Summary: Massive Open Apartment Log (March 23rd - 31st)

Do you remember the construction that had been going on for a while inside the apartment complexes? It had been rather silent lately, but on the 23th in the morning, you would find that the walls on each level were now filled with green walls filled with plants that survived harsh light environments, along with many herbs.

How had the managed to get so many of them here in a quick time? Magic, of course. (...No, seriously!)

The instructions were simple; those with Intel personas were asked to use their skills, if they had any, to refresh and renew the plants as they were used by the others. Thus a fresh supplies of produce could be made for a much cheaper price. The hydrophobic pumps took care of the water system.

If anyone ventured into the higher levels, they would find that the empty apartments of the 20th levels were all occupied by bulbs of all colors and sizes, flowers and vegetables in preparation of the warmer spring months. There were many scientific names on them.

It looked like they'd been handed another prototype project to go with the teleporters. But hey, at least this one seemed delicious and wasn't going to send you right into the other building's pool.

[ that's... an awfully friendly wave for someone eiji's pretty certain he's never met. after the initial surprise of being addressed, he nods his head politely, going for a small smile. ]

It definitely is something. I hope this project works! How many of us are able to take care of plants, though?

I think as long as people are willing to spare a little time out of their day to give the plants a little water, it shouldn't be too bad.

Hmm, I wonder if I should invest in a watering can...?

[ so she's going to try? eiji's smile goes a bit wider. that's a nice thing to do! ]

Well, I don't know much about plants, but a watering can can't be too costly, right? It'd be a shame to let all of these plants go to waste. [ ... erp. not that he cares all that much, but it seems like a polite thing to say. ]

[She nods.] We might need to set up a chart as well, to make sure that people are watering them regularly, but not too much at a time, either. It would be bad if we drowned them by mistake.

[She tilts her head to the side, surveying the wall.] If we laminated a calender and had a dry-erase marker attached to a string, anyone who watered it that day could mark it down... And we could leave the watering can out for everyone to use as well.

[ he follows her gaze to the wall, still smiling a bit to himself. ] Wow... it seems like you've put some thought into this! Do you organize things back where you're from, too?

I'm just the student council president at my school is all, so I've gotten used to organizing this sort of thing.

"Just"? That sounds like a pretty important position to me. I wasn't ever on student council, but you'd do things like this and more every day, right?

Well, yes... But it's only one role in all of the student council. I had to rely on others for help with those things, too.

That's a good philosophy to have, especially as a leader. But that ends up falling apart if the other people on the council end up being unreliable, right?

That's true. But thanks to the efforts of everyone, we were able to keep everything more or less orderly.

[Although there were still certain students who were out of control, but...]

[ that's a very diplomatic answer. ]

[And yet, she can't bring herself to look too angry about it.]

I see... the exciting ones, right? [ Eiji had been moderately popular at his old high school, but he wasn't a part of a particularly daring social group.] Keeping up with them must have been a trial.

Exciting... that's probably putting it mildly. They skipped class and got into fights during school. Ms. Alucard finally gave up trying to stop them.

[Not that there was much she could do about it, particularly when the favored escape route was through the third story window.]

...But the students themselves weren't bad people at all.

That's pretty forgiving, coming from a student council president. People who want to come to understand delinquents are very rare. [ it's an open minded point of view, though. eiji doesn't mind that. ]

...To be honest, I didn't understand them before. But we've gotten to know each other better since.

Eh? Well... no matter what, that's good! What changed, though...?

Well... A lot has happened, and we had no choice but to rely on each other. We faced many dangerous situations together, and learned to work with one another.

...I'm proud that I can call them my friends.

[ ... to be honest, eiji's about to go negative on all of this talk. friendship at this age doesn't last... at least, not to his knowledge. bah, that's a terrible thing to say to a teenager, though. he swallows that response. ]

That sounds troublesome... But that's how good teams start.

I've come to think so, too. We've been through so much together, even if we don't always agree we all will work towards helping everyone we can.

How long has it been since you've come here? [ it sounds like she misses them... ]

Hm? Ah, well... I came here at the end of December, so it's been about three months or so.

[So it's definitely been a while since she's seen any of them. And it would be a lie to say she didn't miss them dearly in the meantime. But... she can't bring herself to abandon this world's people, either.]

Really... That's a long time. [ and she's a little young to get tangled up in all of this. What a selfish thing to do, bringing someone her age to a place like this... ] Do you feel like you're stuck here?

Mm... Not particularly. I miss my home, of course, but...

As long as I am here, I want to do everything I can to help and protect the citizens here.

[ Eiji has to grin a little. That's a good attitude. ]

I'm glad. No one should feel like a prisoner, no matter where they are.
