Something Old, Something New

▼ Something Old, Something New (13th hour & arrival log)

▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new oppertunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside that night and let the city police and visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get lucky.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefull anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[(Make sure you read it!) This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts (we're testing it out to see this works well or not.)

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona, but not in the same thread and the same day, IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES 1) The creatures have to be in the Beastary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

Souji wasn't sleeping very deeply; it'd become a learned habit, due to how unsafe it was to be that vulnerable inside the TV world. Some stubborn part of him was too exhausted and too bitter to give a damn, though. The fog would lift soon, and then they'd probably die, so who the hell cared anymore?

But hearing his own voice try to rouse him was...even in his addled mind, he couldn't turn a blind eye to that. Souji blearily opened his eyes, lolling his head to the side and...

There wasn't that distortion in Yu's voice. His eyes weren't yellow. There was no fog, either. Yet this place was clearly distorted, and he was alone- it was possible that this was what happened when the fog lifted, even if it would have been weird.

For such a heavy possibility, Souji sat up, and stood from the bench on autopilot. The golf club was grabbed as he swayed a bit in place, but other than that, he seemed to take a moment to gather his bearings before responding.

"It's not safe anywhere. Especially here." What else was he supposed to say? You're not me?

Yu almost reached a hand out, to keep this other version of him steady, but he let it fall back to his side just as quickly as it twitched up. There was still that chance, still that possibility...

...and just as he was thinking it, he quickly found it ridiculous. No, this "him" was worn out, looking like he had been through hell and back. It reminded him of Yosuke earlier that day, and it couldn't be a coincidence. His expression softened slightly, though it was obvious he was still on his guard.

"It's okay," he said softly, "I'm not a Shadow."

He paused again, looking him over.

"Do you need healing?"

Not a shadow. Right. Could a shadow deny who it was? That would have been an ironic twist, really, but Souji honestly doubted it, but then again...

He was tired of thinking back and forth and sideways. For now, he was just going to roll with it. Souji shook his head to the offer of healing, but soldiered himself closer to the other him, steadier now that he was a little more awake.

"I need food more than anything." Might as well be blunt, right? He hadn't had anything that wasn't cold and out of a can in...he didn't really remember how long. Time was weird and stupid.

Yu let himself reach out that time, a hand hovering near his other self's arm, ready to grab him should he fall over. When he was sure he was steady, he reached into his jacket pocket, pulling a haphazardly rolled up paper towel, a half smashed riceball hidden within. He had whipped it up real quick in case he got hungry while training, and... well, this "him" needed it more than he did.

"Here," he said, offering it to him. "It's not much, but it's fresh."

Okay, yeah, he would have been shadow chow by now if this was the situation he thought it was. With that possibility thankfully checked off in his mind, he took the offered riceball and wasted no time eating it. Your COURAGE has increased!

There was an odd sort of comfort in standing in front of your...self(?) at a time like this, though, and once he wadded up the paper towel, Souji managed to at least give himself(?) a half-smile. "Thanks." That didn't even begin to address the elephant in the street, but it was a start. "So, um...if we're not going to do the 'you're not me' thing, can I at least ask how you're...?"

...was that a stat increase jingle? Self, what are you doing without maxed stats? Shame on you.

Yu watched him practically inhale the riceball, a faint smile coming to his face; poor guy looked like he was practically starving. The thought came to him that he should take him home and cook him a proper meal, but... well, he still couldn't be entirely sure of him yet. At the question, however, his expression sobered slightly.

"It seems that people from similar 'realities' can show up here too," he explained. "I guess... duplicates can also appear as well."

...wait, that probably made no sense. Explanation time.

"We're not in Inaba anymore, by the way," he began. "Nor is this the TV World. We're in a place called Hinoto-Ri."

Hey, hey, he's at the start of November, give him a break. Besides, Expression is his dump stat.

"I guess that's one way to null introductions..." It'd be pretty silly to go 'Hello Souji Seta, I am Souji Seta', right? "So, that dream was actual? I thought-" wait no why would he bring up why it had worried him stop ugh even if its himself- "...well, I thought a lot of things."

There was an uncomfortable pause after that, and Souji suddenly found his shoes rather interesting. "I don't think I can stay here."

...this wasn't like him. He never looked this... worried, upset... broken. What the heck had happened in his other self's world?

"We shouldn't talk about it here," he finally said softly after a moment. "There are a lot of monsters out during the Thirteenth Hour, and you... look like you need to rest."

He paused, considering. There was his place... and the Inn. Either would take a bit to get to, and he still wasn't sure about inviting another self over, especially after learning about the possibility of... that, but...

"I can take you to my place, or the Amagi Inn," he finally said after a moment, giving in. "Which would you rather?"

"Your place?"

How was the Amagi Inn here? And, did he mean...Dojima's? His, Dojima's-

His Dojima's would never be Souji's, would it?

That thought was so abrupt that Souji had to shake his head to dislodge the shock of it. He...really needed to stop thoughts like those. That little, insecure voice. He knew what that could become, he'd seen it happen so many times. He needed to be better and stronger than that.

"...whichever is closer, I guess." Souji didn't bother picking his gaze up. "I'm exhausted."

Yu stared at him for a long moment, and... feeling insanely guilty for ever thinking that this version of himself could support Adachi. After a moment, he let out a breath, smiling faintly.

"...I'll take you to the house," he said softly. "They're about the same distance away, but at home I'll cook something up for you."

Wow, it was almost hysterical how Souji relaxed at the thought of himself cooking. At least he could trust him(self) to not put salmon, saffron, and soybeans inside a cake. Even if there was an uncomfortable feeling in his gut about potential emotional reactions to seeing his home of about a year.

"...thanks." That also felt weird, but what didn't at this point? "I'll try not to fall asleep on the walk back."

After the hot chocolate during Christmas, Yu wasn't letting any of the girls near his kitchen. Ever.

"Don't worry; I'll carry you."

...well, that wasn't awkward to say or anything.

A moment of silence passed between them as they headed down the street, Yu keeping an almost constant eye on his other self. The doubt was still niggling at the back of his mind; what if this really was Adachi's accomplice? What if he was just faking this, just to find out what was going on? What if, what if... some of the "what ifs" were getting pretty ridiculous in his head; he needed to break the silence with something.

"...your name... it's 'Souji', isn't it?"

If this really was that other Yosuke's "him", then...

Souji was content to just nod and walk, trying to stubbornly ignore the offer to be carried (not out of awkward or pride, but out of self-disgust), but this other-him saying his name so suddenly made him stumble to a dead stop.

He looked stunned, wary, and altogether shook up by that. "How do you know?" Then, with a lot more emotion in his voice, he stepped up closer, trying to keep his volume down. "Someone here knows me. Right?"

But who would be asking for him? Yosuke was probably angry with him, the rest of the team was safe as far as his addled mind wanted him to believe... "Just tell me it's not him."

Yu regarded him for a moment; good to know that he didn't just assume their names were the same. Then again... this was him. Thou art I, I am thou? Okay, his brain needed to stop being a geek and focus.

"If you mean Adachi..." he began. May as well break it to him now. "He's here, but he's from a different reality from the both of us. He knows 'me' by my name -- Yu Narukami. He wouldn't realize we're the same."

He offered Souji a small smile then. "Your Yosuke is here. I ran into him earlier. He's probably safe in his own apartment by now."
