Farewell Happy Fields!

What: Aftermath of Anoli Attack: Hospital
Where: Leo Ward - Caduceus Hospital Headquarters
Summary: It is the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies. The injured have been taken to Caduceus Hospital Headquarters, and it is time for reflection, visting, or old-fashioned escapes from the hospital rooms.
Warnings: Mild squick if people want to describe their wounds in explicit detail.
Caduceus Hospital Headquarters. It has a distinguished history within Hinoto-Ri, boasting of a staff of well-trained Healers, as well as possessing the most cutting edge medical technology possible. There was no limb they couldn't reattach, no organ they couldn't replace... - they even claimed to be able to bring someone back from the dead (with the small disclaimer that it could only occur under certain conditions and with an obscene amount of luck).
So needless to say, the hospital was more than well-equipped to deal with the aftermath of the Anoli attack on the Closing Ceremonies.
---
Nearly every hospital bed had been filled by an injured patient that night. The A&E room had been in constant chaos, with civilians crying and shouting, searching for loved ones, or demanding to see doctors or healers to help so-and-so...
There had also been plenty of reporters milling about, shouting and crying over the status of the Mayor's Secretary, and whether the Red Lion had really died at the scene, or if he was still alive and well within the safety of the hospital's ICU.
By the time morning broke, there was a false sense of tranquillity within the hospital. The healers had been pushed to their limits with the sheer number of patients being wheeled in and out of surgery, but otherwise, the situation had finally gotten under control. Now, both civilians and visitors were merely waiting for word of the conditions of their injured friends and family...
[Welcome to the winding down of the event! You are now at the hospital, where you may be visiting the injured, or be one of the injured yourself! Those with RED injuries will be in the ICU, and those with YELLOW injures will be in normal wards, for obvious reasons. Those with GREEN injuries wouldn't have had to go to the hospital at all, so they are free to come and go as they wish!
You may all start your threads and mingle!]

Open! Just specify the day, please. c:
However, the second day he is a little more conscious and manages to carry on whole conversations. The second day is when it fully sinks in that he is sharing a room with the one and only Junes Prince. At this point, he spends a lot of time being horribly entertained by Yosuke's fangirls, even as he does his best to not be noticed by them - after all, having beaten Yosuke in the tournament had rendered Minato and Atsuro very much in the fangirls' black books of death and dismemberment.
... thankfully the nurses are quick to shoo them out. Usually.
Each day after, Minato does progressively better, though he still seems to be asleep an awful lot in between therapy and healing to make sure his bones set right and the torn muscles and so forth in his arm and shoulder mend and strengthen properly...
What a lazybones!A keen observer might notice that he is perhaps a little over-eager to get better and get out of here, though - even at the expense of proper healing. Perhaps the excess sleeping is a part of that?
Any day after the first few!
Not that the boy is an issue, really- he can't blame him, all things considered. He'd been in that position, trying to push through recovery in his youth...the doctor just really didn't want others to have the same issues he had.
So every so often, he'd poke his head in unannounced. Just to check and make sure he wasn't, who could know with kids these days, doing squats or something. It also helped that Hanamura was in the same room, which gave him a solid alibi...most of the time. He'd really appreciate not having to duck around preteen girls to peek in himself. It was just, embarrassing.
"Ari-" Almost as if on cue, a girl tried to peep around the doctor's arm, and he moved his clipboard stubbornly in her view's path. "Arisato. How're you doing today?"

But be that as it may, Minato glanced up when he heard his name, pausing his mp3 player, though he didn't bother removing his headphones yet. Aside from perhaps trying to walk about and tire himself out more than he should and trying to do too much with treatments, he had been a fairly quiet patient, even if his restlessness was quite apparent. He was glad his sister had brought him his mp3 player and headphones - rescued from wherever they'd deposited his actual clothes when they'd been removed for surgery. Music was the best, most soothing way to past the time when he couldn't get up and move about
and trouble poor doctors like this.So he blinked up at the doctor and -- shrugged. Which was an improvement - his one shoulder wasn't so tender, now. "Ok."

"Do you mind if I give it a look?"
Not literally. The doctor was already reaching in to his pocket for something, squeezing it once before the skeletal form of his persona took shape.

Whoops. About 3 days after admission.
Apparently some deliveries are just harder than others.

Guybrush certainly looks like he's in trouble, but Minato's not sure whether opening the door more to make it easier for him to tumble in or pressing the nurse call button would be the better move. So he shifts a little, preparing to do either, as he watches to see if Guybrush can extricate himself from Yosuke's legion!

Day 1, evening
They say he will be fine. The knife hadn't hit anything vital. It was poisoned, but it isn't fatal. He'd lost blood, but despite her offer they didn't need her to give a transfusion... His broken arm will heal too, good as new. There's nothing to fear.
Telling herself that doesn't block out the images.
Minato, with a knife at his throat.
A crimson stain blossoming through his shirt.
The crunch of breaking bone.
Another person, lying deathly still in a different hospital bed, hooked up to IVs and machines.
The pale green walls of a children's ward, years and years ago, with only one patient for a pair of twin beds.
The power of social links makes you stronger. Bonds friends, bonds with family... those attachments bring joy and create miracles. But right now, Minako only feels small and weak.
One moment, she decides. One moment while no one is here to listen. She leans onto the bed beside Minato and buries her head in her arms, muffling the sound as she finally gives in to tears.

Shinjiro is standing, leaning against the wall just outside the door, observing quietly—just another of the many tangible ghosts inhabiting the hallways.
Most of his memories from the time the attack began are jumbled. He remembers watching a girl fall unconscious, he remembers fighting until he couldn't anymore, remembers coming into the hospital, remembers realizing other people besides him were hurt and everything was pretty damn wrong. Though all those memories are a blur of pain, adrenaline, and color, like all the memories to the day are puzzle pieces that have been broken apart and scattered, and each piece found is but a fragment of a moment. He figures things will string back together now that he's feeling halfway lucid. His body still aches from the poison, but he no longer feels like his body is being eaten away by acid and fire, and he no longer believes he's twenty seconds away from suffocating. Breathing's easier, and he can think without his thoughts swimming somewhere else. The wound in his arm's stitched up, and though it probably should take days to heal, he can already feel it itching and mending. The poison's been purged, and the last of it, as well as the drugs they gave him through his veins, are fading away from his system, clearing his mind and enabling him to better reason, move, and think—lucid enough to remove the IV and leave, so he wouldn't take up room in a temporary and hastily made hospital bed that someone else probably needs more than he will.
For as bad as things are, it will still be okay.
Doesn't mean things aren't still hard and bitter to swallow. He knew, vaguely beneath the haze, what had happened to Minato when he had been told, and had made an effort to find out where he was, and made a deliberate beeline for his room once he had become well enough to leave. He figured that's where everyone that can will gather eventually. It's also where he assumed Minako would be, and he's right on that count. He'll find where they stashed his regular clothes later, and stick with the garb the hospital had shoved him in for now.
It's distressing, though, hearing her cry. He hates it. Makes him feel a lot of things he was never supposed to.
Stupid kid (though not a kid, really) should just hurry up and wake up for her all ready; a big brother isn't supposed to make his younger sibling worry.
(Except that he knows it's probably far better that Minato's unconscious for a little while. He'll come to, eventually, but he shouldn't have to deal with the waking world right now.)
He debates waiting outside until she is done crying, because Shinjiro's sure she's only crying because she thinks she's alone (she isn't). She probably doesn't want anyone to see her this way, because it's a part of her, maybe, that she doesn't want anyone to know exists. Except he's seen just about every part of her by now. This one certainly isn't her greatest secret. He's seen her laugh, he's seen her smile, and he's certainly seen her cry. She doesn't really have much to hide anymore.
But he respects her need for privacy, too. He also debates leaving for awhile just to see it done. Let her have her moment alone. But then, he thinks, she never left him alone in those moments that he wanted to be, so maybe he shouldn't wait and he shouldn't leave, not until she tells him to. So he doesn't.
He walks in quietly, looks at Minato in his bed (idiot), before making use of his voice. "Hey," he says, letting his fingers lightly touch her shoulder. "It'll be okay."
And it will. Eventually. Though he's also not sure what the hell to say.

A few days in so Minato doesn't sleep through the conversation, shall we say?
"It's practically a party in here! Hey-- is this allowed? I thought hospitals were supposed to be quiet, peaceful places."
works for me!

[Dawn of the Second Day]
Other than her voice, the room is silent. No one's around but Minato and his unconscious, sleeping roommate. And her.
"I'm glad to see you're still alive. Wouldn't want to see you leaving from this world so quickly, when you've only just arrived. It wouldn't be fun that way. It certainly wasn't my intention, though accidents happen." She lifts her hand, a wide, fox-like smile decorating Geneva's face—one Minato probably won't remember the details of later. Just a blur of color and a familiar, taunting voice. "I've just come to check up on my handiwork, and I see it's just as magnificent as I remember."
not here at all what so ever

[48 hours remain]
He doesn't recognize the face sneering overhead (and he isn't helped by the way his vision blurs and swims), but the voice he does, and his eyes widen in surprise. The fingers trail up, and he tries to squirm away, but movement still hurts and is sluggish and besides, there is nowhere for him to move to anyway. Although he is a little slow to piece together the words she is saying, enough of how she's saying them turns his surprise into a glare, and his fingers clench into fists.
"Wh-what... why -- Geneva?"
He isn't very good at getting words out particularly coherently, but she'll probably get what he means anyway - 'what the hell' and 'why hasn't someone punched you in the face yet'. And in any case, the words themselves aren't important - it's not like mere words will stop her from doing whatever she's come here to do.

A couple of days after admission? :3
"Ugh! Just let me through! Yosuke isn't even my type!!"
You can hear the dramatic gasping from the other side of the wall of the room. Fangirls' voices carry, apparently.
"I'M SERIOUS!" Shiki's voice carried, too. But hers sounded like she was growing more irritated by the second. She was this close to summoning Mr. Mew. "Let me through!"
:D
"Let her through or I'll call security again."
And then they'd be kicked out completely. Again. Which hopefully they'd want to avoid enough to ... actually let her though. Unfortunately, Minato's voice wasn't particularly strong yet and certainly not as piercing as their shrieks. .. would Shiki be lucky? Can she take the chance to duck into the room --?!
❤ - Day 2, late
So when he slipped into this next room, he paused, counting how many occupants there were, silently, as he tugged another plume out -- Minato, Yosuke... were Minako and Shinji still present, or had they ducked out for a moment? -- and stepped over to Minato's bedside, sighing to himself before he set one of the huge feathers down on the nightstand. It was big -- just over a foot long, and about five inches wide -- and in good shape, so hopefully it would be well-received.
And if Minato didn't wake up (and really, the blue birdish person wouldn't blame him if he didn't!) then he'd step away to go leave similar presents for the others.
Feathers~
He doesn't say anything right away, though - just watches, curious and groggy. He follows the movement of the feather, as Avitus sets it down.
"Wha..t?"
From stress-induced molts, yaaa-- wait. :/a

[Second Day, Evening]
He'll be in a chair, sitting next to the tall windows, observing things quietly.
Re: [Second Day, Evening]
Resting his gaze on Shinjiro, he mutters a soft, "Hey," and lifts the hand of his non broken arm in a slight wave.
Having someone here is... nice. It's so much better than waking up alone, as has usually been the case in past hospital stays. Yukari after his weeklong coma had been a welcome change. And his visitors here have been more than welcome with one notable exception. But Shinjiro is not that exception and Minato manages a weak smile.

One of the first few days, while Minato is conscious.
In any case, here's Ferrus. He's got a spare blanket draped around his shoulders, over the part of his little medical 'robe'. forming a makeshift hood and cover for the burnt side of his face. It doesn't hide the burn scars on his leg, though. His robotic limb is plainly visible, and it's currently the arm he has using his IV drip as a cane. Sure, it wasn't safe. But it was easier then the alternative.
His voice is recognizable, even if his albino appearance is not. "...How are you feeling?" His expression is one of curiousity and perhaps a bit of worry - had he heard the extent of the damages? Probably. Minato was a nice guy, in his opinion. So...
c:
Minato pulls his headphones off carefully with his left hand (his right is in a sling still) and smiles a little. "I can't complain. Everything's healing. How are you, Ferrus?"
Right, so maybe he's dodging the question a little, but he notes that worry in Ferrus' face and wants to appease him. Besides, Ferrus looks in bad enough shape himself... Minato finds it pretty interesting to see what he really looks like, though.

In the hopes of dodging the damn fangirls that had stood next to the door like a bunch of overeager hens, Miki had arrived at night and walked past most of them sleeping, able to get into the room without having to push any of them back.
The only problem was she hadn't slept much herself, and when she finally managed to get in, the situation dawned on her. Both of them were asleep, and would probably be for a while long, so she leaned down on one of the walls and waited. By the time either would wake up, Miki had already dozed off. Her mouth was open, and she was drooling a bit.
She tried.
no subject
Perhaps that was enough to awaken Miki, but even if it was not, Minato found he couldn't fall back to sleep now, and he glanced around the room, only to stop when he noticed someone new and familiar slumped against the wall. ... hopefully Miki doesn't mind if he just watches her for a few moments.

A few days later | morning (whoops late)
It's a few days later in the morning, Minato wakes up and sees Pharos seated comfortably at the end of his bed, clearly and solidly there. In the bright sunlight of dawn coming through the tall windows, the personification of Death smiles at him, delighted to see him fully awake and on the way to recovery.
"Good morning. Have you slept well, Minato?"
It's a familiar greeting.
And since it's a little too early for visitors, the hospital room is empty except the Junes boy sleeping soundly in the next bed over. The sunlight makes the sterile whiteness of the room brighter.
/also late
He makes some sort of non-committal noise at the question about sleeping well and slowly pushes himself to a more upright position. "Morning, Pharos. How are you?"
