn't do much damage, unfortunately. Ginia sticks to trying to maneuver closer to Samus, knocking Ing away with her shield when necessary, and striking with Dawnbreaker if a shield-bash isn't enough of a deterrent.

Samus moves back towards her as well, firing missiles at the creatures from her cannon, which knock them back and temporarily encase them with ice. Unfortunately the ice doesn't last very long, but it buys her enough reaction time to get several more hits off on the creatures before they're loose again.

The hunter glances back at Ginia's sword curiously.

"If that sword has light energy, these things can't stand the light. Their bodies become unstable from light energy."

"Xeno-breeds."

Loken snarls the word, as he wades into them, the bolter roaring a song of destruction, firing mass-reactive rounds into the Ing even as his chainsword shrieks into the close ones with long, lashing slices. He is like a colossal battering ram as he charges them, seemingly more concerned with exterminating them than saving or assisting Samus, though his sheer ferocity manages to draw them off her as he barrels into one with a shoulder barge. He radiates anger as he fights, blasting and slashing into them. Loken is a veritable tornado of violence.

Samus barely has time to react before her fellow warrior begins plowing through the Ing. The creatures definitely seem to be paying attention to the bigger, more immediate threat taking them by storm.

"Cerberus, these creatures are called the Ing, they once existed in my world! They can take possession of living and dead things, be careful!" They shouldn't exist any longer, however, since she'd exterminated all of their kind there. Why they were appearing here was beyond her.

"We shall see if they can possess their own corpses then!" He growls, smashing the barrel of his bolter nose-first into an ING before exploding it with a 3 round burst, covering himself in goo.

Samus seems amused by his comment, and even more she is surprised by his more than ready violence towards the creatures.

"As far as I'm aware, they can't."

When the bounty hunter notices a particularly thick swarm of the Ing forming, she braces herself on the ground, before she jumps up in the air and tumbles forward. Her Screw Attack function kicks in and tears through the creatures as she rolls through the air, cutting through their numbers.

Atoli would be fairly apprehensive about charging into a battle against so many enemies, particularly ones that look that powerful... but Samus looks plenty armored enough to her, and rather in trouble.

"Go, Yune!"

Her reserve Persona felt weaker than Innis, as if there was something blocking its full potential, but that didn't stop her from using it completely. As a nearby Ing is obliterated by one of its Hama spells, its controller would move as quickly as possible behind the beleaguered battlers.

Samus notices the light attack and glances back at Atoli. "They're weak to light energy!" In other words, keep doing what you were doing, it was rather effective.

Samus also notices that Atoli was using her Persona... something Samus herself had barely tried out. She wasn't sure that the ancient bird was up for this sort of fight, however. Its-- his-- attacks were fire based, something her cannon already took care of on its own and didn't seem all that effective anyway. He had other abilities, though...

It was worth a shot.

Blasting back one of the Ing with her arm cannon, Samus steps backwards and glows bright blue as she summons her Persona. "Old Bird!"

Her Persona, quite literally an ancient bird creature, appears behind her and casts Rakukaja on her. Suddenly the Ing's dark attacks weren't quite so murderous on her, her armor defense boosted much higher.

In The World, information on a monster's elemental type was important to all casters, even Clerics like herself. While that game had used a three-axis system of diametrically opposed elements, this city had its own system, where actual 'weakness', true 'vulnerability' was real.

Either way, she knew everything she needed.

"Okay, got it!"

As she was now easing into control of the small girl with the little bird, her voice was no longer necessary to guide it. Even so, she finds herself looking at Samus' persona with a smile - birds have always had that effect on her, which was part of the reason she'd chosen to adopt the one she was now using.

Once again its glowing holy talismans erase one of those dark menaces.

"I'm afraid I don't have any weapons that utilize light energy any longer."

Her Light Suit and Light Beam were ancient history at this point. She'd figured they'd run their course once Aether had been restored, anyway, not to mention her current suit was necessary for her survival.

Mowing down another Ing and spinning around only to find that there's another in its place, Samus realizes she's going to need a little more fire power with this swarm...

The word comes to her easily, despite never having heard it before in her life.

"Maragion!!"

Her Persona waves a staff in his hands and a burst of flames swallows and engulfs part of the swarm.

DeDeDe's been here for almost a month now, and he's generally stayed away from the 13th Hour as a rule, having little to no interest in getting himself involved in another pointless brawl in another dying city. But when he happens upon a familiar face fighting for her life on his way home from checking out the club, the generous side of his nature can't help but want to intervene on her behalf.

"Watch your back!"

The penguin king's voice rings out through the night air, accompanied soon after by the brief roar of a jet-propelled hammer and the subsequent alien screeching sound of an Ing taking the full brunt of the attack. There would be time for questions and introductions later, but right now DeDeDe feels he needs to help out just this once, even if this is almost assuredly not 'his' Samus.

Samus is... momentarily stunned by the... giant penguin's appearance, genuinely surprised to see such a humanoid looking bird creature. It was a little too familiar for comfort.

Shaking herself from her confusion, however, Samus spins around and fires a blast behind her, sending a lunging Ing shrinking backwards, screeching in fury.

"You too! These things are capable of possessing dead and living matter, don't get caught off guard!" She'd seen the results of the Ing possessing Space Pirates far too many times to count, she herself was lucky that these creatures were unable to breech her armor and take possession of her.

No problem! I may have him awaken his Persona in this fight, if that's cool with you?

"Don't you worry you pretty little head about that," DeDeDe responds, striking a defensive posture as he tracks the motion of the encroaching horde. It's perhaps a bit strange that he's already remarking on what Samus looks like under the helmet, but that's a conversation for later, when they're not both in danger of being mauled by bug monsters.

"What the hell are these things, anyway?" They're definitely nothing like anything he's ever seen before, even during the darkest days of the cannibal's reign. DeDeDe charges up another hit, swinging his hammer with expert precision and knocking a few more of them back.

Still, though, there's a lot of them against only two. Something's gotta give eventually.

Samus was going to chalk it up to the expression, rather than jump to the conclusion that he does indeed find her pretty. Though there is a tone of familiarity in his voice that she found strange...

"They're called the Ing, an alien menace that once existed on the planet Aether. I eliminated them and their threat from the universe, however... At least, I thought I had."

Samus does take note that, while the two of them were certainly capable, the sheer numbers they were facing was going to be a problem...

"They're vulnerable to light energy, if you have any in your arsenal."

Sometime after people whittle the Ing down work?

There's more help on the way, in case Samus is still having trouble, in the form of a certain commander she'd met only a couple of months back. Shepard attempts to make use of her Biotic power on one of them, looking for a successful Heavy Slam.

"Still having trouble, Aran?" The commander keeps her guns where they are for the moment, Lazarus ready should she need support.

Samus looks over her shoulder at Shepard when the commander steps in with her own fire power, tilting her head at her curiously.

"I can't pinpoint where their numbers are coming from. They're thinning out but they won't stop coming... If they persist past the Thirteenth Hour I'm afraid they could take over the city in a matter of days." She has her suspicions that these creatures won't last that long, but she's not going to take her chances.

"Then what're we standing around for? Let's get to work. The less the town has to deal with all of them, the better."

Not pulling out her guns just yet...for now, she's going to rely on her Biotic powers and go about hitting another hapless Ing with the Heavy Slam, before gathering herself and calling out Lazarus, prepared to work her support magic when necessary.

"You sound like you've dealt with 'em before, though. Is there anything they're weak to?"

[screwattack]

"I hope the civilians follow curfew and stay indoors..." Not that she was entirely sure that doors would stop these creatures from invading for very long. Ugh, why were these creatures even here??

"They come from a planet known as Aether; they were created from Dark Energy when the planet was split across two dimensions from a meteor impact. They're extremely susceptible to Light Energy as a result. They shouldn't even be able to exist in this atmosphere, considering it's full of light energy..."

She really wishes she had her Light Beam and Light Suit in times like these.
