Something Old, Something New

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside that night and let the city police and visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get lucky.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[(Make sure you read it!) This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts (we're testing it out to see this works well or not.)

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

This certainly looked nothing like any place within F3 that he had ever been to... Even their visit to Manhattan was nothing like this. The Manhattan that they went to was a dead city, barren of people, slowly torn apart by tendrils of nothingness, obliterating those who came too close...

And otherwise he'd seen two deserts and a bathhouse. All-in-all, empty or otherwise unexciting.

But this place was crawling with people on the streets, rushing along with shopping bags, either mothers with their children and arms full of grocery bags, or teenagers carrying bags full of new clothes. Smells of food wafted from restaurants and stands, and for the first time in his year and a half of life, he was...

Actually in a place that legitimately felt like home. Too much for comfort, in fact, to the point where the young Composer had to withdraw to a lonelier area underneath an overpass just to get his bearings. Sitting on the cold concrete and rubbing his arms, Joshua couldn't seem to find his faciliberry in either of his pockets, nor could he draw up nearly any of his power, despite his collar being black.

In fact, he felt more powerless than usual... at least he'd maintained some of his abilities with the blue collar, but there was nothing available to him right now. As if he were actually in the RG at the moment...

Lost and with no place to go, far too overwhelmed by everything he was seeing and hearing and feeling, Joshua chooses to stay put right where he is, attempting to sort his thoughts.

Absolutely none of it made any kind of sense, of course. Unless this was all some kind of dream. It certainly felt like one.

Neku's already been here for a couple of hours past a full day. He's got the rundown, learned what he needs to know, figured out his COMP to some extent... but he needs to know the layout. And from what he's been told, this place is huge. Bigger than the station, really. So, small steps.

Naminé had brought him to the Virgo district yesterday, so it was as good a place to start exploring as any. He started earlier in the afternoon, a few hours ago, and by this point, he's kind of sure he's got the layout of this district pretty well memorized. Couldn't tell you where any specific shop was, but he knew his way around enough to not get lost too badly.

... except, passing this overpass for the first time, there's... someone familiar there. It strikes Neku enough to pause, looking from a distance because that looks for all the world like--

Joshua. He doesn't know if it's the Joshua he knows or not, but stepping a little closer better shows the scar on his face. ... and really, Neku can't help but break out in a grin as he makes his way even closer.

"... hey."

Joshua looks up in mild surprise when her hears Neku's voice, blinking in surprise. He rubs his good eye a little.

"... Hmm... looks like this might be a Facility 3 trip after all, if there are familiar faces around."

He narrows his gaze a little, looking a little melancholy from this thought.

Neku just shakes his head at that. Man, he's never been this excited to tell Joshua something. ... well, maybe when he gave him the mural at Christmas, but.

"This isn't F3. I got here yesterday, and I talked to Kairi, and Naminé. They're the only other people here from the Facility besides you, me and Shiki, but... Josh, we're out."

Joshua's eyes widen when Neku mentions Kairi's name specifically. He heard Namine's name, and from the emphasis on it, he supposed that Neku had been expecting the greater reaction to come from her name... but...

"Kairi...?"

Kairi had been dead for months now.... no, longer that. She'd been gone for almost a year... There was no way.

Joshua's gaze steels over and he just stays put, seated on the concrete, as he gives Neku a completely skeptical look.

"... This must be an experiment."

... yeah, not... entirely what Neku had been expecting, but. The smile slips from his face just a little, a confused frown settling in it's place. Why was he questioning Kairi? Hadn't he been friends with Naminé?

"... yeah, Kairi."

His arms crossed over his chest. Look, he'd thought the same thing upon arriving, but that was before Kairi had told him what was up. ... a plan is slowly forming itself in his mind, here.

"It's not, Josh. None of us have our 'berry. When was the last time Val took away your 'berry?"

"Perhaps I'm trapped in a dream. It would make sense. Namine has been dead for months now, Kairi even longer."

He just looks away, leaning back against the wall of the overpass.

"I'm not letting myself fall for it. As lovely as this dream is, something's bound to go wrong with it. It always does."

... a dream, Josh? Really? No, he's pretty sure that he couldn't have dreamed being that cold and soaking wet yesterday. And if he's dreaming, this is the most goddamn detailed dream he's had in... well, ever.

So, after a moment of silence, Neku steps forward and lightly knocks Joshua in the head with his knuckles.

Joshua touches his head and glares up at him. "... Excuse me for being skeptical, Neku. A dream, a delusion, another Facility 3 trip... it's all far more plausible than what you're suggesting."

You might have to work a little harder to knock sense into him, Neku.

"Yeah, yeah. I thought the same thing when I first got here. Not saying you're dumb for not believing it, but it's the truth."

Neku sighs, looking back a little and rubbing his head. Maybe if he takes Josh to see Kairi... "Hey. Follow me."

Joshua rolls his eyes and reluctantly gets to his feet, brushing off his pants.

"This better not be a trap~" He has a bit of a joking, but cold tone in his voice. Joshua gestures forward. "Lead the way, Neku."

"Why would it be a trap?"

Neku shoots Joshua a look, frowning in disbelief. Despite the fact that it sounds like he's just joking, Neku doesn't really appreciate that tone. But... he'll go ahead and lead Josh towards where Kairi works regardless. Hopefully it'll knock some sense into him.

"I'm in a strange place full of strange people, Neku, you must forgive my paranoia." Joshua shrugs at him before following him a few wary steps behind, hands shoved into his pockets.

One hand moves up to grip at his black collar in confusion, glancing at his reflection in the shop windows that they pass and reconfirming its dull color...

"My collar is black but my powers are still suppressed... No, they're suppressed more than usual... Like we're in the RG."

Well, from one ward to another, Sora didn't get much help in figuring out where she was from anyone except the name of the club she was dropped off in. But what got to her was the crowds of people; coming from a place where the population was more monsters than people, it seemed overwhelming for the young nurse/acrobat. No one seemed to question the strange woman running all this time looking dirty and had a metal rod strapped to her back.

Sora also had no idea where she was even going and slipped, sliding on her stomach and making some kind of noise to acknowledge that yes, she fell and got hurt. But her major concern was her medical bag that she kept with her at all times: it kept sliding away from her.

"Eeek! Get back here!"

Don't mind her Joshua, just some weird woman.

Well..... that was certainly a sight he hadn't expected to see. Joshua gets to his feet and watches her with a look of confusion. Who the hell...

"Looks like you could use some help..." Not that he's offering a hand just yet. This gal was a little too strange for him to just walk up and trust her.

Gee thanks, mister. Watch her slide down the way and grab that ratty bag like a lifeline and not help her out. But she doesn't really care about that.

"I'm ok, but thank you for being concerned."

Sora, you can get up now.

He's not really one to just randomly reach out a helping hand... sorry.

Joshua puts his hands in his pockets and watches her. "... You should be more careful. What were you running from?" Suddenly he looks rather concerned, looking back the way she came for any monsters or strange creatures that could be lurking on the streets.

"Running? I slipped and kept sliding. I just didn't want to lose my bag, that's all."

There better not be monsters in this place! She's had enough of that for one lifetime!

"You slipped from running, didn't you...?" He tilts his head to one side. "Are you late for something?"

Joshua can't believe he's playing along like this is a real place, an actual city, where people actually had somewhere to go...

"Late...? How can I be if I just got here?"

Yeah, this was going to be a very interesting conversation indeed.

Oh, he can tell...

"I'm simply guessing the motivations for your actions. I'm a complete stranger, you can't have expected me to know that you only just arrived here..." He looks at her neck curiously, furrowing his brows. "... You don't have a collar?"

Joshua slips a finger under his own collar to show her what he meant.

"No...? Should I?"

Strange thing around his neck. Sora would've thought of it as jewelry if he didn't point it out.

"No... It's good that you don't have one... It's just unusual to me."

Perhaps Val didn't put one on her...? For the sake of an experiment. If this was Facility 3 he supposed it didn't make a difference. Speaking of...

"... Do you know where we are?"

She won't ask then.

"I didn't get a name of the city but the place I came out of was called Nyx's if it helps."

She was definitely new here too, then. Joshua just gives a small laugh.

"Nyx's? What sort of place was that? You didn't just come up from the underworld, did you?" He looks past her, where she came from, wondering if he was going to see some sort of rift into such a place.
