Ahh Autumn. The time for harvest, and the normal national holiday that falls on the 24th and 25th. Demons? Angels? Magic? Well nothing's been put on pause, but even the Anoli need to relax once in a while...

With that free time, what's a newcomer like you to do?

Well Hinoto-Ri has much to offer! As they seem to be the only standing city in...well, anywhere, they've tried to merge and adapt as many festivals around the world as they can.

Ergo this Fall festival is a mixture of everything the world could offer. Corn on the cob, Pumpkins, Yaki Imo (Oven-Roasted Sweet Potatoes), Ramen stands, Falafel, caramelized apples...

A giant dragon is tied down in the middle of the waters. At night, you can see a few pixies hover close to it, keeping other monsters at bay. The streets have been decorated as well.

But most importantly, the upper Virgo Ward has been turned in a giant festival area...even more so than usual! Now the millions of stalls don't just try to sell things to you, they sell things to you thematically with this fall! Giant pumpkins and fresh produce made in Libra and Capricorn..did you know that Capicorn has an amazing giant apple orchid, protected by the office of Wands and Swords? Try out some free samples! One taste is enough to convince you that having Persona to irrigate the fields ass a crispness to the fruit..right? Winter outfits...hats are in this year! Listen to some of the new music groups, and get pumped for the upcoming movies!

There is giant mooncake in the middle of all the tents and stalls. Don't worry about the money! Everything's free today! It is a time for sharing and family and...

...being thankful for what you have. No matter how small it might be.

For a city of survivors, Hinoto-Ri is certainly trying to have a good time.

The space marine stands by Giant dragon, watching it with interest. Even with his helm on, his stance suggests a certain amusement, rather than watchfulness, for once.

Even with all the amazing and beautiful food stalls, the majestic, glowing dragon was what caught Oboro's eyes. Leaving the crowd behind, she walked quietly down the path leading to the edge of the water where the brightly-lit beast stood. When she was near enough, she could see the shadowed back of a large person, but with a closer view, Oboro could see that part of the bulkiness came from his armor.

"Oh, someone is here..." she hesitated for a moment, hoping she would not be bothering him. At the same time, Oboro realized it would be rude to say nothing, so she approached him from his side quietly. "Aa... good evening, Lord Samurai, please forgive me if I am disturbing you. I only want to see the dragon as well. Please do not mind my presence."

[Ruri quietly walks down the street, looking over the vendors but keeping her distance, occasionally glancing over at a ramen cart and then staring at the ground for a bit. She has a small flute tied to the purse in her arms and seems to have an aura of distance from the festival about her as she continues down the street.]

"I should have left this with my things at home."

"And why is that?" Rumbles a huge figure that is also eyeing the ramen cart from under his helmet.

Yamato is a bit...overwhelmed by all of this. It was like stepping into an alien world with the amount of strange decorations and activity swirling around him. So don't be surprised to see Yamato wandering about aimlessly, looking a little lost...]

There's totally a plate of takoyaki sitting on some sort of cube-shaped table, utterly covered in a black tablecloth.

It is not suspicious or out of place at all, and it totally says FREE on a little card next to it.

You are totally safe to take it. No, really. It is a very good idea.

Oh you know Yu is here, and he brought his appetite.

Okay, so that's not entirely accurate; he's not chowing down on everything in sight, but hey, free food? Was he going to complain? Absolutely not. He's on his own at the moment, but he's totally keeping an eye out for familiar faces... you know, when he doesn't have his face in an apple... or a slice of mooncake... or something equally delicious.

Hey, you know what? He conquered Aiya's rainy-day-only nikudon special. This is nothing.

Ludwig couldn't help but chuckle at this young man who was clearly enjoying himself. "Well? What do you recommend? Of the food, I mean." Hey, Ludwig wanted to get his munch on a bit, too...

After listening to Kotetsu's incessant whining for too long, Barnaby finally caved in and allowed the man to drag him to the Autumn Festival. The splashes of orange and yellow brought by fresh pumpkins and corn weren't unusual, but the hodgepodge of cultures took him by surprise. Stern Bild had a variety of festivals, it was true, but he didn't think he'd ever seen one that combined so many different elements like this. The glowing, red street lamps and large dragon that dominated the water gave him plenty to look at.

Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the two of them to become separated by the throng of people. With so many stalls, Barnaby wouldn't have been surprised if Kotetsu had wandered off to round up as much Japanese festival food as he could for Barnaby to try, getting swallowed by the crowd in the process.

What an idiot, he inwardly grumbled, even if he didn't completely mean it.

Although he was keenly aware of his surroundings, the area was still too unfamiliar to him for his liking. Masking any discomfort he may have felt, Barnaby approached someone he thought he'd seen in passing before.

"Excuse me," he politely cut in, interrupting whatever they were doing, "but have you seen an old man wearing a vest and a green dress shirt? I think he might have gotten lost."

That would be Kanji looking at an entire row of pink bunnies at one of the booths, unaware he was being talked to until he cmoically turned around and realized he was a few seconds after Barnaby's last words.

"O-oh uh!" he straightened up. "N-nah. I ain't see a guy like that. Sorry."

He is not, for the record, wearing his green tunic (why would he? The thing's baggy as all heck, to say nothing of the chainmail), but something more modern. A sweater and jeans, basically.

And pumpkins. Though he's not wearing them, thank goodness.

It took a little self-prodding, but Ludwig made himself go to the festival. It wasn't like he was a stranger to big festivals with lots of food, anyway (Oktoberfest, anyone?). This festival had an enjoyable enough atmosphere, he could say that much. It would take a little poking to get him to admit it, but he enjoyed an atmosphere of merriment and joy (again... Oktoberfest!).

For now, Ludwig was just walking around the festival, surveying the food and the people. Maybe he'd sample something later...

In one of the booths, someone has kindly set up a karaoke machine. It plays a mixture of music unique to this city and hit tunes that somehow seem to have materialized from other worlds. Perhaps it is a karaoke machine from the sea of the soul? But whether you're in the mood for something familiar or something brand new, this machine has it all.

Are you ready to show off your voice and your moves?

Someone seems to be enjoying himself at the karaoke booth. If you've met this blue-haired teen before, you might be a little surprised to find him up there, singing shamelessly and clearly enjoying himself, given that otherwise he's normally pretty reserved and quiet...

Or maybe not. Everyone's got their hobbies, right? One of Minato's just happens to be karaoke, and his voice isn't at all bad to listen to, either. He's no opera singer, but he does seem to have some musical inclination, at least, even if he's not trained in singing.

He may or may not be being deliberately silly with adding in a few dorky dance moves to songs he really likes, but he doesn't get too carried away with such extraneous movement, since singing is what he's really enjoying here. Since he's having so much fun, you know you want to join him ... right?

"Luck tonic! Get your luck tonic here! Each comes with a free fortune! Perhaps it'll be a good one! Oh ho ho ho!"

It seems someone else is joining in on the entrepreneurial spirit. There are several bottles of tonic with an envelope tied onto each. They're a bit steep, but they seem to be selling well enough. But do they really bring luck...?

"Daikichi - Great luck. 'You will meet a seller of luck tonics.'"

Hopefully, Misery is accustomed to Atsuro's completely unfunny idea of humor at this point as he appears in front of her stall.

"How much are you selling this stuff for?"

It's not the first time Mahiro's surprised since coming here. Not by a long shot. It is, however, the first time it happens in a pleasant manner.

"...I'm confused. How can a place so dangerous just change moods like this?"

"It's a city. No city can be in a bad mood all the time."

You did ask the question out loud. It shouldn't be surprising that a random stranger answers it.

"Haaaaaah? ...You're askin' 'bout Tsukimi? What're they teachin' ya in school nowadays, kid?"

The diminutive creature snorts and plucks at its whiskers, shuffling down the street at an interminably slow pace. Atsuro slowly treads alongside it, shrugging awkwardly in response. "It's not that I don't know what Tsukimi is. I just thought... You'd know more about the history, right? You've gotta be like, a thousand years old or something. ...How long do kawauso even live?"

"Ghk -- Goshdang, what'd I do to deserve such an idiot master?! Youkai otters are still otters, pudding-for-brains!" The creature removes its straw hat and slaps Atsuro sharply across the leg. Yet though its tone is sharp, a broad smile spreads across its furry face, a fact that Atsuro notes with some alarm. Kabuso leans in closer with a sly grin.

"Tsukimi's the 15th day of the 8th month. It literally means 'watching the moon'; whaddaya think Tsukimi's for? Used to be that you people had some respect; Tsukimi actually meant something. Ya think I don't know what your crap modern festivals are about now? Drinking and carousing! Hahaha, not that I wouldn't mind some a' that myself." A brief, uneasy pause. "Here, ya wanna know what Tsukimi is about? This is what Tsukimi's about!"

In a blinding flash of light, the youkai flips backwards and vanishes; in its place appears a humongous, beautiful, pale sphere almost as luminous and entrancing as the full moon high above. Atsuro stumbles back from the illusion and shields his eyes.

"Tch -- Cut it out! People are trying to have fun here! ...Geez, I can't take you guys anywhere."

"Tsukimi! Shut up and watch the moon!"

You know... it was almost refreshing to see someone besides him getting made a fool of, even if he certainly wasn't always the butt of the jokes. But still! Daichi's just kind of lingering over here, biting an apple and half-chuckling at Atsuro and the Kabuso.

"Nothing wrong with watching the moon, right?"

Of course Minako is here, dressed for the occasion. She's also invited a certain someone to come with her, but who knows if he'll show. Until he does, she has to entertain herself, which means alternating between bothering her brother who's camped the karaoke booth and bothering anyone else she recognizes passing by.

She eventually stops by a stand offering goldfish scooping, pondering. She'd never had a pet of her own (Koromaru doesn't quite count) and a fish doesn't take too much effort...

There's a very good reason Shinjiro doesn't usually attend these kind of things: they're too damn full of people. All the noise exists in stark contrast to his preferred quiet seclusion. Being in the public eye—even if most would never give him more than a passing glance—was never his thing. But he had told her he'd think about it. So he had thought about it. Shinjiro intends to hang around just long enough to make an appearance where he needs to, then he'll probably just quietly slink out of existence before his lungs have a chance to act up on him—or before other people have a chance to hound and nag him. They might very well be worse.

So get in, get out.

That's the plan, anyway.

It takes him a little while, weaving along the edges of the crowd where it isn't too congested, but he spots Minako eventually. A kimono? Well, she certainly looks nice in it, but now he's definitely going to stick out, considering he hadn't made any effort besides putting on his usual clothing and setting out the door. Not that there was a chance in hell he was going to wear a yukata. Didn't think he had ever really owned one.

He approches her, now close enough to see get a better look at the stall she's at, arching a single eyebrow. The goldfish stall? He remembers he and Aki taking Miki to one of those a few times.

"Hey."

He's been trying to catch one of these darned goldfish in the pond, but the darned net keeps breaking. It's starting to get a bit irritating. He needs a distraction...

He gets up, looking around. Just something to get the guy's attention for five seconds. Which... might be whoever approaches him, honestly.

It's hard for Shinjiro not to notice someone who's made a fool of himself once or twice in his presence. Harder still when he sees what Guybrush is attempting to do. Is he at one of the goldfish stalls? It's nice to see that the pirate is trying to return to some semblance of his natural habitat and all, but—

He narrows his eyes as he approaches. A broken net? Didn't know goldfish were that vicious.

"For a pirate, you certainly have shitty luck."

Just how many tailed ladies can there be in Hinoto-Ri? Who knows! But let's hope the people of the stalls can find out soon or they might be in trouble.

Yes, that's right, the mischievous vixen is around up to no good and getting away with getting her fill without really paying for anything! She's been sampling everything there is to offer in the festival and then altering her form by shapeshifting and going again!

Who knows how long it will last, but she's at least having a great time gathering food samples and free items here and there... Maybe the mass amount of bags she's holding with her tails is a clue.

That

is one of the more peculiar sights, Theodore supposes, he has seen today. A genuine spirit! How exciting. And quite a mischievous one as well, from what his sense can tell him, though that really is the only way he can track her through the crowd and her disguises. Not that he's any less odd looking in his kimono.

"How astonishing it is for someone of such power to be walking among us." Even beings of power revere spirits, since they're powerful and friendly. Most have humanity in mind too. It's good. Theodore smiles cheerfully, what a tale he'll be able to recount to his sisters.

Kohta smiled while going up and down the festival, being reminded of the fun times that he had been able to enjoy such things freely without bullying, and the times that he had been bullied, he still managed to have some good times.

However, this time, even his smile hid more sorrowful feelings. How were the others holding up? Was he really gone? Or was he some alternate... well himself? Did they still have him to help them gather and stock up for the harsh winter?

Were they even still alive?

Kohta sighed and looked blankly at one of the store, for a moment, he almost swore he heard the pup, and Saya, and Alice... He turned so fast he almost tripped over someone and he could feel his heart beating crazily as he looked around.

Sadly... there was no one... no one that he cared about anyways. He turned to leave the area, looking down at his feet. Maybe it'd be best if her returned to his place and drown in some video games or something.

Although he'd never show it, he was starting to get increasingly frustrated that he couldn't find Kotetsu anywhere. This whole outing had been his idea, and then he disappears the moment he turns his head. Unbelievable.

When a passerby almost tripped over him, Barnaby managed to neatly evade him with little more than a glance in the stranger's direction. He paused, however, when he caught sight of a keychain with a small, metal goldfish attached to it resting on the ground. Barnaby picked it up.

"Excuse me," he said, tapping the young man who had nearly fell on him on the shoulder. "Did you drop this?"

Link crouches by the riverbank for a moment, looking down at it. It's loud and noisy here and he doesn't like it, but he's trying to be sociable...

... He misses Saria, though. She'd know what to do here. He's a little afraid of all of this. But courage means pushing on even if you're afraid, right? ... Right.

So Link stands, wandering towards the produce section. This part, at least, he kind of understands. Not the loud music.

He's soon joined by a familiar face, albeit in unfamiliar clothing.

"Hey."

Of course Daichi had shown up-- how could he miss a festival like this! Hell, it ws almost some kind of semblance of normal, only, well it was different than the fall festivals he'd been to but it was actually pretty close! And who could pass up a festival?!

He'd already grabbed himself quite a few some free samples, actually, and was now happily crunching on a Capricorn apple as he kept walking, taking in the sights, and especially the sounds. It was both the same and...different!

Of course he was still Daichi, so it was perfectly easy for him to get distracted and bump into someone. And he kept stopped in the middle of path to boggle at the Pixies, and the Dragon, and the giant mooncake....

Unfortunately for Daichi, when he looked away to stare at something no doubt awesome and flashy, he bumped right into Yamato - who was also looking away from his path to frown up at a group of giggling fairies.

Yamato stopped, shifting his weight to prevent himself from stumbling backwards, and turned to deliver a frightful glower at the plebeian who dared to run into him - although the glare eased at the sight of Daichi. Ah, perfect timing.

"Shijima."

The only festival Theodore could remember attending had been the Film Festival with his guest, and how he had always longed to join others in their merriment of the season he could've never see himself doing so. Thankfully, Elizabeth is his sister and has rectified that. Hell she even prettied him up in a kimono. He doesn't even have the dignity to have a yukata. And you're supposed to look nice at festivals, correct? Right. Unfortunately, his sister has also taken the umbrella he (unsurely) picked up after she showed him what exactly he was to wear and took it for herself. Elizabeth herself is wearing something a little more... risqué herself, and Theodore isn't exactly sure one is to wear something such as this during a time to honor the season and the spirits that are there with them. Of course, what does his opinion matter.

While they come together and explore about, Elizabeth will leave her droll brother and he will entertain himself with admiring the decorations. What a pretty young woman he is under those lights!

It doesn't. It looked pretty and it wasn't like she was paying for it. Besides, it had ruffles. Ruffles. Truly a standard mark of a most elegant, yet thoroughly bold and refreshing, young woman. Elizabeth supposes she could hardly be called shy, after all.

Hopefully her umbrella spinning isn't hitting him all of the time, especially as she turns and looks about her.

"What a wondrous festival! It feels as if the city is truly alive. Wouldn't you say?"

Asem is simply wandering around, looking at everything the festival has to offer before he partakes in anything in particular. He's still dressed in his uniform, the idea of buying more ceremonial dress having never even occurred to him. Eventually, though, he does load up on food and begins eating as he walks.

So maybe Kanaya went a little... overboard. Unused to the cold that she has now found settling over Hinoto-Ri, the grey-skinned girl has done some research and constructed a nice-looking outfit for the fall, at the expense of her poor budget. Presently, she was walking alongside Sphinx, resting one hand on the animal's large and powerful neck and listening patiently to her nannying. Anyone walking by would definitely notice the Persona's booming voice, but Kanaya can't seem to find it in herself to make her quiet down.

"You're lucky that everything in this fair is free," the lioness continued. "Because otherwise you'd be in trouble with all the time and money you spent just on that! And you don't even have a job yet, either!"

"I am looking for one," she said resignedly.

"They're throwing up part-time offers all over this city, it's not that hard. Do you want me to go find you one instead?"

"No, thank you." Kanaya looks around at the many sights and sounds, as well as the festival attached. Perhaps some of them had store locations in town... if she asked around at a flower or fabric stall, would she get a job? "I will be sure to tell you if anything comes up."

Sphinx huffs quietly. "You'd better."

But in the meantime... "Sphinx, what is that?" Within a couple of minutes, both Persona and troll were standing next to the great dragon, and they were both completely googly-eyed.

"Goodness, one would think you'd never seen a dragon before!" A blue-tinged woman with a vendor's tray full of small bottles with envelopes tied to them floats by, sitting on a staff. "Then again, perhaps you haven't?" she adds, looking with bemusement at the young troll's horns.

Festivals and cultural activities are a good way to find out more about a city.

Or so that's Mitsuru's thinking and reasoning for attending the event. She'd rather be out, preferably on her motorcycle, and covering ground again, gaining whatever information about this place that she can find. But, she could use a night off. She could almost hear Junpei bellyaching in the back of her mind, either complaining about her workaholic attitude or taking time off.

Well, she supposed one night wouldn't hurt. And it wasn't as if this was like the nightclub mission either.

So standing around the fountain in a dark yutaka, she's trying to take the whole festival in, both enjoying herself and trying to keep track of necessary information that might be useful (like vendors and their wares).

Although he had gotten the chance to talk to a few people, there was still no sign of Kotetsu. Barnaby let out a slow breath and tried not to look as anxious as he felt. Logically, Kotetsu could handle himself just fine. Even with his knack for getting into trouble, the man had a way of pulling through -- or, at the very least, attracting enough attention for Barnaby to come to his rescue.

This was still ridiculous, though. Barnaby was glad he hadn't let the man stuff him into one of those yukata. He would have been uncomfortable on top of annoyed.

Frowning, Barnaby glanced down at the text message he'd typed.

If I don't hear from you soon, I'm leaving. That sounded firm and to the point, so he hit "send". Once he received notification that the message had been delivered, Barnaby looked up and surveyed the crowd again.

After a few minutes, he caught sight of the young woman he'd spoken to his first day here. If memory served correctly, they'd also been placed in the same group that night. Barnaby smoothly walked up beside her and paused long enough to make eye contact.

"Hi," he greeted with a slight incline of his head. "Sorry to intrude, but I don't suppose you've seen my companion anywhere, have you? He's an old man wearing a hat, vest, and a green dress shirt."

kotetsu felt like a lost child as he stood in one spot, watching the throng of festival-goers walk past him. At forty, it was rather embarrassing that he had to resort to such pedestrian tactics to find his partner. The cold skewers of syrup-lathered dango was evidencce enough of how long he had been looking for Barnaby--Well, to be fair, it was only one skewer left.... That and two empty bottels of beer he had yet to discard. It wasn't his fault searching made him thirsty and everything was complimentary tonight. But once his expert detective skills failed to sniff out any signs of his partner, Kotetsu was forced to move out of the crowd and against the railing that kept staggering drunks from falling into the river.

Pleasantly warm from the alcohol, the older man rested against the wrought-iron railing and stared forlornly at the last of his dango skewers. It was already cold; there wasn't any reason to keep it around for Barnaby since it wasn't at its peak of flavor and deliciousness. Barnaby expected the best and to give him any less was an insult to the both of him. Obviously, he needed to cover up the evidence of his failure by eating it!

Opening his mouth, Kotetsu tucked away two of the rice balls and chewed with the zeal of an overstuffed chipmunk. Out of the crowded noise of vendors and passersby, a strange beeping sound came from around him that he couldn't quite pinpoint. After it sounded again, he thought of checking his smart phone when he realized it was coming from his new watch.

If I don't hear from you soon, I'm leaving.. The message from Barnaby sobered him right up. Frantically touching buttons with his chin to compose a new message back to him, Kotetsu eventually stuck both wooden wkewers in his mouth as sticky fingers typed out: Im sorry!! I didt hearit go off. Where r u? Im by teh rivr aroun the yak-- Crap! how was he supposed to describe the booths around him if his partner didn't know anything about Japanese food, let alone what they were called? Ok u kno the bigd ragon? Im liekin t middle of it.

Hopefully Barnaby wouldn't seriously leave him here! They hadn't even looked at half the festival yet.

A few tense moments passed before Kotetsu received another message.

Don't move. I'm coming.

About five more minutes passed before Barnaby emerged from the crowd of people enjoying the festival. Although it wasn't immediately obvious, he was hungry and cranky. None of this had been his idea, yet he felt like he'd had to spend most of his time looking for the person who'd dragged him here in the first place.

"You're lucky I could read your poor spelling," he said once he'd stopped near Kotetsu.

Sasha loved festivals. They were a great opportunity to meet people and explore a world's customs, something she had to take notes on for her job. Well, festivals counted as significant events, so she had to write them down. She wasn't doing quite so much of that as she should have been, but she was still writing down bits and pieces into her trusty notebook from time to time. It wasn't every day that she arrived in a new world on the day of a celebration- she ought to be enjoying it!

With one hand on her notebook (simply perusing the notes she'd already taken) and the other hand on a delicious Yaki Imo, Sasha wandered through the festival. Bumping into another person was going to be an inevitability.

The strange and unusual quickly fell back into the mundane. For Nick, at least.

Once he'd gotten over the general bewilderment of the situation he was in, he'd wandered over to this festival. It was a lively place, which makes it all the more unexpected -- or maybe not so much -- that he'd managed to run into a spirit in no time.

Thankfully, the request was simple; she'd just wanted some of the moon cake. The only thing is, with spirits, offering food meant eating it yourself in their presence. Well, never mind. He began working his way over to where the treat was being distributed, letting on in no way his intentions. That way lay percieved madness.

It had been the strangest three hours, and this after having to fight Nyx and being in Tartarus. In fact, Miki might have swore she was dreaming, but at it went on, it was becoming more and more obvious she wasn't. After finding herself in a strange city, dragged off to a giant government building and given things, then told to go and enjoy the city for now and meet the others...wasn't she just sitting on the school rooftop last she remembered? They'd won. Couldn't she catch a tiny break?

Apparently this sort of was? For once, she was glad that her wardrobe included one festival kimono that she would only wear when she absolutely had to. A quick trip to her new apartment (she could check it out later) and Miki was already out the door, not even bothering to look at the names of her levelmates.

The orangish kimono was crudely tied around her, but she walked comfortably around in her geta. After all, some of her training sessions involved the wooden shoes. It was admittedly a source of pride for her, and the fact she could walk in them for extended periods of time (a girl has got to have little things to be happy about, you know?).
